Hi,

I am getting a "clunking" sound when I accelerate from a stop. I suspected an engine mount but when I had it checked out they suggested my SWAY BARS needed to be replaced. Can defective sway bars cause my symptom? A little confused. Thansk.

Yes that's possible. Any shift in a suspension bushing could conceivably cause a clunking sound. I'm not sure how they determined that this was the cause however, or if they are just guessing with your checkbook.

Short answer--yes, that is one possibility.
