What is Reduced Engine Power?

I have a 2005 Cadillac SRX just purchased this week. I have recently Changed the Spark plugs. After doing so I the Engine Power Reduced indicator came on. I tried pressing the accelerator but it will not got past 1 RPMS. Any suggestions on what this might be or how to fix it?

    Your car has detected a fault that could lead to engine damage. The "reduced power" is to make you stop driving, until the problem is diagnosed and repaired.

    You need a mechanic with the proper scan tools.
