I drained the oil and replaced the filter. Added about 3 liters/quarts of oil, ran the engine for a couple minutes and checked the oil. Dipstick showed oil overfull by about 2 liters and a little dirty. Removed the drain plug and only got about 2 tablespoons of oil. Checked for sludge or obstructions in the oil pan..nothing. I have no confidence in my local dealer and my regular mechanic doesn't know. Does the oil pan have baffles to keep the pump from going dry in the corners?

How did you check the oil pan? It sounds like you are aware of this engine's bad reputation.
