Are you in the market for a new or used vehicle and having difficulty finding something in your budget? Or are you finding yourself making trade-offs to find something you can afford (i.e. less cargo space, lower trim level). 1996 XJS - stalling problem
Car is a 1996 Jaguar XJ6 with 4 liter 6 valve engine which
intermittently stalls when slowing down to a stop sign or traffic
light. When this stall happens the car will start after about 4 - 5
attempts then the amber transmission warning light and amber check
engine light goes on. I’ve bought a scanner and can clear the codes
( codes P0227 & P1775) and go on my way, until next time the car
stalls. Sometimes it drives fine for 3, 4 or 5 drives before this
happens again. Sometimes the car is hard to start from cold or
restarting after driving( 3, 4, 5 attempts to get started and
running) this also usually leads to the transmission light and
check engine light going on. Car runs fine on a long drive.
So far I have replaced the crank position sensor, cleaned the EGR
valve, replaced the EGR valve, replaced the TCM and have the same
issue.

Have you check for vacuum leaks? That could certainly cause stalling and EGR malfunction, especially on older cars.
