I found the front spring broken on the front Right passenger side. Not enough to drop the car but enough to make a noise. Replacing the spring for safety reasons. $400-$500 bill.

Oh, a broken strut? That's rather unusual.

My 2005 with 300K on motor had a rear suspension "clunk" i lived with and thought about for a few months. When i replaced subwoofer under rear deck cover i happened to check out the struts. Whoever installed the replacement struts before i bought the car didnt tighten the nuts on top of the strut tower! The guy was probably in a rush and let it leave his shop like that. By the way, I fabbed in a 6" Sony subwoofer in place of the 8" and have exellent results! My 6" came out of a home surround souns kit sitting in my garage. That JVC sound system sends 150 watts to the rear sub supposedly. rms or however its figured i dont know but my ear tells me that rear sub gets around 50 watts at peak output.

Hitting a pothole really hard can break a spring.
