Hi, I took a Nash Metropolitan to a local mechanic in Ohio to get an estimate on repairs and he says the rear body seats/shimmies independent of the wheels and carriage. He doesn’t know what, but believes something has rusted out. Can anyone help out? What should be holding the two together? Thank you.

Could you explain this a bit better? I can't quite make out what your problem is.

You need to find a new mechanic. If he can't see what's rusted out, he's not looking very hard. Join a Nash forum or a local classic car club (better: both) and find a local mechanic that can help you.
