Used SUV Buying Advice

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on buying a used SUV. I'm not a big car person, but we're looking for a used SUV for my wife. She really likes the Chevy Equinox, Ford Escape, and Nissan Rogue. Does anyone have any tips pro/against any of those or any others you would highly recommend for around $11-12k?
