Why do I get a "MAF sensor out of self test range" after replacing with an OEM Delco part?

Replaced the sensor at about 77000 miles last week, in Tennessee. Fuel use dropped 25%, but 500 miles later, I have a code repeatedly set that MAF sensor is out of self test range.

Could be the MAF but you should also check for vacuum leaks, a cracked air intake plenum or even a bad EGR valve that is stuck OPEN. I presume this is the P0101 code?
