Heater core issue

I've noticed when my car gets up to temperature I suddenly smell what smells like burnt antifreeze. Also, I notice that the inside of the windshield fogs up even though I'm not using the defroster at all. I'm guessing it's the heater core that's leaking.. but I'm not sure.

    Sounds like it, or if you're lucky maybe just a loose or broken hose going into, or coming out of, the heater core.

    This is a pretty big job and it might cost approx. $700--$900 if the core has to come out.

    I have a new heater core and a chilton's manual so in the next few weeks I'll be giving it a go.
