Thanks Obyone! I went back to the dealer and they checked it... it was WELL over filled. I expressed my disappointment... I would of come in for my 500 mile check and the oil would of been normal. They agreed, apologized, drained and refilled the oil and reinitiated my oil consumption test. So we'll see :o)

    ...beats me again!

He's right! They don't have to pull the engine, just the valve covers even if it were the valve seals.

But my theory on this is it's too much oil. A piston ring/oil control ring is suspect. Got to take note of where the oil is going. Out the tailpipe? Put some white paper behind the exhaust pipe and warm it up for 5 minutes in the morning. Oil on the floor? Oil in the coolant. Got to be going somewhere.

I have a 2000 sierra 1500 E/C S/B 4.8L 4x4 and am toying with the idea of installing a suspension lift (4" +). Does anyone have an opinion on brand, how it will affect ride in the long run etc? Would appreicate any input. Thanks.

Have you checked with your dealer on the impact on warranty for doing the lift? Are you also upgrading the tires? rearend? Hope you're taking all of this into consideration.

I have a 2000 1500 crew cab and am wondering about adding a few things. First, I was wondering about what type, if any, rails to get to assist the kids getting into the truck. I see the body mold ones which look nice, but appear to be too close to the body of the truck to be of much use. Does anyone have these? Do you end up just stepping around them instead of using them? What about the metal bar types? Any pro's and cons?
Also, i need a cover for the back of the truck and was considering the GMC hard cover that folds up and is able to lock. The dealer said it was around $650. This seems steep. Does anyone have one? Or should I go to an aftermarkets place?
While I am here, any mudflaps for these trucks? I don't see many with them on and am wondering about getting some before my truck gets too trashed.

Ok, I may get kicked out of this, but I needed to say my piece! I'm really mad that my post got frozen on my temp mirror reading ice question. They say to post all questions on specific truck models in one post! WHO HAS ALL DAY TO SCROLL LOOKING FOR A POST THAT IS CLOSEST TO YOUR QUESTION?????
It doesn't matter if you have one post with 200 entries or 10 posts with 20 entries! It makes this site a lot easier to navigate around!

And to answer the questions from my post which got frozen.....YES, I did read the manual (I'm one of those chicks who reads those darn things) and NO, the dealer didn't mention anything about it. That's why I asked you guys.

    Thanks for your help!
No Offense Pocahontas - but you guys may want to rethink the idea of putting all questions in one post.....it makes it too difficult as I said!
