Thinking to buy a used luxury SUV - need inputs

Good morning all,

I am thinking to buy a pre-owned (off leased) luxury SUV for our family. I am thinking of either Lexus RX 450H(L), or Porsche Cayenne, or BMW X5. With the basic knowledge, I have I think Lexus RX 450H(L optional) may be a good choice when it comes to the best value for the price compared to the other 2 vehicles. I have read articles on RX 450h and it seems very reliable and fewer maintenance costs compared to others.

Based on the knowledge I have on cars I truly don't know in-depth about the other 2 vehicles about the reliability and maintenance costs in the long run. I am considering anything between 2016 to 2018 models for any of the 3 SUVs. All of them costs around the same price for a used SUV. For instance for a Lexus R 450H for a 2016 model, it costs maybe around 30 to 32 K. I remember seeing the other could be bought around at the same price.

Seems like in 2018 the Lexus released 450 HL which is appealing too with the 3rd-row option.

So, cost-wise if I understand it right, all of them cost the same but trying to figure out which one to buy. Can any of you please provide some inputs with your knowledge and experience?

Also, if there are any other pre-owned luxury vehicles of any make that I haven't mentioned that are reliable then please help me with shedding some light on those as well. Thanks.

Go for the Lexus. Reliability will be better. If the sportiness of the other two attract you get a nice coupe as a toy.

Oldfarmer50, Thanks for the input on Lexus RX. I am 50 smile: and looking for a just a family SUV that I can keep for a long time like 10 years or so unless something changes in between. I like x5 the way it looks but to my understanding the maintenance will be more on that in the long run which I think maybe some additional expense.

My sister bought a used RX hybrid - it now has close to 180,000 miles on it. She loves it.

Michaell, Thanks for sharing. I haven't bought it yet but looking around for a good deal on 2017/2018 RX 450H(L) models. I will certainly share the pictures of it.
