Happy Equinox Premier Diesel Owner (So far)

I've been a dormant member returning after 15 years or so away. LOL. I purchased a then new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Premier Diesel in June, of 2018. It has all the bells and whistles other than the larger tires, which I'm told are noisy. I live in the DC Metro area and drive a lot in mostly steady traffic. I average mpg in the high 30s-low 40s depending on where I'm going. I currently have crossed the 50K threshold and everything runs good. There was a recall for a programming issue and that is it, so far. The Diesel additive (5 gallons) I add just about every 3-4 months which costs me $24 or so from Advance Auto.

With the car's roominess, features and very decent fuel consumption, I'm surprised Chevy did not sell more or do more to promote this line before discontinuing it for 2020. I understand regular fuel is cheap..right now about $1.50 or so a gallon. I'm paying $1.99 for Diesel at Sams Club. Given the mpg difference of up to 50% or so, for the diesel and 30% increase for fuel, I believe I'm doing pretty good. If I had bought the 2.0 turbo, which I understand recommends premium, then the difference would be even greater. Sure the 2.0 turbo will be faster but when you live in a large metro are like I do, you do you really need all that oomph? My TD is quite peppy giving me many smiles to the gallon so far.

Thanks, I used to comment on the Audi forums back when I had an A6. The community was very helpful. I'm hoping to learn and share again with ownership experiences good and bad.
