Get the carpeted cargo mat. It prevents things from sliding around on the plastic rails, and you can turn it upside down for a rubber surface. Great mod, low price, looks way better than stock too.

Thanks for the carpeted mat idea. You said "It prevents things from sliding around on the plastic rails." What plastic rails? I do not have the cargo cover so maybe I don't have the plastic rails. When I put grocery bags in the cargo area I have nothing to attach them to so they fly around back there.

My car has plastic rails on the floor that made things slide around a lot. The cargo matt covers them and keeps things in place better.

You can also get the "Cargo Organizer" if you really need to hold groceries in place: http://www.mitsuaccessories.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=- - - - - MZ312848_07&Category_Code=OUT07

Does that hitch bolt right up? It looks like theres threaded holes where the hitch would attach to.

I'm thinking of installing a hitch before winter and the salt gets in the threads.

I just noticed on my Outlander if you tap the turn signal lever once to the lane change position the signals will blink 3 or 4 times. A neat feature for changing lanes.

Maybe a lot of new vehicles do this but this is the first time I've seen it.

I just noticed the center armrest/console extends forward. cool.

There are 3 threaded holes on each side to bold the hitch. Holes on the right side are directly above the muffler, so you have to loosen or remove the muffler to access them. I had mine installed by a mechanic $50 for a 20 min job. Local dealership quoted $600 for hitch kit & installation. Correction, 99cents shipping for order over $150 from eTrailer :)

I checked out the hitches. Great prices. Which brand did you get? I had a Hidden Hitch on our van and it worked out well.

I purchased the Curt towing hitch. It was the only model available in 5/07. It looks like they offer 2 more models, but from the pictures, I don't think the new models would fit on 07 Outlander. Check for installation instructions & drawing before deciding on which model. The Curt hitch protrudes out about 3" below the tailgate, but I think it would be the case for any hitch on Outlander due to the location of the spare tire. Good luck.

Yeah, the ones I've seen hang kind of low but like you said, there's probably no alternative. Thanks for the replies.
