he said that sarcastically. because f150 only recognizes the duramax and 8.1 on their "proposed ratings", and implies that they'll be more "chevy junk" when it all comes out anyways. that's why tim made that comment. kinda funny actually. you know somebody was going to...why not tim! LOL.

a little role reversal (a la ryan) here:

"The [Ford] boys will find "something" wrong with it [the Duramax or 8.1L] and will without a doubt preach to us all about how much better the [Ford 5.8L] engine [will be]. Like anyone but [Ford] boys actually believe a word of it."

    sound like anyone familiar??? LOL!!!

Whats up with this 5.8? What is Ford developing it for?

I love that interpretation! I wonder of thats what GM was aiming for....

I think both the Ford and Chevys are solid, good, trucks. Although, I like the styling of the Chevy's slightly better than the Ford's, I would own either one of them. I currently own a 1999 Chevy Silverado, I looked at both and basiaclly, the Chevy dealer I went to had exactly what I was looking for in options and price, the Ford Dealers I went to really didn't have a large selection and they were very stuck up because they knew they would have other potential buyers even if I wasn't pleased, kinda like Toyota Dealers. These are the only reason really that I purchased what I have. I'm not really loyal to either one, I truely feel both Ford and Chevy are still the two best Fullsize Truck makers and have continued their dominance.

Ok another question how is your truck better than tims???
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
nothing said here ever effects me when off this computer....Now f150..his Blind Loyalty..(22 years and counting)....just eats him up thinking someone is against his truck...

    ...(you'd think for a person who thinks he's God...this wouldn't effect him??)

I'd put it against a similar Ford....but the base engine in a Ford 3/4 is a 5.4....and that wouldn't be too fair...

(what would the 5.4 base engine be in a 3/4?....a 1/3 ton engine?)

    I change my statement...I'll buy all a beer.....except you..

Better read that book some more DB...

    heavy half 350-4V, Currently have a '00 C2500 5.7L
booty spanker pick-up. Don't care for styling of
'97 up F150's or new Desperado OPPS Silverado.
Never had a Dodge. Will wait for new hemi-engine
offering in Razm pick-ups before I consider buying
one. Have also owned S10's and Rangers. Liked em
all. Am loyal to none. If I like a pick-up, I will buy it, any brand....

When you get in your truck, do you ever hit your knee on that god awful dash that extends way down into the door opening? I drove a 2000 F-150 yesterday, and my knee still hurts.

I never have. But I have kicked the $h!t outta' that heater core/fan cover on the passenger side of the Silver/Sierras. Can that thing beeee any more in the way???
  • bowhuntwi2bowhuntwi2 Member Posts: 80
I'd guess getting into any truck might be a challenge from a person that used to driving a chevy lumina, but then again, it seems if you can Quiggle yourself down into a car like that, you should be able to get into any truck with out hitting the dash, course you might need a ladder to get into it in the first place.
  • cdeancdean Member Posts: 1,110

Yes, that damn thing is in the way. Not only do you kick it, but it even looks ugly!
  • timothyadavistimothyadavis Member Posts: 322
the apparently short downward extension of the Sierra/Silverado looking at a new one in the next bay as our bed covers were being installed. Seemed like I was looking at all the underdash junk hanging down. I just prefer the finished look of the lower-extending F-150 dash.

Also, as a personal preference thing, the interiors of the S/S (that guy's extended cab had leather) seemed very carlike, meaning the seat backs are lower like a car. It did certainly look a bit roomier than the F-150, at least front-to-back -- perhaps not in width. But the F-150 seats (I have the bench front seats and the 1999 folding down rear seat in my Supercab) seem more substantial and, well, solid looking somehow.

Again, this is all what you find attractive (and what I do differently). Enjoy....

My 13 year old pointed this out and it is ugly as hell! I think Ford meant for all the Super Duties to have running boards. The area under the cab while covering the frame is very unfinished looking. The GM trucks round off the area under the door so it's smooth even though you see a lot of frame. Haven't noticed the Dodge yet. My nerf bars cover it all right. I can't stand the look of running boards.
  • oldharryoldharry Member Posts: 413
the things in the way on every vehicle you don't drive every day. You would think the designers would have people who don't drive each type every day get in and out of prototypes. They must have accountants and secretaries that could climb in each side of a new model. Then they would fix that Ford dash, and GM heater. On the ground I didn't have a problem, but got the knee after aligning it when it was twenty five inches up on the rack. Running boards keep a person from a normal step up because they extend past the edge of the rack.

My 99,F250SD,SC,4x4 came without factory cab steps. The dealer ordered it equipped the way he wanted. It gave me the choice to have what I wanted. I chose the color matched version that I have only seen elsewhere in the brochure. Looks great.

The sheet metal on all, are a bit on the light side.....I went to line up my boat on my trailer hitch, just pushed abit of the tailgate, luckly when I moved off the tailgate, it popped back out......learned a lesson there....guy next door has a new chevy, his two kids were rough housing, now his passenger side door looks like a bull hit it.

Swifts truck IS a ford you dolt..

Swift...perhaps he was telling you to get a GM with the composite box?...LOL

....I don't think I'd be able to keep it together if that was me....although it is your own kid...and that makes it "different" as they all say...uh huh..

On your new HD(SD was already taken)I have been wondering what tires would come on them, My SD has 265's (E), Goodyear doesn't have an (E)rating in that size. I know GM won't go to Mickys for tires, there too expensive. You think they will stay with Firestone in 265's Steeltex A/T with all the recalls on the wilderness tires.
  • mgdvhmanmgdvhman Member Posts: 4,157
    of mine Has steeltex 245's....

I believe the new HD has 245's as well...

Ford was about 50K ahead of GM last month, so it lookslike they held even in August. I can't find the actual monthly figures anywhere. GM's numbers supposedly include everything, but at this point, there should hardly be any C/Ks left on the lots. I haven't seen any in months. Right now, it looks like GM's 1500 and 2500 is keeping up with Fords entire lineup.

Fords power increase on the big truck engines is good thing: there won't be nearly as big as a gap in the comparisons. I still wish GM had gone with the solid front axle on the new big rigs.

If you're going to put the meaty Allison in there, put the big front axle in there too. Might not have had room.

Dodge is really stagnating the past 2 months. Their engines are way over due an update. I really think they could put the new engines in the current Dodge body and sales would pick up big time. You test drive a Dodge and its just plain slow when compared to Ford or GM.

Who would have thought that we would ever say this year, Dodge is last in the diesel power? Still bulletproof though, and not weak by any means.

My uncle has a SC 8.1 w/Allison on order..I can't wait to test drive it for him! Surely I can find something that 'needs' to be towed....

Been keeping up with them GM trucks now. They have a list of problems everyone is complaining about all over the internet now.

Good luck on this one now.

on the way to work about the power in a silverado,
the lady of the house had left a note to take out the garbage, and the chevy owner read it as take out the garage, so he hooked up the garage and pulled it down. I would think this commercial is a major slam by chevy to the owners of these trucks.
Saying they have no common sense.....like a dumb jock, if I was an owner I'd complain.

complain? Why? It's just an ad.
  • z71billz71bill Member Posts: 1,986
I don't think you are in the target market this ad is trying to reach - people with a sense of humor. Some of the Chevy media is factual - like the one that shows the 2500 4x4 pulling the Ford wrecker out of a snow covered ditch (I think the car hooked to the wrecker was also a Ford). Do you like this type of ad better?

Actually I thought it was funny, it tells the mentality of a chevy owner, and apparently you all agree on it. Have a good day gentleman.
  • shelby12shelby12 Member Posts: 25
arguing about which make is better. I decided when I bought my Chevy to listen to my husband - keep the oil changed, treat the truck with respect, and get the most for those car payments. We always kept the truck well maintained, I (usually) treated it with respect, and I haven't made those car payments in years. My little 4.3 S10 automatic just turned over 225,000 and it still beats those stock 5L Mustangs who think that I drive the speed limit because I have to. Only takes one start from a red light after they have been tailgating for me to get their attention. Love my truck.
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
4.3 S-10 beating stock 5.0 Mustang......Camaro pulling Mustang.....Chevy towing a Ford wrecker with another Ford behind it.....

Ahhh...-sigh-...(Gore-ism).....I guess Chevy fans need these fantasies to take them away from the reality of Ford dominance.
  • RoclesRocles Member Posts: 982
Gosh Chevy fans-what will they come up with next?? Will GM-C actually combine truck sales and topple Ford? Oh....yep..not this year again,eh?

What does parachute pants and Camaros have in common? No....actually the pants sell better....

    LOL!!!!! ;)
