Hello!
First of all I want to say thank you. This forum helped me out getting a good deal 3 years ago when I leased my 2018 Tiguan, and I am hoping now to get some feedback on the following. Lease is coming to an end and I am interested in purchasing my vehicle. The car is sparkling new, not a dent, not a scratch, impeccable interior, and most importantly just driven 19K miles out of the 36K leased.
  • Buyout price stated in the contract is 19,464.00
  • 2 payments left 616 in total
I went to the dealership the other day (north FL) and this is the breakdown that they gave me:
  • Price 19961
  • Taxable fees 65.5
  • Doc Fee 698.5
  • Tax 1318.5
  • Non Tax Fees 228.05
Total 22.271.55

They were not able to explain very well to me where all these fees are coming from. I know that in FL dealers tend to increase the fees just to make extra profit.
Manager said if I want the car that's what I need to pay, non negotiable.

What do you guys think? I honestly think 1K in fees is a joke. Would it be worth to go to other dealers to see if I can get a better deal? I am assuming car price is non negotiable, just talking about fees here.

I don’t think you have to use the same dealer to buy the car. Shop around and see if you can do better.

$700 doc fee is a crime for simply buying your own car. But, Florida...

Thanks. I guess I will have to. There are two other dealers in my area (Jacksonville) that I can go and ask. One thing that bugs me is that he wanted to know my mileage before giving me an offer. That's something I don't understand since that should not change the total price of the car. I wonder if he wanted to see the state of my car so that he would know how many "fees" to put in there.

The buyout price should be consistent, regardless of the condition. It's on the contract.
