Dealer asked for VIN of my current car before giving me a quote for a new lease.

I currently drive a 2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus. Right now I'm shopping deals for a new lease and I'm emailing with a different Audi Dealer that didn't lease me my current car. The salesperson said she won't quote me until I provide a VIN of the vehicle I'm driving. Is this common practice?

    This is the first time a member has mentioned this stipulation from a dealer.

    There isn't any reason why you have to provide it to get a quote on a new car; just move on to a different dealer.
