I had just gotten into a car accident and I don't know what is going to happen to my damaged car. Do I still have to make payments to it. I already have the money for a down payment to get another used car. I just need to know what is going to be done with my previous car. I don't know much about cars btw.

If your car is insured, then an adjuster will look at the damage and determine if it can be fixed or not - the cost of the repairs is compared to the current market value of the car. If the insurance company determines if the repairs cost too much, you will get a check for the market value.

Yes, you still have to make payments on the car.

If you don't have insurance, or don't have collision insurance, you are out of luck, and you still owe the balance due on the loan.

Unless there is an insurance that helps people after you insurer with them. The only thing I can think of that could help me is adjusting the monthly payments. So basically there are no options I have to get rid of this car.

To clarify, the car had no insurance on it at the time of the accident?

You signed a contract, you are obligated to fulfill it.

Yes. So would I need to get insurance before I go to court.

Why would you need to go to court? Were you at fault?

If you had no insurance on the car when the accident occurred, there isn't much you can do. You will be responsible for all repair costs, both on your car and any car or property that was damaged as a result of the incident.
