What is the best way to handle this?

I got into a car accident and lost my phone. The police sent a tow truck. The police officers let the other drivers call their tow but not me. Is that not misconduct on their end. Or are they just allowed to pick and choose who can do what with their vehicle. Due to them calling the tow, the tow had to contact my car management. I feel like this would have been avoided if the officers let me get my own tow truck. If I got my own tow using my phone, then my car management would not have taken it. Now my car shop is only allowing me 10 days to get my things out of my car. I keep telling them I am not available to pick up my stuff this week. They won't give me a better time frame. Is this acceptable?

You can't control the past, only how you respond. If you want your things, better find a way to get there before the ten days are up.
