2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring AWD - recent prices paid?

Hello,

I'm in the market for a 2021 Mazda CX-5 GT AWD (base model) - MSRP $33,185 ($31,960+$1,225 destination). I'm in NYC/Long Island NY area.

Can anyone share their recent deals, negotiations, overall experience when shopping for this car?

My limited research on Edmunds indicates that I should expect to pay at or slightly above MSRP (plus tax/fees). Just hoping to corroborate this with real-world data.

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to add that I've received 2 online quotes from local dealers (Long Island)...one was 12% over MSRP, the other 15% over! These types of quotes are usually a starting point for negotiation and it would be my job to get it lower, but my impression is that these dealerships have no interest in going any lower.

Anyone else have insight? Any actual deals that have been struck? Desperate for more info before I agree to go down to any dealerships.

    TIA!

It wasn't a CX-5, but my daughter-in-law bought a 2021 CX-30 last month, for a couple hundred under MSRP. It was the only one they had on the lot. In Greater Cincinnati. Cash deal.

I wouldn't presuppose what the dealer might take. Show up at the dealership to see if they actually have what you want in stock. If they do, make the offer you want to make.

The dealer she bought at only had six new cars, total. But, four of them were CX-5s.

This is good advice in this market. All I've heard from everyone was that there are no deals to be had and everything was going way over MSRP but I finally found a dealer willing to let a car go for something close to MSRP. In fact, I got $1280 under MSRP for a base 2021 CX-5 Grand Touring AWD. This occurred last week...Suffolk County, NY, cash deal. So, it's possible...you just have to keep looking ;) Thanks!
