Can someone explain what this dealer was tring to do to me? Cause I feel like it was a straight up Hussle..

Trade in equity of $8000
$500 first responder rebate
Residual 57%
MF .00098
Credit is 840
36 month/10,000 mile lease
Dude came back with a $720 payment 🙄🙄
When I asked him to explain how exactly he got to that number he couldn't explain, he literally replied "I don't know, that the numbers we put in the program.".....Clearly I walked out..
Drove 12 miles down the road, got the same exact car for $470 per month and they gave me $9400 in equity.

Was the first dealer just trying to steal my equity??
