All electric or hybrid?

Would it be smarter to buy an all-electric or hybrid car?

I'm thinking about two or maybe three cars in mind right now. Chevy Volt, Toyota Prius and Tesla S.

I can take a lot of anxiety! Which one would be best?

It all depends on your definition of "best"?

I've driven a Tesla, and while they are stupid fast, there isn't any emotion in driving it. Like a smartphone on wheels.

I've got a VW ID.4 on order, which is $10K cheaper and at least feels like a real car inside. The Bolt is pretty small, and the Prius, is, well, a Toyota. Likely to run forever.

If you take a lot of long road trips, a plug-in hybrid may be best. If you only drive around town, then an EV will work fine.

    Thank you!

Yeah, the Tesla looks amazing and is very fast, no emotion okay, so it's cold and just kinda like a machine?

I'm thinking about the 2007 Prius, the rankings and reviews are amazing.

Will the Prius get me from town to town? I'll look into the plug-in hybrid, thank you!

The Prius is a hybrid, not a full EV

I think it all depends on how much range anxiety you can stand.

Okay, thank you for explaining. What trim did you pick? I went through each trim and looked at the Features & Specs and found that the Pro trim was the best and cheapest. What do you think?

We chose the Pro S AWD, for the panoramic sunroof. AWD also gives extra power from two motors.

Okay, the numbers were almost the same between all trims anyways. Panoramic sunroof! Wow, that must be nice. I like AWD, so your trim is best I think for myself too.

I just had to say my two cents here. The battle of the HEV's and BEV's is hot and heavy. The whole auto industry as a whole is in a rapid state of flux. Each manufacturer knows the savvy buyers are watching every move they make. The dollar is king. So my advice to buyers if you can. WAIT. A lot of new stuff out there that is not tried, true and tested. Like one comment I saw, if you buy Toyota, the thing will likely run forever! Yup, I would trust them more when it come to new technology. I would still wait at least 3 years before buying a new model. Don't forget, it was just a few years ago a hush hush about the 2013-18 RAV 4 auto cook cycle was out there. Park it and it would toast. I would still buy a Toy over a VW, but the smell of fried paint on a Toy does make me pause. Remember, those batteries can be more of a problem than gasoline if something goes wrong! Funny how Toyota denies any problems. Another dog in the pound! Yet, Toyota is one of the few cars you will be playing with on the road 20 years down the road! The others will usually be in the garage being "toyed" with. Getting to old to work on them; so they had better work in the first place!
