2021 Tucson Engine Replacement

Due to low oil, the engine has failed and needs to be replaced.
The oil change shop's insurance is paying for the repair.
Unfortunately the dealer says they can't locate an engine from Hyundai parts.
So we must use a "remanufactured" long block with a 12k/12m warranty.
We would appreciate any advice on how to locate the best solution.
Such as, what years are "backward compatible" with a 2021 Tucson?
Also, we're concerned about staying within the lease terms regarding repairs such as this.

Thanks,
JB

I'd be more worried about what this will do to the factory warranty, in case you have problems after the 12 month engine warranty. Also, even if the engine is remanufactured, it has to be the same engine as the one you have, not just "compatible".

In your favor: wasn't 2021 the last year of that generation Tuscon? Should be plenty of identical engines, if so. No reason you won't be able to find a 2021 model engine, this far into 2022 model year.

Your leasing bank doesn't need to know about repairs, unless you tell them.

We don't have a problem locating a "compatible" remanufactured engine.
We're having the Hyundai dealer buy the engine and complete the swap.
Though I'm not sure how to know in advance that the factory warranty will still be in-force.
Any thoughts on identifying the correct engine and keeping the warranty.

Ask the dealer about the factory warranty, before they do the swap. If the dealer is doing the swap, surely they would have to know about engine compatibility? If the engine only comes with a 12 month warranty, it sure doesn't seem like you'll have any engine warranty past that time, right?

I'm not sure I'd agree to this, if it were my vehicle. The possible downside could be very expensive. I'd guess if this weren't a lease, you wouldn't consider it, either?

I would ask the insurance company to buy out the lease from the bank, and then the car would be their problem. And, you could go look for a new one.
