Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot, or Nissan Pathfinder?

Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot, or Nissan Pathfinder?

We just moved to a northern state, and we have two kids. We are in the process of buying an SUV. So far, we have come across these three cars that are available for us:

Mazda CX-9 Signature AWD
Honda Pilot Touring AWD
Nissan Pathfinder Platinum 4WD

Please let us know if you or your family/friends have had any experience with these vehicles.

Which one should we buy, or which one should we avoid?

All things being equal I’d take the Honda. Since you just moved north don’t forget to get whatever you buy up on a lift to check for rust. If these are new cars get them rust proofed if you plan on keeping it.

Thank you, @oldfarmer50, is there any specific reason you picked the Honda?
Btw, they are all new and recent years' models.

they are all very nice cars.

are you looking to buy and keep for a long time, or lease?

especially if buying, just look at them all and see which one you like the best and want to live with every day. It is usually hard to go wrong with a Honda of course, but nothing wrong with the other options.

and of course, the deal does matter. Just not as much as getting what makes you the happiest.

CX-9 is a turbo 4; the other two have a V6. That may matter, depending on your driving style.

Honda’s would tend to be more reliable, at least by reputation. The Mazda might be more fun in the “sporty” sense but the radio controls take some getting used to. I don’t know much about the current Pathfinder but some Nissans have had issues.

Ultimately, it depends on what you want to get out if it and how long you’ll keep it.

I'd take a long test drive in each, buy the one you like. I rented a Honda Passport a few weeks ago (a slightly shorter version of the Pilot), and I did not like the ride or the powertrain (didn't hold a steady speed for me).
