Hi, I'm considering buying a new fully loaded 2023/2024 RAV4 Hybrid XSE/Limited trim. With a possible new generation in the horizon, I wanted to understand how depreciation of current cars would be affected by it.

Thanks Michaell. I usually own my vehicles around 6 years. Considering that time frame, I wanted to understand if newer generations would affect the depreciation much. I'm looking for data to help me decide between 1. Waiting a year for new generation RAV4 2. Buying similar latest generation car from other manufacturers.

Nobody has the ability to predict the future.

You can, however, go back to 2018 models and look at their current depreciation as a guide.

You really only need to worry about depreciation when you go to sell the vehicle. If you don't plan to keep it that long, consider leasing, where the depreciation amount is locked in.

Thanks a bunch Michaell. That helped me get an approximate idea of what to expect.
