    I have seen the neoprene seat covers (both the black and the red/black) and they are really nice!!! Being a scuba diver and knowing how durable neoprene wet suits are, they would be great protection and also waterproof. Those would be the fitted covers. I want them but in Canada it is over $400 and that is only the two front seats. If you go to saturndan.com, there is a picture of them with the accessory listing - if I remember correctly the picture is of the black ones.

    I would be interested in seeing the slip on - do they include a cover for the back seat?

    I have the black neoprene fitted seat covers and they look great but will leave you sweating in the heat. The dealership mistakenly put on the slip-on seat covers first and I could not believe how bad they looked. The slip-on covers did not fit well and had a horribly cheap feel. Blow the extra bucks on the neoprene set! I haven't seen any covers for the backseat yet.

    I just read thru muost of the post.I like the package of the Vue.I will keep my eye on it's service record.This is the first vehicle that made me want to jump from small car. I am glad I can't afford one soon.Hopefully they will get the problems together. You must realize that lots of cars have problems.Especially new ones.As I posted above I can't understand why so many vehicles Suzuki Aerio, Huyndai Gt and Vue all have clicking issues when turning. I wonder if a common supplier is shipping bad parts. Good luck Vue owners. Your comments have been very helpful. Maybe one day I can be a Vue owner. I know that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

    I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the loyal Saturn VUE fans that have been providing insight as I search for my next vehicle. I want to give a special thanks to Tekwarrier for keeping the discussions lively.

    I have decided to await the arrival of the Mazda 6 hatchback before I make my next vehicle purchase. After seeing this vehicle I think its just what I'm looking for.

    But have no worries Ill still be reading up on the VUE and checking in on you guys and dolls to see how things are going.

    -So I am finally making good on a promise to "me" about going down to see the "birthing" on my BRIGHT BLUE VUE ... "Miss Vivienne".
    -I am scheduled to tour Monday 8/12/02, second morning tour. Flights and hotel booked.
    -The BRIGHT BLUEs are scheduled to start going thru first and second week of August. I spoke with the Welcome Centre folks and they are excited that I actually have a VUE on order going thru.
    -As I only have a P/O #, it's unlikely that I will see Miz VIV, but they told me about the tour and a "whole bunch of them" waiting to ship. "Selling like hot cakes" !!
    -If anyone has been down there for the tour and stayed in Nashville, I would love to receive your tips. Things to do etc.

    I actually think that's really cool! It would have been great to see mine made. I had never ordered a new vehicle prior to ordering my VUE - always bought off the lot but let me tell ya, I have never been so excited about a new one either! I think the dealership was beginning to think I wanted a job or something - I was there at least once a week. I haven't been there lately, maybe I should stop and say hi.

    Anyway ... I love my VUE ! I live in a newer house and have been doing a lot of landscaping, deck work etc. It is so nice to be able to buy whatever you want when you are out and not worry about how you are going to get it home. I have a car blanket in the back and another bigger one underneath the back (you can actually fit a blanket down around the spare tire) so all I have to do is put the seats down, cover to protect and everything goes in there.

    There still aren't that many VUE's on the road around here so it attracts a lot of looks. You just know they are thinking ... wow, what is that so it is a great feeling. I parked next to a BMW SUV in a parking lot the other day and it is amazing how similar the VUE was. Not a bad deal when one of the cheapest looks like one of the most expensive!

    Last month, I went to the GE plant to see my toaster being assembled.
    For Christmas this year, I'm planning a trip to a Hickory Farms warehouse to see them put together the sausage and cheese gift basket I order every year.
    Let the fun begin!

    -Thanks for your post. I had a great laugh at your comment about being at the Saturn dealership constantly ! You sound like me. (I think they think I'm a little nuts ... but, hey. My money is good and I have been really patient. I think that surprises them more than anything !)
    -I actually haven't spoken to my sales rep. in over two weeks and that's a big break. Hey ! They must be doing something right. Most dealerships are like scheduleing for root canal.
    -I am so looking forward to having the space and convenience, not to mention a car that is still rare.
    -.... and to the other folks with their 'sarcie' comments about the factory visit ... I'll have you know that most responses that I get is that it's a real neat idea and unusual. Everyone from my business colleagues to my mechanic is envious. I think everyone is surprised that I am actually making the effort.
    -Even the "welcome centre" folks on the phone were 'chuffed' that I actually had a VUE coming thru.

    -No news, but I am sure I will have some great 'tid bits' from the factory floor.
    -I am going to seek out where you said I could post pics on this site so that I can have some from the trip even though they don't allow 'shop floor' photos.

    I drove on 78 in New Jersey yesterday and passed by the big auto lots near Newark. I saw about 7 yellow VUE's. I'm not really interested in the VUE because it's not up to my standards... but that was one of the nicest yellow's I have seen in a long time. A pure, clean lemon yellow.
    Give it a two-tone charcoal leather interior with better seats, more cubbies, rear disks and a full spare. Then you're talking!

    I like my Vue so far. It currently has 3500 miles and everything seems well. The only problems I have experienced so far is the cheaply made back cover. The recent heat seems to have made it fall apart at the wire. I guess cheap glue. The right armrest has a slight squeak. And the last thing is the rumbling in reverse. If you tach it at 3000 rpm it is okay. Saturn is aware of the problem and they said they will probably have a bracket to repair the problem in the future. Although they told me all of the vehicles do this, yes even the new ones. Sorry never had a vehicle with such an upsetting rumble, that is supposed to be normal.

    I have the same issue with reverse and can't believe that it is normal. Please let me know when and if they do come out with that bracket as the dealership in Canada that I go to doesn't seem to have near the information that I hear of others getting in the US.

    You may have to be a Canadian to appreciate this (or live in Detroit, Buffalo, Columbus areas) but you know what else the back cubby holes are great for, besides a milk jug ??? A Tim Horton's cup carrier fits perfectly across the back cubby hole to transport lots of coffee without worrying about one of them tipping over or sliding and staining seats or carpet.
    For US residents not familiar with Tim Horton's yet, don't worry you'll be a part of it soon! Tim Hortons is expanding into the US rather quickly and soon you will share in what seems to have become an important part of Canadian culture.

    That's funny. I am one of the few Canadians who don't care for Tim's coffee. Having grown up with strong coffee, I think their's is weak. Much prefer Second Cup, Starbucks and Timothy's coffee shop coffees.

    Just kidding ... everybody has their preference, however since the same company that owns Tim's also pays my paycheque, my preference is probably a little biased. :-)

    Actually I work on the same street as Wendy's / Tim's head office. Our office loves them in general, I have been there twice in 3 years. I am a traitor! ;-)

    We must be very close neighbors then as I also work on Wyecroft at Wendy's head office. Poor VUE is out back trying to dry off right now - where did that rain come from this morning? I never leave my sun roof open but was in a hurry and forgot it this morning - what a day for it to rain unexpectantly!

    Once you said you were on the same street, I figured that as other than Tim's and Wendy's that was the only other building I could think of that is an office building. That looks like a nice building - I really like how it is lit up at night.
    I went right by with my VUE at lunch time, on my way to Canadian Tire - I guess you'll have to be on the lookout! I saw a white one turn down Wyecroft one day and Budd's orange one is in our parking lot for lunch quite often but other than that, I haven't seen many around.

    The purple lights are cool huh? There is a white 5-speed parked in the lot everyday. A lady in one of the law offices drives it. She has had it since last winter so it must have been one of the first ones.

    So do you get discounts at Wendy's? Must be a fun place to work.

    Yes, after 16 months of looking and comparing and waiting for new models, I have at last made my purchase.
    Of my last 4 finalist, the Vue stood there on top for the longest time, however, rational had to take over the heart. Although I still think that the Vue has the best look, the value was not there. When compared to the CR-V, the Aztek and the Rendez-vous for similar prices, one can get a lot of extra that the Vue do not provide, I am sorry to say. (Mind you, one must always compromise at one point or another).
    In the last week, I went around the dealers with my wife and tried the last final 4 (Vue, CRV, Aztek and RDV), asking for final prices to all of them. This is when one try models back to back that one can notice the lack of certain functions or conveniance from one to the other. (One thing that the Vue lacks is the storage space - no room for map, purches, coins, glasses etc).
    In any case, this time around we settled for a 2002 Rendez Vous CX with Versitality package (half-leather seats, 3rd row etc)and tow package- all within 300$ of the Vue (with side airbags and ABS).
    I am convinced that the Vue is a great vehicle, but in my view, it lack behind in features - they should have worked (for the 2003)for better internal storage, windows lift gate, increased towing, lower prices, more included stuff like ABS, side airbags, roof rack etc). Everything should not be an option in my view.

    I would like to thank all those who have help me make my choice. I will still continue to follow the Vue's evolution. Perhaps in a few year, I will purchase one too.

    So a suggestion for all those undecided: take your time and compare. You will have to compromise at one time, but some compromises are easier than others.

    I liked watching the doughnut making process at the Krispy Kreme on Mavis Rd. I try to imagine that one of them is mine. It was an adventure our whole family enjoyed.

    duke:: We looked at the Rendezvous and it's nice inside, but the out side was a little old for us. We are both in out mid-20's so we wanted something a little more hip. Maybe in 5-10 years.

    orangelebaron:: Have not seen a yellow, but if it were available when we bought we would have got one. From the pictures it looks really slick.

    Does the white one parked there have a mickey mouse head on the antenna? It was hilarious ... mine is a red 5 spd. with a black mickey mouse on the antenna, and one night I was getting off the QEW at Appleby and a white 5 speed pulled up next to me with a mickey on the antenna also. If it is her we should probably be carpooling but I don't think I could give up driving my VUE everyday!

    Wendy's is a great place to work - they are very good to their employees. I work in the operations department, doing all 'special projects' so I have a really diverse job and it can be a lot of fun at times.

    vuefor2 - we have one Krispy Kreme in all of Canada right now. I had visitors from out of town last week and we had to drive for about a half an hour so they could try it.

    We'll soon have another Krispy Kreme, in Don Mills, I believe. The Mavis Rd. Krispy Kreme gang really gets "chuffed" when I come in and press my face up against the glass, cheeks puffed like a blowfish.
    Going is on August 6 to see them do a batch of coconut ones. Always wondered how they got the coconut to stay on. Goin' to find out!
    Also got my invite to the upcoming Saturn party in September!

    mmspeal - I think she has something on the antenna, not sure what. Funny story, amazing finding a person on the internet so close. I love Krispy Kremes, I bring them to my family in Kingston when we go.

    -I think I'm like the VUEfor2 folks ... not quite the 'hip' twenties, but I am following the heart as much as anything else. Still very excited for my blue VUE due this month ... hopefully after, and not before I visit the Saturn factory next weekend.
    -Hope you have enjoyed all this debate. I certainly have. Making all these new friends ... and maybe not so 'friends' too.
    -I will be interested to see how you feel a few years down the road so .... "don't be a stranger ... ya heeer" !

    Yes I will follow the evolution of the Vue. By the way, I am still a Saturn owner ( SW1 -1995).
    Good choice on the blue, that would have been my choice too for a 2003.
    Nice looking vehicle, best of all SUV, in my view. After the work a few things out, it will be a winner.

    Well, it doesn't appear there is much change for 2003 aside from some new colors. My big nit pick with our Vue is the interior materials (which are ok but could be better). I think it's a great little SUV and we couldn't be happier.

    I've seen a few other Vue's on the road this week so sales must be picking up. When we got ours in the spring it seemed like we were the only Vue on the road.

    I am typically very hard on a vehicle so I don't mind the interior at all. I've had lumber and other gardening stuff in it and I've also had a pile of lumber fall over when I hit a corner (a little too fast). The plastic seems to really stand up to the abuse - I wiped it all down with armour all the other day and it looks as good as new!

    The one thing I really wish is that they had put in a tailgate release. It is very difficult to get it open when you are carrying a bunch of stuff. If the remote entry would pop it instead of just unlock it, it would have been a lot more convenient.

    I was in Buffalo, NY last week and saw several Tim Hortons around there. I passed (didn't see any KK's either). Gehe, if you cruise on down to Chattanooga this (next?) month after picking up your new Saturn, there's a KK that's been there for years (25 at least) that still makes great sliders. Sounds like a fun trip, donuts or not.

    There is a KK in front of one of the big malls in Buffalo (the name escapes me, not the Walden Galleria). All I remember was in the north end of the city.

    Went to KK's after dinner Saturday and picked up a dozen to freeze. Mmmmmm!

    I am curious how the Vue behaves in strong cross winds on the highway and dealing with the wake of trucks.I would like to hear about 4 cyl Vue highway performance since it is lighter.

    -I'm actually flying into Nashville Saturday night and heading up to Lexington, KY, to pick-up my niece and driving over to Louisville to visit an old college buddy. (Not often you get to go down South).
    -I hear from my "huggable" Saturn salesperson that the yellows are in. No news on the "bright blues" which is good news for me. Want to see Saturn before mine arrives.
    -Got behind a gold VUE on Monday on the NJ Turnpike. A rare sight. I trailed it and just 'soaked' in the beauty !

    Dindak, I was good in NY and kept driving by the Tim Hortons and didn't check the yellow pages for Krispy Kreme's. So I only gained 3 pounds on the week off.

    Gehe, anything tasty that goes down easy can be called a "slider" - in addition to KK's, I used to get these burgers down south (no, not Krystals). When the patty floated to the surface of the hot grease they were ready to "slide down."

    I don't know what you mean about the pics unless you need help in posting some. Those instructions are in the Town Hall help. Our Vue pics can be found in the vehicle information pages (drill down from the "New" link at the top).

    My V6-AWD VUE has a scratchy noise coming from the center vent whenever I go over 110k (65mph). The problem disappears as soon as my speed drops to under 100.

    Only have 700kms on it up to now.

    No other problems up to this point, has anybody encountered this noise other than myself?.

    Love the VUE, but noises like this is a bit annoying.

    Met a guy at Starbucks this morning who parked his Vue beside mine so we got to talking. He had a fairly loaded 4 cyl. 5-speed model with a sunroof in the black. Very nice, first time I had seen that color. Anyway, he said the only problem he had was with the 5-speed clunking a bit and I remembered there were a few here in the forum that had that problem also.

    Anyway, he said the dealer did some adjustments and it was fine now. Nice to see a few other Vue's on the road now, though I still get lots of stares at my beautiful red truck!

    It happens with the fan on or off, a/c on or off, recirculate on or off, but only at 60mph or higher.

    I turned off the radio,a/c and fan and it still happened.

    If it continues I will have it looked at by the dealership.

    -Noted pic post etc. I was talking about personal VUE owners and their car pics like Saturn Fans has. I think that would be really neat.
    -I popped into my Saturn Dealership last night on the way to my Mac user group and saw some of the new 2003 colors.
    -The Black is "as black as my hat" ... black, black, not "metal flake".
    -The Yellow is great. Not too sour, not too "crayola", not too "Daisy". (Okay .... I'm a Designer HERE ! I'm allowed to get "involved" with color !!)
    -The red is ... well ... perfect. It's the best red I've seen in a car. Not too blue, not too orange. Just deep and rich.
    -So I will see my 'BRIGHT BLUE' on Monday at the factory.
    -Got to go ... got a plane to catch ...

    We have only had our 2002 AWD since Feb but we already have 15000 miles on it. So far we have been very happy with everything! The engine has run like a top, breaks well and is as easy to load and unload as a vehicle can be. If there were to be any sort of a complaint, that would be that there is a bit of rattling when we drive on dirt roads which happens to be every day. But show me any vehicle in Alaska that doesn't rattle on the rough. I'm sort of sorry to say that we don't have a KK factory to visit here in Ak, but I wouldn't have any worries about driving to the nearest one which is probably in Seattle.

    Y'all were supposed to get one this year (as was Boise), but guess things are slow getting going. Why are you driving gravel everyday - do you live up Crow Creek road or something? That's a lot of miles too, so I guess you must be commuting along scenic Turnagain Arm. Oh well, the road's will freeze over soon enough and get smooth again (until it rains, LOL).

    You guessed it! We live in Girdwood but on the other side of the valley from Crow Creek. We've got rutts on our road that would cross the Popes eyes. The road from Girdwood to Anchorage via Turnagain is in as good of shape as it's been in for 25 years. By the way, if we decide to pass another vehicle on the Seward Hiway we are always happy with the get up and go of the VUE. The VUE in Girdwood is always good as is the never ending VUE of Turnagain Arm.

    We just got a KK last year and it's been a huge hit here in the west Toronto area. They are opening 2 more in the fall which should shorten up the lines. That said, the longer the line, the more free donuts you get in line. Mmmmm!

    Glad to hear you are still enjoying your VUE. I remember you were one of the first on the board to get one.

    I was reading that the VUE may be getting a Honda V6 to replace the 3.0L V6 starting next year. Anyone know if this is true?

    Apparently GM is trading diesel engines in Europe for for V6 engines to be used by Saturn in North America. Definitely an interesting twist if it's true.
