I really like Thanksgiving, it comes in Oct in Canada, and Nov in the U.S., twice as much turkey!
After eating way too much dry/bland turkey in my youth, I was convinced that the Pilgrims ate turkey because it was available, not because it was tasty, but having the traditional Thanksgiving lunch/dinner at Ruth's Chris a few times made me reconsider my stance on turkey.
That's why they have stuffing and cranberries, and when you have all the extras it makes a very decadent meal, one that we only have a few times a year, making it extra special.
LOL, having to decide between a nice butterball turkey or a nice steak. That’s definitely a first world problem.😂

Most people follow the cooking directions that come with the turkey, mainly cooking until the pop up thingy pops up. When that thing pops up the bird is over cooked. Mrs. j cooks the turkey for about an hour less than the recommended time and she always puts the turkey in one of those plastic cooking bags. You’ll never have a dried out bird cooking it like that.
While it;s true that using the plastic bag thingy prevents getting a dried-out bird, I find the plastic thingy to be tough, chewy and flavorless.

There is a glass of Eagle Rare waiting for me at home … (or maybe Weller 12)
There was no bourbon last night… I needed wine for what I was cooking so decided to drink that since I opened the bottle.
It was a young 2024 Barbera … crafted by my wife and I. Yes.. we make our own wine
As for Turkey - the best way I have found to cook one is to spatchcock it. Cooks faster and more evenly. The dark meat gets cooked nicely without drying out the breast. Pull it at 160 on the white meat and give a long rest.

———————————————— You must have some bad plastic in Canada. I’ll have to invite you over for Thanksgiving someday, American Thanksgiving, of course. That way you’ll know how good a Turkey can taste when it’s cooked properly.
EDIT: Upon reading your post again I now see you are probably talking about the plastic bag itself and not the turkey. Therefore, my invite is off. You ain’t gettin a free meal from me for trying to be cute.

Update on the internet/cable service we were discussing a couple of days ago: I got my latest bill which reflected the expiry of a couple of discounts that were applied a couple of years ago. For a pretty basic group of TV channels and home internet it was just over $200 in worthless Canadian dollars a month and way too much.
There are only 2 providers locally, a regional operator who I am with and the national outfit Bell, who lots of people hate and who have a rep of being expensive. I know a few people who use Bell for TV and none of them are particularly happy with their offering but I suspect a lot of that is from it being an IP digital offering which has a lousy/complex interface compared to the old-style coax service which seemed pretty simple. Their customer service is apparently pretty bad as well based upon my brother's recent experience. My TV from the regional outfit I've been with has been IP-based also for the last couple of years, no more coax, but through a TiVo interface which isn't great but which somewhat resembles the old cable style.
A week or so before I got that $200 cable bill a Bell guy was working my street and offered me what seemed to be equivalent TV and maybe even faster internet for $80 a month for the first year. That was hard to ignore once I got the latest bill. On Monday I called my provider and after a very long hold spoke to their rep. Explained the offer I got from the competition and he immediately cut me down to $120/mo without a lot of fuss and also bumped up my connection to 1 gig, whatever that means. If I threatened them a bit more I know he would have sent me to the retention department who could have given me an even better deal, but I'll save that for next year. Saving over $80/mo. works for now.

We were paying $240 a month for TV Cable, internet and $100 a month for Bell telephone. Over $350 a month with taxes. Bell put in new Fiber Optic and said they'd give us all 3 for $140 a month. I signed up, they'd install it in one week. My current cable company said they would give me a better deal. I said impossible. He worked out to $125 a month for all 3. The Bell system is better, but I don't want to return my cable stuff and learn a new method, and people we know who switched went back to the cable company, friends had issues when they needed help, Bell has poor customer service, their prices skyrocket after the deal expires, their agents are in some country where English must be a 10th language.......the cable company has agents who speak English. I am glad we didn't switch!

Honestly all you really need these days is a good 300 mb/s or more internet connection and then just pick your streaming services.
We have Gigibit at home (1000+) and 300 at the shore. I notice a difference so more is better.
I’d say 300 is the min these days if you’re streaming and working from home.

I am at the stage in life where I don't want to have to navigate systems to get local news, or find sports channels, or watch Judge Judy etc. I am willing to pay for convenience and get the channels I want. It isn't my money, I am spending my children's inheritance money.

In all honesty if it was just me I’d have internet only. I could care less about the rest. I get my news from the internet and don’t watch much TV
My kids and mom watch the most.
YouTube and maybe Netflix would be more than enough

I could get by on a 50 or 100 megabit connection at home. Fun story, at my old job, our internet was something like a 20 megabit download / 2 megabit upload from AT&T. I had gently complained for years that we should probably get a higher speed connection for an office of 25-ish people. Of course, the SHTF when everyone was sent home and had to use Remote Desktop Connection to access their physical computers in the building. It got upgraded within a few weeks. They later went to a Citrix virtual desktop in the cloud that anyone could access without connecting to anything in the building. The new job is all cloud-based.
Plus our local news station I like (6ABC) streams the news for free
It’s the best news in Philly @stickguy will back me up on this.
Oh yeah. Not even close. Occasionally if something was on that station (game running long) and wife wanted to see the news we put on another station, and couldn't understand why anyone chose to watch them.

Well, I kicked off AMW by sleeping in and ordering a banh mi sandwich on DoorDash. The Maverick could use a hand wash and coat of sealant, but it's too hot to do that today (or anytime soon). It goes in for its annual service (and recalls) the week after next.

I doubt those hot dogs got even warm. I do remember seeing a guy wrap hamburger in aluminum foil once and sticking it down on the exhaust manifold of his truck. He went out for a beer run and the meat was cooked by the time he got back.

Admittedly, I've only been out of the car buying phase for about a year, but I'll be danged if I can find invoice/employee pricing, etc. Want to look at a Ford Maverick. Dealers only show a "discount". Not that I don't trust them, but I'm trying to nail down employee discount plus rebates plus dealer invoice is on these vehicles and can't find it.
Secondarily, actually looking at a JGC. I see great lease rates, but no pricing info other than they are offering "employee pricing" too.
