Mine was the ignition coil connector. Try wiggling the wires at the connector and if it stalls problem solved. If it won't start try the same thing wiggle then try to start. You can pick up a new connector at any parts chain for around $35. Splice it in and your all set.

has anyone thought of checking the egr? I have been driving chev trucks all my life and I am now 55 years old. every time this happened to me it was the egr. check that cause if it wont open when the engine warms up the engine will stall and wont restart til it cools down.

I have a 2003 Silverado, 5.3 V8.  was having similar issues as most posted here.  since my fuel pump and transmission were both less than a year old, I dug into other options and ended up replacing the throttle body.  seems to have done the trick thus far, but it's only been 2 days and my issues were intermittent.  Good luck

Hello. I own a 2000 silverado 4.8/2wd. My truck starts up just fine, but as soon as it goes in reverse it dies.. I put it in neutral, start it back up, put it in drive and it dies.. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and (IAC). Please give me some clue as to where i need to begin. Thanks in advance..

So as soon as it's in gear, it dies? Could be a vacuum leak or faulty MAP sensor. The MAP sensor detects the engine load and generates a signal that is proportional to the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. The ECU uses this information to adjust ignition timing and fuel enrichment relative to the amount of power needed.

Would it throw off a code for the MAP sensor or vacuum leak?
