I'll be at both. Let's plan on more get-togethers!

In philly since Patti will be there, maybe we can get to sit in the WRX? Hint Hint, suttle suttle.

definitely going to be at Philly? I hadn't heard that its showing (at Philly) had been "officially" OK'd.

We need to find that out. I'll e-mail Patti.

B-town was fun, indeed. The show is only slightly smaller than the DC Auto Show, and it was nice to see a different setting. The highlight was the BMW motorcycle stand - WOW!

I was disappointed that the ST-X was not shown. Not a single Subaru concept car or pre-production car was, in fact. Fleet-X was also MIA. Forester Woody. Bummer.

I'll share photos a little later today.

I just got a confirmation on the WRX at Auto Shows. The following information is in the order of appearance:

    Portland
    Philadelphia
    Chicago
    Pittsburgh
    Minneapolis
    Denver
    Atlanta
    New York

What day is everyone heading to Philly so I can try to schedule some time?
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Now I gotta go. But can I leave the wife alone for another full day?

Quick - what's the number for that flower place? ;-)

You ROCK! Juice, I'm now thinking of marketing the NY show as a weekend in the Big Apple while the grandparents spoil the children. Like going out on a *gasp* date. Ooh, I'm getting goose bumps. Maybe go up for the public preview Friday 13 April 1-8pm to avoid the weekend crowd; wife joins me that night for a Broadway show; get wasted Saturday and Sunday. NEWSFLASH I'm out of college and have children. Anyway I think we might find a thing or two to do in NY.. SR-71 (or was it YF-12) on the aricraft carrier in the harbor; oops I mean musuems and shopping.

Ahh - so nice to hear that the romance is still alive and well in your marriage. Thanks for your nice comment (I like hearing that I "rock"). It made me chuckle out loud during a rather hectic day!

Thanks. Photopoint is a great host site, for anyone interested.

We took a shot with me laying down in front of the Subaru carpet, but it was just too goofy to share.

Mike - now I need an excuse to be in New York. I have a friend living in Brooklyn I could visit. Gotta convince the wife.

Funny coincidence - she's a lesbian, so she should feel right at home in the Forester!

I should have my XT6 fixed by then, keeping fingers crossed.
I know a few resturants in the city we could go to afterward too.

I know I'm a bit overweight, but did you have to list my name twice in one photo?

Thanks for sharing the pics of the show. Sounds like you guys had fun!

I'll be going to the Chicago autoshow. I was hoping the WRX would make it there - Patti, thanks for sharing the WRX apperances. I'll take plenty of pics that day!

I'm planning on going either Feb 3 or 4.

Let's set a date for the philly show, since patti will be there at some point she may join us.

Man, that thing is UGLY! I know show cars are over-done, but that could scare Hell's Angels!

Man, Philly is this weekend! It really snuck up on me. My bother-in-law is getting married and we'll be out of town.

I'll try to make the New York show a family outing - i.e. we'll take the whole family to visit some friends on mine in Brooklyn.

It would be cool to take the May-Lewis ferry. Also, the shopping in close-by Rehoboth is pretty good, and no state sales tax in Deleware!

It's a bit of a drive, though. 2.5 hours or so for me, so I'd have to hook up with a friend that owns a property out there.

    -juice
  • bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Hmm, I wonder if 25-30 Subes would fit on the ferry? That would be interesting!

Are we gonna do this? Let's setup some plans for either this weekend or next!

    Okay, here are my preferences:

    1) Saturday Feb 3, early.

    2) Sunday Feb 4, early.

I've been waiting to hear from a buddy of mine as well as from folks here, but time has gotten too short to wait any longer. Saturday Feb 3 is my day to be there - unless a group of folks finally makes up their minds on another time to meet.

    Cheers,

    -wdb

  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Hmmm... as Juice said: This snuck up on me too.

Since Saturday is my birthday, it certainly would be a nice birthday present to see the WRX, meet Patti, Paisa and WDB (again).

I gotta check with the wife first. If I do go, I will certainly let you know. What time does everybody plan on being there? Philly is about 100 miles from where I live, so I wouldn't be there until sometime around noon or a bit later, if I go.

Patti- Will the WRX be on a display turntable, or will there one on the floor in which we can sit in and "fondle"?

My wife and I could probably go Sunday. I'm autocrossing in NYC on Saturday (i.e. driving into Manhattan to see friends).

    Dennis
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
...though I could try Saturday. Knowing my life, though, Sat. may be full of honeydos so Sunday will be the likely scenario. In either case, I will wear my SWRT fleece jacket so as to be conspicuous.

You guys ought to go on BOTH days. Get two groups together, one for each day.

In Baltimore, we met at a certain entrance at a certain time, and exchanged cell phone #'s just in case (which we needed later).

Worked like a charm. We had a good dozen or so in our group. The hard part was staying together! They were all chatting while Bob and I went to actually check out the new vehicles!

Apologies for not chiming in earlier WDB. My current thinking (subject to spousal correction) is to hit the NY show with Bob in April to see Subaru's MY02 Legacy display. Wish I could make it to meet Ed, Dennis and Patti. So many shows, so little time..

Dennis, thanks for the Cape May reminder. I saw that on i Club and was planning on attending but alas, the timing's not right. :( My kids really liked the ferry, esp. in rough seas (1999 Labor Day).

    I'm in.

Which day? Sat. or Sun.? What time? And where do we meet?

Anybody else from Maryland going? If so, I don't mind driving. I can pile 4 into my Explorer (Argh!, I know... but it's roomier than any Sube.) Note: Since I've never been to the Philly show, allow some time for me getting lost.

Juice is absolutely right about using a cell phone to keep in touch. It is soooo easy to get separated at these kinds of events. I'll bring mine. If anybody wants my cell phone #, e-mail me directly.

I should be there as well. I'll try to get there even earlier though. I'll probably wear a black Subaru jacket.

some old fat guy wearing a white Subaru baseball cap and a brown jacket. That'll be me.

    Bob - Lol!

Now where's Patti? Out driving a VDC?
How about a test drive session afterwards? :-) Cherry Hill is very close.

    Dennis
  • francophilefrancophile Member Posts: 667
Is VERY close - like 15 minutes! Hey, do they have a test track? Maybe we could use the horse track nearby. I'm picturing a stable of WRX's...

    Heh.

I think I can sway her a bit by working lunch/brunch into the deal. Plus she's going to need to buy something new in the next 12-18 months so it won't hurt her to see what's new and different out there.

This is my first visit to Philly (other than the zoo :) ). Where's the best place to park? At the convention center or nearby?

    Dennis
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
But I'm the luckiest parker ever...

    9/10 times I find a spot within 15minutes.

I'm not sure who all I'll be dragging with me, but maybe I'll make a sign like the limo drivers hold up at the airport - EDMUNDS.COM

    See you there!!

Excellent! How did you make out with those WRX test drives...?

Kidding! I look forward to meeting you and all the Edmundites I haven't met yet.

...at the auto show on Sunday. Patti: I'm taking the Forester in on Friday for 18K service and to have the radiator, hoses etc. checked out. Will have followup for you then.

    Take care,

Is the new Mini going to be there? That is the only way I'll get Kirsten to go to ANOTHER autoshow this month!
