"Also am now a certified NASA instructor"

Does that mean you will get to re-qualify the Space Shuttle? ;-)

It was a full day of classroom and on-track training on top of our HPDE Track Resume. I'm glad to help out and give back a bit to the road racing community. Also serves as a learning tool for myself, by explaining you also teach yourself as well as getting 3x the seat time at every event will help too.

I see Subaru is a sponsor here. I wonder if they'll have the new Outback and Legacy there? (Patti, any idea as to what SOA will be showing?) And if so, will be able to sit in them? I'm sure the Baja will be featured for this group.

This show I could probably get my wife to go to.

    Any FATT dates?

Friday is easier for me 'cause I'd just take the whole day off and the kids could stay home.

There are some, although I think not til May, sign up soon, cause they are filling the novice classes quickly. Here is a link to FATTs. Sign up and request me as your instructor, I have fridays off so I'll likely be at all of them.

June 18th I'll be there if you are going! No other racing events that weekend so let me know if you signup for that one and I'll be there.

SC is the new shenendoah circuit at Slummit Point.

It is good? Or should we stick with the traditional course? The carrousel looked fun to me.

But it is a good one and the surface will be AWSOME since it hasn't even been driven yet! :) Any track time is good track time.

It is shorter or longer? More turns, or less? I want it to be as complex as possible so I can learn more.

As always if you want some inside-subie instruction ask for me to instruct you when you signup :) E-mail me directly to get my name if you'd like to have me as your instructor... (I had to edit this cause apparently I can't put my name in here, it would be funny though if your requested "Paisan" as your instructor)

See you all at the track.

What would I qualify for? HPDE? 1, 2?

When we went to watch you, what did that female friend register for? Is that what I would do the first time?

    -juice
  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
You would Run in Novice or HPDE 1. Depening on which club you reg with, some call it Novice, some call it HPDE 1.

You start there and your instructors will sign you off as he sees fit for you to move up to higher levels.

    Hello all,

Poking my head up from the mire to check in and try to catch up on all the posts.

We're still planning to attend the flower show Friday evening (Patti, we're going to have to get a sitter - he's just not ready for that kind of outing in the evening). Hopefully I'll see some of you there.

Get a snugli or a back pack style carrier. I carried my daughter around (6 months, about 20 lbs IIRC) for 7 hours straight in New York City!

Mike - I may do stand by on one of the earlier dates. We may have a real estate deal going on this spring/summer so it's hard for me to know my schedule that far in advance.

My friend Greg, who also teaches FATT, said it's likely I could get in on stand-by basis, what do you think?

    go to MCDonalds everyday
  • lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
juice: We have both a Snugli and a Kelty carrier (got the latter cheap with REI patronage dividend, Snugli still cheaper). It's just that the times for the SoA VIP event coincide with the times that the baby starts to settle in for the evening, a/k/a his "fussy period." They're getting shorter to be sure, but still this would amount to a greater disruption to his schedule than to ours.

Anyone for April 9- the day it opens? That's Good Friday, so there is no work for me. Otherwise, either after work or a weekend.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I prefer a weekday, so the 9th is good for me. Bob? Want to drive up together again like last year?

Subaru - please show the 7 seater concept!

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
    Nasa-x will be the Legacy
HPDE will be the Franken L

The legacy may see an HPDE here and there especially VIR which is a haul.

    -mike
  • rob_mrob_m Member Posts: 820
Mike, did you pick any names for the Legacy?
  • hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
Besides the Grand Prix... er Primer, Franken L, don't think mike name's his car.

Cherry came to mind when I first saw it.

How firm are the plans for Friday, April 9th? My DW wants to do something else that weekend, so I may not be able to get to NYC until the following week. Anybody else thinking of going later?
