From a press release dispersed just today:

"And this June, Hyundai's all-new 2007 Santa Fe mid-size crossover debuts with standard ESC, six airbags, and a starting price below the outgoing model, rounding out Hyundai's suite of vehicles equipped with standard ESC, and accounting for more than 70 percent of 2007 model year sales volume."

So I too am looking into leasing this thing probably around august.. Im also considering the pathfinder and 4runner.. Price will dictate the outcome. I know the santa fe is smaller but i like it alot and I dont need a huge car.

Yeah, it seems to hold its own quite well compared to the other two:

    1st row (40.2) (39.7) (40.0)
    2nd row (39.6) (39.1) (39.9)
    3rd row (34.8) (32.9) (36.7)

    Shoulder room
    1st row (59.5) (58.0) (58.3)
    2nd row (58.6) (57.2) (58.4)
    3rd row (53.9) (56.7) (57.1)

    Legroom
    1st row (42.6) (41.8) (42.4)
    2nd row (36.8) (34.6) (34.2)
    3rd row (32.2) (24.1) (28.1)

    EPA-rated cargo space, 2nd row up/down (34.2 / 79.4) (36.6 / 72.4) (49.2 / 79.2)

this thing is gonna be available on june 1? Shouldnt they be doing more marketing.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Maybe they are too busy selling... the '06 Santa Fe's! They are the subject of big ads in my local paper this weekend. Big rebates/discounts on them, to clear them out. I imagine they will be a tough sell once the general public sees and drives the '07.
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
I heard that the marketing campaign won't start until the 1st of July -- a month after the vehicle is supposedly set to debut.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
FWIW, I walked through my local Hyundai dealer's lot today and there were no 2007 Santa Fe's. At least 15 2006s though. It's possible they have an off-site lot however.
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
Well, no one should have any until sometime next week at the earliest. They won't be able to sell them 'til Thursday, anyway.

I have a 2000 XLE with over 100K and, exept for new tires at 71k, have not put a nickel into it. Rides as smoth and quiet as day one.

I am interested in a RAV4 to replace my 14 year old Checvy truck, but the prices seem stiff. I have looked at the Grand Vitara, but the new Hyundai sounds interesting.

It is very hard to beat a 4-Runner lease. The residual values (59% on a 3-year lease)are very high and Toyota provides lease interest support which makes the rate one of the best around (When I last looked in March the equivalent interest rate was 1.32%). Since these two factors determine the lease cost, the 4-Runner is a no brainer. If you are only considering a lease go with a proven low cost performer.

I really want to like the Hyundai product either the Santa Fe or the Azera. Until the vehicles can retain more of their value a consumer based decision says beware.

If you can purchase the Hyundai product and are willing to hold it for 10 years, then a Hyundai makes sense with the 10-year warranty.

I stopped at a local dealer this morning and called another one 100 miles away, regarding June 1st release of the 07 Santa Fe
I was told by both dealers that it will now NOT be released until late June or July 1st, as there are too many unsold 06 Santa Fe's out there
Really Disappointed! Anyone else have further info?
  • reca1reca1 Member Posts: 14
I've been told by 2 local dealers that the 07 Santa Fe won't be available until July & they have no information on the price as of yet. I guess the 06 inventory is still too high.
  • zubinh1zubinh1 Member Posts: 18
Makes sense to me. My dealer has no clue when they'll be in. Didn't production start in late April anyway? How many Santa Fe's can they build in a month?
  • joe97joe97 Member Posts: 2,248
I've been told a local dealer in Candada has at least one SF in stock.

Production has been ramping up, to the best of my knowledge. Look for them to be available shortly at showroom but do check with you local dealers for allocation timing.

Last Saturday, I asked our local dealership when the 07 Santa Fe was coming out. They said that they were told that Hyundai is in 'no hurry' to get the 07's out to them because of the current 06 inventory. That's not to say that they might receive one or two 07's in June, but they were told not to expect too many until later in the summer. I did see a few 06's still sitting on their lot.
  • jveneziajvenezia Member Posts: 85
Good time to get a deal on an '06...but who'd want to? With such a superior vehicle coming out I think the market for '06 Santa Fes just dried up. Maybe Hyundai will have a red tag sale. Buy one get one free?

"Didn't production start in late April anyway? How many Santa Fe's can they build in a month?"

Since the first official production date (18 April), they've manufactured over 4,300 Santa Fes. That's about six units per dealership in the US.

Thats pretty darn amazing. If they built 4000 in may assuming a 6 day work week thats about 165 Santa Fe's a day. Wow! Now if an Alabama resident could kindly jump on one of the trucks carrying them and get a peek at the sticker price, that would be nice.

"Now if an Alabama resident could kindly jump on one of the trucks carrying them and get a peek at the sticker price, that would be nice."

Heck, yeah! That's what I'm talkin' about! LOL!

Hey, as an aside, one of the local dealerships around here only has 8 or 9 Santa Fes left....

The automation process at HMMA makes possible for the fast production pace. If I recall, they were building quite a few Sonatas before SFs joined the lineup there. The capacity at the new plant can handle 300K/year, if I recall.

    Go robots :)

    Holy crapola,

Hyundai just updated the special offers page on their website. A whopping $4,000 rebate for existing hyundai owners $3k for non) and 0% financing for 5 years on the 06 Santa Fe's.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
As expected. But note it's $3000 or 0% financing, plus the $1000 loyalty rebate. Move 'em out!!
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
On another Santa Fe message board, an individual from New Jersey claims that the '07s are available there.

I have been looking at the 2006 Toyota RAV4 (they start taking 2007 orders in a few days), the 2007 Mazda CX-7, the 2007 Ford Edge, the 2007 Acura RDX, but was just unaware of the 2007 Hundai Santa Fe until yesterday. Cars are a hobby for me, but I am busy enough with my work that I completely missed the Santa Fe until now.

I read on this website somewhere that side airbags will be standard for all 3 rows in the 2007 Santa Fe. If the 3rd row seat is only an option, could this be true? and if so.. will any other crossovers be doing this for '07.. RAV4, etc.? thanks in advance
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
You are correct: three-row side curtain airbags are standard on both 5- and 7-passenger Santa Fes.

Just working off the top of my head, I personally am not aware of any other SUVs that will be newly offering this feature for the '07 model year. I will check my sources though -- just in case.

Does anyone know how much the 2007 Santa Fe will weigh?
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
HMA hasn't publicly released that information yet, but the diesel-powered Korean units weigh 3936-4200 lbs depending on drivetrain, transmission, and trim.

Do you think they will offer it, i have seen it on the korean ones but not on the american site. i think this would be a clincher item for some people. but other than that i love the santa fe and might very well buy one ! :shades:
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
Well, it will eventually be offered as a dealer-installed option -- at a cost of around $2000. I'm not sure yet exactly when this will be, but I suspect that it will take at least several months.

Hello everyone! I’m new here. I live in the UAE, and lucky me, I’m picking up my Santa after tomorrow from the show room. Here actually you can see some on the streets already. I’m quiet surprised that it came here this early.
The different is the options. You don’t get here side or curtain air bags with non of the three available choice. I think it’s silly that I can’t even order it with it.
Anyway, I can’t wait to try it. It will be my first Hyundai and I’m confident that it will be a good experience.
I wanted to by the Honda CRV or MRV but they have it only with a beige interior and don’t like that. So lets see what Hyundai can do! :D

Does anyone know how you access the 3rd row seat? I was told over the phone from a Hyundai saleman that the second row had captain's chairs and you acess the 3rd seat going between the second row of captain's seats. When I go online it doesn't look like that is the case. Is it more accessible than the Rav4 or Highlander 3rd seat? Hopefully it is, otherwise it is pretty much useless. Does anyone know?
  • zubinh1zubinh1 Member Posts: 18
Yup I did this when I saw the Santa Fe at the auto show. Just fold the second row seats forward a bit and then you squeeze in. Pull the second row seat back towards you when youre seated. My wife tried it. She said it was comfortable back there BUT getting in and out was a real pain. I'd say it was just as accessable as rav4 or highlander. I think the third row is best left to the little people.
  • zubinh1zubinh1 Member Posts: 18
Three weeks until the supposed launch date and no press release on pricing? What gives?!?!?!?
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
LOL! The Entourage does have 2nd-row captain's chairs, but the Santa Fe has a 60/40-split folding bench seat.

Like zubinh1 said, you can fold down the 40-split seatback and flip the rear base of the seat up and forward. The 60-split seatback folds, but I'm unsure if it too flips forward.

I took it yesterday from the show room. The car is awesome. It looks great inside and out. It’s really quiet and smooth. The one thing is that the engine is not so powerful. I’ve got the 2.7L and it doesn’t really pull. But I still have to wait a little, because I didn’t go above 3500RPM yet.

I paid around $25000. But as I said before it doesn't have all the options that the European or American will have I guess.

Found this today it was just updated with the new 07 Santa Fe info, within the last few days because i check it almost every two days. It is basically a website where dealers get into to review the new model before or when it comes to showrooms. 2007 Hyundai Elantra was also added.

Great stuff! I'm a little surprised that such info is allowed without a login. I'm also a little surprised with the engine specs - 3.3 liter @ 200 hp. What happened to the larger engine with more horsepower? Maybe they didn't have that information yet when this training material was produced.
  • mike_belknapmike_belknap Member Posts: 378
Yeah, that was an oversight -- some of those were leftover specs from the last generation's V6s: the 200-hp Sigma 3.5-liter and the 170-hp Delta 2.7-liter. The 3.3-liter Lambda is really rated at 242-horsepower and 226 lb.-ft. of torque, while the Mu 2.7-liter V6 is 185 and 183, respectively.
