Well why is it so quite in here. Where are all the 09 Murano owners?
Please let us know how you like the ride and how is the mileage.
Thanks and enjoy your new ride.

I am in the process to purchase the 09 Murano LE with NAv and RSES. So far, I like it overall. Certainly would like to hear more commemts from current owner. I know the car is relatively new on the market, and I would imagine there are only few had taken the delivery so far. One of my local dealer had their first LE on 2/9/08 and I have not yet seen any on the road in my area yet......

Saw the commercials on TV so my fiance and I went to the dealership for a test drive. We had looked at the 2007 Murano but the fact that it had a cassette player left a bad taste in my mouth. The 2009 is definitely an improvement. What an awesome SUV!

    1. You could not feel the gears change at all. We have a '99 Corolla right now, so I can feel when gears are shifting. The acceleration was quick like Speedy Gonzalez.

    2. The Bluetooth option is actually compatible with my phone (Palm Treo 700wx). I forgot to un-sync my phone with the one we test-drove. Hopefully my phone directory isn't stored there forever.

    3. The Navigation system has voice recognition, and the display is touch screen. Though it looks small in pictures, the display is actually decent sized and easily viewed from the driver's or front passenger's seats.

    3. It fits people of all sizes comfortably, from 5' 2" and 105lbs to 6' 2" and 200lbs.

    4. The interior is to die for. So much storage space for both the front and rear passengers. Not good for a packrat like myself.

The thing that sold me was the Intelligent Key. I love the fact that you don't have to put it in the 'key slot' to turn the car on. You can keep it in your pocket or purse, but as long as it is in the vicinity, you can turn on the ignition. Love it!

My fiance's only gripe was the fact that you have to go through a lot of trouble to get to the spare tire. Apparently the woofer is located on top of it, and is held down by a giant bolt thing. You just have to take a trunk panel off, unscrew the bolt, remove the woofer and you got your spare tire. I told him, you're already f*cked anyway if you have a flat tire, who cares if you have to go through a few extra steps!

The trim level we test drove was the top of the line, LE with the Navigation and the Moonroof Packages. I told the salesperson that we weren't buying right then, but they gave us a price anyway. They offered it to us at $35538, about a grand below invoice. Apparently, because they just came out, the dealership was eager to get their stock out on the road. Still didn't bite though; I'd like to see more reviews especially on reliability. But if I keep dreaming about the Murano, like I've been the 4 past nights since the test-drive, we might just buy it. At the end of the month, of course! :P

Bought the wife a new '09 SL with plenty goodies for V-Day. Bought it out of state and drove it home on Sunday. Wonderful, she loves it and I have to figure out all the cool stuff it can do. Got an SL with Navi, Dual Sun Roof, Leather, Premium Package, Tech Package and of course the illuminated door sills. 2WD. Thought about the LE but only liked the wheels and wood trim. Not worth the extra $$ and we don't need 4WD. Traded in a Tahoe Z71, only used the 4WD twice both times to cross the median. I would highly recommend the '09 Murano.

My SL that I spoke of (#169) has AV jacks in back that a portable DVD player can hook up to and play on the front screen, while in park (only). Also, in the center console is the iPod connection. It's not LE exclusive. If you want to play DVD's while on the move, get the Entertainment package thingy and only the back seat people can watch while you drive. And that's great since no one needs distractions when they should be watching the road.

Honey, I don't do impulse buys! I am a smart and savvy shopper, and no amount of number crunching will convince me to buy something that I know very little about. Poll anyone on this forum and ask them if they would buy a $36000 vehicle the same day that they saw it for the FIRST time. I will bet that majority of people would not consider that a smart thing to do, stupid even, and those who would have an exorbitant amount of money to burn! Go poll the folks here... I dare you.

You sound like a salesperson who just wants to rope in any gullible, uninformed buyer into purchasing a vehicle based solely on gut and heart, rather than brain. Call me a dreamer, but I plan on making an informed decision, thank you very much.
  • beanrbeanr Member Posts: 6
I stand corrected. The iPod is LE exclusive. When test driving, I reached in the center console and felt the a plug and asked if that was iPod plug. The salesman in the back seat said, yes. Well it is a 12V plug. I'm rather disappointed I don't have an iPod connection. I'll bet the difference is Nissan did not run the wire for it as the radio systems with should be capable. Still learning as I read and look run out to the garage to play with all the gagets.
  • bostonchickbostonchick Member Posts: 1
Question: I just test drove a new SL on Monday and I asked the salesman about the iPod connection. It's integrated on the LE but I was curious what the scoop is on the SL. Can you plug it in directly? Where? Is it just an output device (like a speaker jack?) Do you know what the LE iPod connection is and how it's better? The salesman said that Nissan was coming in out a few months (hmm, wonder how long that will be) with some kind of after market device for connecting with iPods. Not sure what all of that meant. It seems odd to me that there is no way to get the LE iPod integration in other models.

    Hey beanr,

The Murano you purchased (SL FWD with Nav, et. al.) is what I am very interested in and am constantly comparing with the 08 Acura RDX. What was your OTD price, if you don't mind me asking? What state did you end up purchasing it in?

    Thanks!
  • beanrbeanr Member Posts: 6
    Hi Boston Chick,

There is no iPod connection on the SL. The LE connection is in the center console, where I thought mine was. It is a proper connection to an iPod and as you probably know allows the iPod to function via the screen. The only plug in the radio has is for a Compact Flash Card. I'll bet that since the radio is the same for the LE, Nissan did not run the wire and connector to the console. However, I don't think for this type vehicle you would want someone poking around the back of the radio looking for the plug in to run the wire. As for an after market device, I don't know. Could only speculate. Hope that helps.

    Hi Monkey Baron Jr.,

I got it in TX. They only came $1K off sticker, better than here and nicer people, but they gave me what I wanted for the trade. I also purchased the extended warranty (Plat) and got it at employee cost, at least that's what they said. Still, $400 less than asking. The wife has come home each night telling me that she is talking her way the voice recg. system with ease. This is amazing.. Also, the blue tooth for the phone, is clear and crisp reception on both ends. I have a friend that has a '05 Infiniti M35, his blue tooth reception, etc. is not good. Even after having the dealer change out some parts. I'm pleased with the purchase. When buying a car your going to get taken. The thing is to try and not get taken to much and be pleased with your deal/purchase. There is a dealer, Fitzgerald Auto Mall in PA that is selling '09 Murano's $300 - $500 over MSRP. It's just to far for me to drive.

I'm looking to get a Murano soon, but need to clear one thing up. I know the integrated iPod interface is only in the LE, but can an iPod be played through the auxilary audio input jack in the SL? The Murano brochure says the aux jack can be used to connect to any MP3 player. Does this include iPod? Has anybody done it? I know it's not as cool as the integrated connection, but does it work? Thanks for your help.

Nissan is recalling 16,365 2008 Infiniti EX35 and 2009 Nissan Murano vehicles to correct faulty software in the passenger airbag control unit.

"Due to incorrect software programming, the airbag control unit may cause the passenger airbag not to operate as designed if the vehicle battery becomes significantly discharged," said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in its summary of the problem. "This could result in the passenger airbag not inflating in a crash in which it was designed to do so, and increasing the risk of injury."

Nissan dealers will reprogram the faulty airbag control unit. The recall is expected to begin sometime this month. Owners of the affected vehicles can call Infiniti at (800) 662-6200 or Nissan at (800) 647-7261.

I bought the SL MURANO AWD 09 Great Crossover. The saleslady promised me there was a ipod connection and I beleived her. It was a saturday morning dearlership was very busy and after I purchased the Murano she said she would find out and call me . Two days later no call funny , she called me ten times a day before I bought the car. Well now she doesn't know where the ipod connection is if there is one. When I get the Nissan experience survey how should I fill this out? Can I demand the dealer to put a ipod connection in .I have 200miles on the Murano and it's awesome.

Your not going to find the ipod connection! You have to buy a LE to get it.
  • jmpage2jmpage2 Member Posts: 268
All 09 models are supposed to have an mp3 plugin jack which would just be the mini stereo jack that lets you plug in any mp3 player (iPod or otherwise). Information about this jack should be in the manual.

The LE has the real iPod interface with an actual iPod dock connector type plugin for your iPod with the artist/track information, etc, showing up on screen.

Don't think that is true. You have to get an LE to get the fancy system that allows control thru the touch-screen. There is an AUX either on the head unit or behind the console - read the manual.
  • stevecarnutstevecarnut Member Posts: 10
Thanks everyone on the ipod question. But which aux. input? The one in the back ofthe console box which faces the back seat? Because I don't have one in the dash. The saleslady said it would plug in and I would be able to control the ipod with the steering wheel controls and the the dash system. Now I find out she was wrong who is liable? Please advise me or feel free to tell me who you think is at blame?

There seems to be a lot of confusion about this iPod business.

Let me clarify that an iPod has TWO types of connections - Analog (headphones) and DIGITAL. Any 2009 Murano will allow you to connect your ANALOG headphones output to your sound system via the available AUX connector (in-dash on non-Bose models, rear of the center console on Bose-equipped models). If you have an AUX IN connector, you can connect ANY ANALOG device to your sound system. In the case of the iPod, you will have to deal with the fact that it is a Headphones plug, not a true Line-Out. Set the iPod volume to just below Half-Max to avoid distortion when controlling the volume through your sound system.

Only LE allows you to connect the iPod via its DIGITAL connector. This way you can control your iPod via the Audio system buttons, whatever they are, including Touch-Screen on NAV equipped model. You will see Artist Info, Track Info, etc... You will be able to control your iPod via your sound system control buttons, steering wheel mounted controls, and touch-screen (on NAV models only).

Otherwise, you will have to use the Jog Wheel on your iPod. Yes, you'll always get the AUDIO out of your iPod to the sound system, but not AUDIO CONTROL, unless you have an LE.

I can confirm that the LE Digital iPod interface works with iPod Classic Gen 6. The Manual only lists up to 5th Gen as compatible...And your iPod is being charged when connected to LE's digital interface.

I did some analysis on Rogue and some other Nissan models and they roughly have 15% package markup,

    Ahh mark up correction :surprise:

There is 7% mark up from invoice and 2% hold back.... Just speaking as a Nissan Sales rep.

If you try and get 15% mark up as a discount you will have a difficult time.

This does not include any rebates on any vehicles.Obviously there are no incentives on the 2009's Murano's... The Murano is so hot right now that it doesn't need any.

Sales people say things all the time that don't turn out to be correct. As far as who is "liable" I think you would have an awfully hard time suing a car dealership over a sales person being misinformed and giving you wrong information about one feature on a new car model that was just released.

If it's that big of a deal to you then you should call up the owner of the dealership, explain the situation and tell him you want a swap from your SL to an LE with no penalty for the miles you've put on the SL. You would still be expected to pay the $2000 price difference between the two models. There's simply no way that a dealership is going to eat those costs just to make you happy over a salesperson giving you some bad info.

Was wondering what everyone thought about the Tech Package and if its worth it. It includes...Bluetooth, Power Liftgate, Xenon headlights, Keyless Entry/Start, Rain Sensing Wipers, heated outside mirrors. I was leaning towards not wasting the extra $ on it but it will only add $1300 to the sale price for me according to quotes. The tech package msrp's for 1900 but for $1300 might be. Is it worth it?

Think about the only reason it isn't worth it is because you have neverhad them before. I guarantee once you find out how convienant the I-key, blue tooth, rain sensing wipers are you won't believe how you lived with them all this time. Not to mention how much more visibilty you will have the xenon lights.

As the nike commercial says "just do it" or just get it. I promise in a month after you get it you will be happy.

    Good luck!

Careful with that. I'm sure that will void the warranty and you'll be charge full price for repairs if any problems arise from that.

and there isn't enough profit just with hold back to justify a major loser deal. I see many pre-owned 2007 AWD Murano SL's with low teens for around $22,000. You'd be better off doing that, and the 6,000 in saving can pay for leather and such.

The original poster said they had a roof pkg. a $34... car I thought... Sometimes ya never know what people are buying or have been told. A lot of people still low ball.

I agree with your pricing on the 2007 used Muranos S. We have been selling them at $22,988 all day long.

Also your right they won't get the rebate and the low financing. It sounds like they got low balled. " Sorry but that rebate went away and your price is now $1500 more."

I understand the SL can have all the options added that the LE has available, except for the 20" wheels.

You left out heated rear seats, wood trim, power tele and tilt steering wheel, memory seating. :surprise:

Well I am a salesperson. Everything you just said about not thinking about something is fine. But with todays technology isn't it easy to do all your research. Find out what people are saying. Ahh once again do all your research. Narrow it down to what you want. Obviously doing your research you know what you are paying. The only thing holding you up is test driving the vehicles and seeing which one you like best. If when you are doing your research you decide on a vehicle and you don't want anything else besides that vehicle. If by chance whe you go to a dealer and they get the numbers where you want them... Why do you still need time to research? Heck take two years. The manufactures and the forums will still be here expressing there opinions.

Just looking for guilliable person to pay $1000 over sticker :confuse:

Thanks for your suggestions. However, I do not sue over Ipods. I thought it would be a good jester on behalf of the dealer to offer some type of compensation. Say free XM for the time I own the Murano . Something in those lines . Free oil changes , something that tells me they don't make stuff up to make a sale. If a person continues to give mis-information the dealer could end up with a sue-happy customer. But that is surely not the case here. And by the way the Murano ' 09 is way cool.

not sure where you live... but here in NYC... its 50 cents per 10 minutes for the parking meter... and if you're lucky...the spot is 5 blocks from your destination...if you're lucky!!! it takes me 5 minutes just to walk down one block... and don't bother asking for change in NYC... which means you'll have to carry at least a roll of quarters each time you go out... i rather pay extra for a coin holder...

plus how many times have you found the perfect meter spot... search your pockets just to find no quarters...
  • madmanmoomadmanmoo Member Posts: 2,039
I thought it would be a good jester

Hehehe, I had to laugh on that one. I'm sure you meant "gesture" and not "jester". Imagine a court jester running around making sure your needs were met.

At any rate, the dealership should do something. That is a big blunder. I remember losing sales over the lack of an Ipod connection. This is obviously a very important feature to customers. They should work with you.

I just got my 09 SL AWD this past wkend. The car is awesome. However, I look and the dealer looked all over for a coin holder... and found nothing.

Anyone have an idea or solution to put your coins in the car?

    Thanks.

I just bought my new 09 Murano last weekend (SL, FWD model),,,I bought a cable to plug into the auxillary jacks that allow me to play my Ipod,,,I got the cables at the Apple store, made by Monster, ICable. These jacks are for hooking your Ipod to a stereo. Now this simply allows you to hear your Ipod songs through the car stereo,,nothing comes up on the video screen for you to pick songs, etc. You have to do that on your Ipod. After you plug in your Ipod, hit the Aux button on the radio and you should be able to hear your I pod. Not as great as the Ipod hookup on the LE, but it works. :)

Nissan probably figures that everyone has an EZ pass for toll roads and lots of parking meters take credit cards now. My '99 Nissan doesn't have a coin holder. My '97 Subaru does, but it's usually empty (or rattling).

Maybe you could buy a roll of quarters and stash them in a cubby or glove box?

Just wondering if someone could post who the tire manufacturer is for the 20" tires on the LE. I searched, Tire Rack, Goodyear, and Yokohama and could not locate anyone who sells p235/55r/20.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
I can find a Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza at Tire Rack. Size is 255/55HR20 and it flops up in an '09 Murano LE search when I select a custom size.

But that's all that flops up. No idea who the OEM manufacturer is.

I'm here in Atlanta. I rarely use change except for the occasional parking meter and toll road run.

yes, bought my new 09 Murano last weekend. I went to the Apple store and bought a Monster ICable for hookup of Ipods to your Stereo. These cables will hook into the Auxillary jacks in the Murano. This will allow your ipod music to be heard through the car stereo (aux channel). You cannot however see the songs on the monitor or pick songs, etc. All that has to be done from your ipod. But at least you can hear the music...Hope that helps.

Here are the differences between SL AWD with Tech, Leather and Premium Package and LE. The price is just little over $2000:

    20" Wheel & P235/55R20 all-season tires
    Integrated Interface System for iPod
Memory system-driver's seats, steering wheel and outside mirrors
    Heated rear seats
    Wood-tone trim

so here is the question: Is it worth to pay extra $2000 for getting LE?
