    pblevine-

Thanks. I'm in So. CT by the shore. Sorry about the chip. I know how you feel. This car is so much better then the previous 99 Chrysler 300M. Granted, it's not as big and doesn't have all the goodies the 300 had, but it has NO defects and I'm not aggravated with numerous trips to the dealer like I had with Christine! I don't need 4 doors. Hardly anyone is ever in my backseat.

    killakella123-

I wet the applicator pad with water. Wring it out good and then spray some Z-6 on it and apply the Z2 in an X or || lines. I find the hardest thing about Zaino is seeing where you put it on. Like pblevine I follow a pattern and try to stick to it. I hate it when a neighbor comes by and distracts me. I lose my concentration! ;-))

    scottc8-

WELCOME to the "fanatical" Zaino group as the people in the NO ZAINO POST topic refer to us! LOL.... Wait until you see how EASY it is to keep the car looking that way. I know that some people think I spend 24/7 keeping my Acura looking the way it does in the pics above, but that's not true. I do wash it on a regular basis in the summer and go to a wand wash in the winter when it gets too dirty and apply the Z in the winter on a sunny day with above freezing temps, but that's it.

Any pics of this green beauty that you can post for us to see? YAHOO has a free picture hosting site. Borrow a friend's digital camera if you have to, but let us see! ;-)) If they have a SONY digital camera that uses regular floppy disks that would be the best. No wires or software to hook up to your computer. Take out the floppy, put it in your computer and upload the pics to YAHOO and you're done!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents, since you describe a situation I see everytime I use Z -- the first wipe of a newly "loaded" pad does go on a bit thicker than what is called for. What I try to do is make three quick swipes evenly spaced on my target area for that "load". Then I go back and try to evenly spread the three "thicker" swipes to cover the entire target area. But "thin" coat to me has been almost invisible on my silver car. And one spaghetti thin "x" on my pad covers about 2/3 of my hood on an E320. Drying time has always been about 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on temp and humidity.

Can't wait! Thanks! The darker colors look the best with the Zaino. That wet look shine really shows.

This is my first attempt at this, so I hope it works. I thought fellow Z enthusiasts (or cultists as some refer to us) might enjoy these pics of my 01 Solara. I am still learning about angles, settings, and light when taking pictues, but I am extremely happy with the way my car looks.

I look everywhere I go! I just can't find a decent 100% cotton towel. Help Please!

When I start applying the Z, I use the "thin spaghetti X". Usually what I do is put the Z2/5 on the applicator pad and kind of work it in so that the pad is covered. Then I apply the Z until I dont see anything going onto my car's surface. (You are right, if I were to apply that much it would cover quite a bit, like my entire roof or hood.) When I see that no Z2/5 is coming off the applicator pad, I dab on a little more. To give you an idea about how much I use, I have done about 5 layers of Z2 between two midsize cars and my bottle of Z2 is still 5/6 full. I mean I am barely putting Z2 on my applicator pad.

Most of my smearing is remedied by the Z6. I find I am going through that rather quick. My bottle is nearly half empty.

You say you don't see the Z when its dry on your car? My car is Dark Green and I see a haze when its dry. Do you think I should apply even less? I feel that if I apply less, I may not get a consistent layer.

Towels: Try Cannon or Fieldcrest. I think Fieldcrest even has a website (www.fieldcrest.com ?) from which you can order towels. They even run specials. I bought "factory seconds" at a lower price and found them "perfect" for my use.

White 100% cotton, made in USA towels are generally available at Wal-Mart and K-Mart. I caught a sale and got 4 bath towels for $9, and they're just great.

GREAT pics! Thanks for posting them. I think if you take them later in the day when the sun is setting, the reflections will be better. Keep them coming!

Thanks for the tip about taking pics later in the day. I will keep experimenting. I sent them to Sal, and he really liked them. That makes him happy and I love the look of my car inside and out. I am using the leather treatment from Zaino.

tonychrys - after my neighbor saw my Jewel Green LS400 with 3 coats of Z on, he is excited to put it on his black LS400. Going to stop by my dealer and see if the Z14 will help the small scratches and dull haze on my center console (wood with clearcoat/plastic coat).

hud116222 - "fellow Z enthusiasts (or cultists as some refer to us)", can we just be referred to as "Zainians"?

You do realize that Zaino products are NOT to be inhaled or taken internally. :)

On a side note, since Z-ing my silver Regal GS a few months ago, I've been wiping down my car daily using a 100% cotton towel. Contrary to what some have said, I see no scratches, marks or otherwise on the car's finish. Way back many posts ago, some people had concerns that I would be embedding/scratching the dust into the paint by wiping down the car with a cotton towel.

FWIW, in all types of light I see no scratches, marks, et al on the cars' finish. About every other wipe down, I then finish off by applying Z6. Damn! This stuff is good!

    Just thought I'd share.

The amount of Zaino Polish you are using sounds about right...actually sounds like you are putting it on thinner than I do...some people get as many as 20 applications from a bottle...at the rate you are going it sounds like you could get close to 30. I usually get around 10 to 15.

I also go through Z6 too fast. I now pretty much use it only right before applying a fresh coat of polish. I also try to wet the applicator with water(and wring it out well) instead of using Z6 unless I forget and am too lazy to go back in the house...then I will use Z6.
For Quick detailing, I have been experimenting. I used a 32 oz spray bottle, water, less than a capful of Z7, and a few spritzes of Z6 in the bottle. I also end up using lots of towels, but better than getting scratches. This is probably not an approved method but seems to work ok.

I have been told to use Z6 diluted 50:50 with distilled water for quick detailing and have done so, but I still go through it quite fast.

I had my first smearing experience yesterday. Full very hot sun, about 85 degrees, low humidity, middle of the day, it occurred only on the hood. I used a microfiber towel to remove any residue that was smearing.
Can't figure out why it happened but this is the first time I ever applied it in such high heat. Usually I apply it late in the day after work or weekends but I usually try not to do it in such high heat. I was sweating bullets and maybe some oily sweatballs got on the hood. I don't know for sure.

What a great shine on a nice car! (My SLE is Pearl White)

As mentioned by fastrdiver - Don't take pictures in the direct sun - contrary to instinct. The contrast between the bright and dark parts is too much for any camera to capture. Look at ANY car magazine ad - they are taken at dawn, usually. There are no hard shadows, and the contrast is much lower. You can also shoot when the the sun is not in direct view - as in the shade of a large tree or building, etc. This is called "open shade" and will produce the best pictures of cars, people, etc.

I'm just an old Zezer myself.

joebob: 'not sure the extra Z6 in your water / Z7 mixture does anything. It may..and then again it may not. 'Only say that because I tried it too without any notable difference. I carry a spray bottle of water/Z7 and a separate bottle of Z6. After using the water/Z7 mixture to rid (for example) the front bumper of bug residue, I'll also give it a slight Z6 treatment.

Zaino your teacher's dry-erase marker board. No ink will stick to the surface! Good for hours of good clean fun.

    My uses for Zaino:

    1. I use Zaino instead of shampoo. Just a shake in the morning and I look like Brad Pitt.

    2. I put Zaino on my cell phone to protect me from RF radiation. And my battery lasts for days!

    3. When I'm feeling irregular, I use Zaino instead of Pepto-Bismol. I can now digest everything including steel wool which used to constipate me.

    4. But the best use of Zaino...................
I now use Zaino instead of Viagara!!!

    Hot August night
    And the leaves hanging down
And the grass on the ground smelling sweet
    Move up the road
    To the outside of town
And the sound of that good car polish beat

    Sits a ragged tent
    Where there ain't no trees
    And that Zanio group
    Telling you and me

    It's Zanio
    Brother Sal's Traveling Zanio Show
    Pack up the babies
    Grab the old ladies
    Everyone goes
    Everyone knows
    Brother Sal's show

Take my 100 cotton towel in yours
    Z7 with me this day
    In my heart, I know
I will never stray from Zanio
Halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle, halle

    I just... by sp01 Jun 20, 2001 (03:23 pm)
    waxed my blower.

Lord, that doesn't sound good, does it?

Zainoed it. Claying the tube didn't take as long as I thought. Ran out of Dawn before the second wash, so I used some old Prell instead. Came out pretty nice.

    Every Sal clone knows one,
    Sal songs Ooooo!
    Every Hall thread grows one.

Funny thing, but you can rub until
    There's pain in your voice,
But then you have to clay some more,
    You simply got no choice...

HEY! Where are you going? Don't leave me in here all by myself! ;-))

BTW- Remember, a LONG time ago, there was talk about changing the name of this topic so that people would know what the he(( ZAINO was? Well, I went to Talk To The Hosts to inquire. One host made it seem like a MAJOR project, but PAT Host (formerlyPat123) is going to talk to Mr. Shiftright here to see about changing it to just Zaino polish! She and another host were going to do this with the old software, but decided to wait for this new TH. As a result of moving around to different topics, Pat never got around to it. Of course, this will probably start another battle with that OTHER group that seems to hope NO ONE ever finds this topic for whatever reason. IF they only knew what they were missing.

You are all very funny. It is an excellent product and you should all be using it. Every American should. It is made in the USA and there is no finer country in the world. Even our Government supports the use of Zaino. I have it on very good authority that all CIA vehicles are polished with Zaino. That's right: the Director of the agency that keeps America safe travels in a car polished with Zaino. THAT should tell you guys something.

If you mention that you resent being called a shill, zombie, cultist, or whatever on the other board, you are called "childish" and chided for attempting to start a flame war. Start a new topic specifically for Zaino bashing, and it's heartily endorsed by Edmunds. The children are playing. Too bad they never tried the products.

    Zaino cures cancer?

Spraying Zaino on crops can end world hunger?

Zaino contains Pheronomes? Spraying on yourself attracts members of the opposite sex?

I thought I read on this site that someone was selling cotton towels with the nylon edges already cut off and resewn with cotton thread. Does anyone remember the address of the guy selling these towels?

Also, I believe Sal recommends only 100% EGYPTIAN cotton. He discourages some of the discount store (Kmart-WalMart) towels because they come from Pakistan and Bangladesh. I've only been able to find the better cotton at high end department stores.

But the main thing is, I'd like to buy towels that have sewn COTTON edges to avoid the fraying that I get now. Any help would be appreciated.

Alright...was this a joke? The agency that keeps america safe? What does this have to do with zaino anyway? And besides...I thought all the CIAs vehicles have exploded in harrison ford movies and the like:)

"Spraying on yourself attracts members of the opposite sex?"

Yeah, but this could lead to problems later on in the evening. I'll leave it up to you to figure them out. :-)
