No I do not get oil changes and services. I actually purchased my van from Akron, OH. I paid $30,868.50 + my Virginia State and county taxes. I believe out the door for me would be about $31,000. I did add backup sensor to my vehicle. I hear from other websites (odyclub.com) that it is a good addition to add. In combination with camera, you have all your back covered. Sometimes, you can loose your judgement on distance with the camera; but with the sensor, you have a better judgement as to when to stop with beeps. It is annoying sometimes, but in the end, I don't want to back up into my kids. I know someone that has in the past.
Splash guards and Alloy wheel are not standard on any vehicels (as I am aware up). You think it would be on a $35,000 vehicle, but it is not.
If you can wait a few days and maybe a few weeks on shipping, you could save $1500 - 2000 by purchasing elsewhere eiher in Crystal Lake Honda in Illinois or Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron, OH. Both has been giving deals from $30,600 - $30,783 including $550 destination fees.
I hope this helps.

Appreciate your response and all the information. We had very good community here sharing good information. I did buy the car in VA today at $32,500 OTD. Thanks, vekat
I went to San Leandro Honda today...and after internet pricing and 2 hours...only got the EXL + RES + Nav...for $32,500 ( + Tax title and license). I negotiated for my 2004 Acura TL w/ A-spec package...for $27225 trade in...
The whole deal went south because they would not throw in a cargo liner .....
I think they are already making tons of profit at $32500+TTL....
Why can east coast dealers sell the same model for $32500 out the door, but here...it is $32500 plus another TTL of $3000 plus...? I know that the taxes are more expensive here...at 8.25 % , but why all the overcharges ?
can someone point me to a good honest dealer who will give a good deal in the SanFrancisco Bay Area ?
thanks...
give me a break
Having said that, you can get the cargo tray if you buy from either dealership in Ohio or Illinois and get the van shipped. I think, according to my calculations, buyting in Ohio would save you about $2000, but shipping would be about $1500. They would save you about $500, enough for the cargo tray and all season floor mats.
In addition, you might be able to get a better value for your car in the open market versus trade in value by going out of state to purchase your van.
Just my opinion. I hope this helps. Good luck on your van search.

Yes....but my only problem is that we are in California;...so it has more stringent SMOG control requirements . I do not know if we can import a car from another state.
I don't really want to hassle of trying to sell the car myself. It would be good for me just to get a fair price on the trade in, but a good price on purchase.
It does seem that Ohio has the best prices....and would save me $2000 , compared to west coast prices....
I was willing to pay the $32000, but again, the deal did not go thru cause of the cargo tray liner....
that is all...the salesman went back and forth...but the manager said he is "all in ". I was wondering...how can Ohio dealers make profit with $2000 less....but here they insist on $2000 more? OK...I accept that maybe it is the market forces...but if one is making $2000 more..why not throw in the cargo tray ? I am not asking for mudflaps, wheel locks, free oil changes, etc.....
Thanks for your input....
I would appreciate any other input from others....

Looking also for a good dealer in the Bay Area. Need ideas to pay less maybe in another state? Maybe a used 2005 Ody?
Also what kind of things to check when buying like loan rates, document fees?
ROD
Yes, we're blessed here in Ohio by extremely strong competition but there's no way the dealers still aren't making money!
Yes.. you guys are blessed in Ohio. Even below invoice the dealer makes money. We all know that. The problem is many John Doe' s out there still do not know, and are going down from MSRP....with the salesman telling them....""hey...we are starting to lose money...we already came down $1000 from the price...""
Are there anyone else who bought an Odyssey EXL with Nav and RES...around the SF Bay Area in northern California ?
thanks...

North Texas Honda Dealer.....Price Quoted....Compared to Invoice
Huggins, N Richland Hills.......32173 +TTL......+500
Frank Kent, Fort Worth...........31873 +TTL......+200
Freeman, Dallas.....................31673 +TLL......+0
Other dealers did give me prices and approaches that may appeal to other buyers. I did not want to or try to negotiate or understand the true value of add-ons.
None of these 3 dealers listed above had my color in stock. Its rather hard to come by. One of the 3 dealers has it due in from the factory in the next 30 days. I met with the internet sales guy at that dealer and I put a deposit down. No hassle, very easy. I would have dealt with any of the 3 based on my experience with them. I'll update after the deal is done.
I WILL DO $25,499 PLUS TAX,LICENSE,REGISTRATION AND TIRE FEE.
DESTINATION INCLUDED.
It sounds frivolous, but it is a major, major expense... Farmers (and other landowners) would stockpile old tires on unused acreage, thinking that some day they would be worth a lot of money for the petroleum that could be extracted from burning them...
Eventually, the government would sue them to clean up the mess (rodents, mosquitoes, etc), but when faced with the cost, they would abandon the property, burdening the government with the clean up costs...
Long answer to your question... but, there ya go..

:confuse:
PS - check ebay for new OEM parts for around half price, be sure to review seller's feedback.
I am happy for you. I'm glad that you were able to get a schedule delivery quickly. You will love the van once you drive it around. I love the feel of my van versus Toyota Sienna XLE. I'm sure my twins will love it once they are born.

I found them to be easier to deal with. I have not purchased it yet.
If you are not interested in RES and Nav , then according to San Leandro Honda, the Odyssey could be had for less than invoice...... Which sounds good, since they charge alot for the RES ($1599) and NAV ( $1999) .
I hear you can get a single screen RES for around $600 installed, and a very good aftermarket navigation system for only $600 also.
also did you have to make them beat some other dealers price
thanks
I'm in the South Michigan region and Toldeo is soo close. At what dealership did you get your minivan.
Enjoy the ride
$25,499 PLUS TAX,LICENSE,REGISTRATION AND TIRE FEE.
but they don't have the color I want (Ocean Mist Metallic). I was planning to but the Navigation system later from where it would be nice and cheap?
I would not try to install the NAV or RES as aftermarket accessory because you will probably void all electrical warranty on the van. You may not void the drivetrain warranty, but you will probably the internal electrical portion of it. Plus, if you buy from Honda and get extended warranty, it will be covered for 8 year/120K/$0 deductible. If there is an electrical problem, Honda would replace it for free or fix it for free. Aftermarket products warranty usually expire after 1 year. Yes you can buy aftermarket warranty, but it is not the same.
Lastly, it looks better with Honda installed navigation with voice activation features that can control up to 500 features of the van.
Also, some dealers sell only the warranty even if I have not purchased the VAN from them.
What is a good price for this warranty. Some where in the post I had read 8yrs/120K for $1,249.
Also, you can purchase the Honda Care warranty from any dealer.
Mike Puritt - Someone said that they purchased the warranty from Mike Purritt 8yr/120k $0 deductible for $1,230. Will Mike Puritts send me only the warranty. Has anyone done that.
So do you think is better to buy the extended warranty when you buy the Ody or wait before the 6,000 miles?
I am still loking for the Ody EX 2006 probably with Navigation.
Thank you
I think I just need the basic. Also I am looking for the Ocen Misc Metallic color.
I test drove the Ocean mist color EXL also....but San Leandro Honda would not go down from $800 above invoice.
Go to AutoWest Honda....I got a quote for the exact same EXL....for only $100 over invoice...but I did it over the internet email....We like the Ocean Mist color also.
I am also looking for the right one before I pull the trigger....
We will probably go there tomorrow....
I will ask for you the price of EX.
Thx
What exactly is covered by the electrical warranty? My wife and I are presently debating whether to look at the EX-L or EX-L and RES. Right now we're leaning towards the EX-L and installing the RES later.
What have been folks experience been with the RES system? Is Honda's system worth it or is an aftermarket system a better option?
that is without any negotiations....
You may be able to do better...
I have found a wide variety of aftermarket installers. On my suburban, the aftermarket installer was Stillen in Costa Mesa...and it cost over $30,000 to install a state of art RES.. with 5 screens, each row having individual controls, Dynamat sound proofing all around, etc.
However, we also have a great installer 'Audiomobile' in Oakland, CA, who did 3 screens ( including one hidden in glove compartment) , custom installation, and wireless headphones (2) , converter, etc....for the low price of only $1400....out the door... on the cayenne.
A single screen, integrated DVd player that mounts on ceiling of Odyssey, and integrated into the existing speaker system, should be less than $900.....
For comparison, Honda charges $1999 for the exact same system...
but this time, I am personally partial to going with the Honda system...since it would save me time and hassle.
I am the person who purchased the warranty for $1230. I think the miles has to be less than 6000 miles like someone else stated. I actually purchased the warranty after I bought the car. No hassle. He knew that I was an Edmund.com follower and was looking for the best deal. So before I even mentioned the $1249 that another dealership was offering, he went to supposedly his cost of $1230.
Mike Pruitt is an excellent dealer to work with. Highly recommended.
I hope this helps.
Will
Thanks for the information. Really appreciate it.
Did you buy the vehicle from Mike Pruitt’s. I have not purchased the vehicle from them. Will they still sell me the extended warranty for $1,230 ????
I did talk to them at the time of vehicle purchase but they quoted higher than a Chicago dealer and said they could not match.
I would like to buy Odyssey in VA. Could you please give the dealer's name in VA,from where you bought?
Thanks
Sharad
Has anyone else looked into this?
Thx
The drivetrain is already covered for 5 years by the factory.
Best advice is either buy Honda's plan or none.
I did buy from Mike Pruitt. They gave me the second lowest quote. The lowest quote was from Crystal Lake, but shipping was higher...so in the end, I did a few hundred dollars better than Crystal Lake Honda.
They should sell the warranty for the same price. When I met Finance Manager two weeks ago, I told him that I would be sending/referring a bunch of people to him if he can give the same price to them (Edmunds.com and Odyclub.com members). He smiled and seems pleased by it. I guess by selling volume warranties, he still makes a bonus.
If the Finance manager does not give you the $1230, then I'll call him again. Just make sure you mentioned that you are a member of this board and that you got a quote of $1249 from another dealer in Maryland.
I hope this help.

When I was shopping in early 2005, I went to Mike Pruitt because there had been some favorable posts here and elsewhere about his prices. For whatever reason, they simply were not competitive at that time as I got plenty of lower quotes around Ohio and ended up buying my Touring R&N at Hugh White here in Columbus.
It seems like Mike Pruitt pushes more cars at end of month or when he has a large inventory. When I was looking in late Jan/early Feb, he has 4 EXL RN and 4 Touring RN. That is almost $300,000 in inventory that has been on his lot for about a few months. So he moved them quickly discounting them in dramatic fashion.
Now, he has 0 highline Odyssey (EXL or above). Therefore, he tells me he charges $300 more to find a vehicle for the client, around $31,000, still below invoice (including destination).
I'm glad we all got exellent deals. This board has been very helpful in allowing me to find EXL RN for $30,743.

cccompson- Why should i be concerned? If I buy a 7year plan from Honda I am only really buying a 4 year plan that starts after the end of the 3 year standard correct? This plan is a 1200++ cost for only 4 years or 100K correct? With Geico I am paying 300 for 2 years so whats the better deal? 1200/4 = 300per year or 300/2 = 150per year ? Not to mention the savings of not having to pay a lumpsum up front?
Again can anyone provide a valid example of why Geico's plan is not better?
Thanks
Nor would I recommend Honda's plan - unless you have an R&N model (the parts price alone for the in-dash navigation unit is $4800).
Really, though, this discussion might be better placed in one of the extended warranty threads.
And as a new honda owner I am talking to all Odyssey owners. If it doesn't concern you don't reply.
I see both sides' points. I use Geico insurance to insure all my vehicles...so I do trust them. I bought extended warranties on the Cayenne and Acura TL. With that said, we were considering not buying any for the EXL...because in general, extended warranties are not recommended by Consumer Reports.
Geico's may or may not be worth it, depending on what you think may or may not go wrong with your vehicle. A $250 deductible may seem low...if your vehicle does not have many problems . But if it has more than 5 problems( regardless of cost), then your out of pocket costs would have exceeded the no deductible extended warranty offered by Honda. This also does not take into consideration the true nature of insurance companies, whose real job is to make money, not to insure all the losses...even though that is what they claim they will do. If you have an item that goes wrong, the 3rd party insurers would frequently (not always) either deny the claim, or delay it. There are statistics from actuaries that show that if they deny 100 valid claims, a good percentage of claimants would drop the claims and pay out of their own pocket, rather than try to fight the big insurance companies...whose endless voicemails, referrals, delay tactics, etc...are frustrating....NO MATTER what they promise you initially. THis is only my own point of view, and does not reflect negatively on GEICO.
With that said...I purchased a 8 year/120K miles/ 0 ded warranty from HONDA, because I have the Nav and RES, but also because the Variable cylinder management system may break down, necessitating a new engine....!!
IF your engine breaks down, I doubt any third party insurer would just pay to fix it.../They would probably ask you to fax all copies of your maintenance records, all evidence of the problem...and still try to say the fault lay in your inproper usage or maintenance ??!! May be , and maybe not. :confuse:
That is not to say Honda would not do the same.
