I've gotten quotes from many ... look for my posts for the cheapest I received. Or I can try to go back to find my spreadsheet if you want.

I just bought an EX-L at Burnsville Honda in Burnsville MN for 28044+Tax,Ti, Lic

I put out 10 internet requests last night to the 5 Twin Cities dealers plus Kadlec in Rochester, Motor Inn in Albert Lea, Motorwerks in LaCrosse, Zimbrick in Madison, and Crystal Lake in IL. The last 3 were because I was going past each of them next Friday and figured there was minimal added cost to buying from them because I was going to be there anyway. I got the quote of 28044 from Zimbrick incl wheel locks and splash guards. I'm still waiting for the rest. I decided to go for it with the one quote. Walked in, told the dealer I test drove with on Saturday the story about what I'd been doing and why a Madison offer made sense for me. A trade in complicated the deal some, but they committed to the Zimbrick price before mention of the trade and threw in floor mats.

2 hours later I was out the door. If you do your homework, have a little luck, and come prepared a good deal can be had in the cities.

I just purchased a Hond aOdyssey EX from Ft Worth for $25000 + TTL. I had them price match a quote from dealer in Shreveport
thanks for everyone for the help on forum

Did not try too many other dealers in the metro area. I mainly worked the Ohio areas and Chicago. The ones I did contact, just said we can't even get close or buy it, when ever I sent a competitive quote.

Nothing special at LaFontaine, just the lowest, closest price. Could have haggled lower at more distant locations but there's a cost to that.

Got a lectures in economics at a few dealers from the GM/boss after showing me the "invoice price" and how we can't sell for less. Victory Honda in Monroe, MI said I was thousands under what they could sell the van for! There are more dealers in the northern part of the city, but I'm Downriver.

Never looked at anything higher than the EX, don't care for like leather and did not want the extra cost.

    good luck

I purchased my EX-L with Navi and RES on Friday night. I paid $32,800 including all taxes and fees. I live in Southern California and sales tax is 7.75%. I got several quotes online and was able to get the dealers to keep beating each other. I traded in my 03 Odyssey for the 06. The 03 was good and the 06 is great.

That's about $500 cheaper than I've been quoted here. Haven't gotten into any barganing yet, so hopefully I'll be able to get closer to that when the time comes.

    ciltho,
Sorry, I have been busy with fantasy baseball team. Anyway, Hendrick Honda is in Woodbridge VA. Just south of DC off of 95. Google them, and you can get the web site, and call or email the internet department. Hope this helps.

    Sir,
No, my credit union had better rate, Honda could not touch. Already sold my car outright. Bought the extended warranty from Bernardi in MA, as they had best price. Van came with mug guards, pin striping, and door and wheel guards. We added fog lights and plus one console. Ordered all weather floor mats off the internet, as they were cheaper. Hope this helps, sorry it took me awhile to get back to you.

Incredible deal at Ed Napleton Honda, Oak Lawn, IL. New 2006 Touring with RES, No Navi, $31,695 + destination charge. I was prepared to offer TVM price, thank goodness I sent for quotes and I was shocked by their offer. Apparently Honad is offering dealers hold back money. Don't overpay out there!
  • dartanyandartanyan Member Posts: 10
    Just to make sure....
Are you saying that $32,800 is the OTD price, including taxes and fees, not excluding them?
That's about $1500 less than invoice.
Please confirm me one more time.
I will emaili them right now.
what did you get for your 2003 odyssey?
I have been watching this forum for a long time.
That was the best deal I have seen so far!
and isn't the sales tax 8.25% in CA?
    How did you get 7.75%?
    Thanks in advance!

I was quoted $28800 (includes the destination charge) for 2006 EX L RES (DVD) (Ex Leather with Rear Entertainment System) in Chicago area. Anyone thinks I can get a better deal? If so I appreciate knowing the details.

Will be picking up my 2006 EXL Res in Philadelphia. 28,699 with destination included. I basically went back and forth with dealers in the area. I'm excited. Hope everything goes well. I think they have a factory-dealer incentive because too many people are getting good deals on this message board. Does anyone know if it is better to wait until August when they really need to get 06 off the lot?

I guess I need to road trip to get ours, in Denver the best price I've received so far for the EXL RES is $30245 :(
  • luckydog6luckydog6 Member Posts: 5
fxshenate: wow, what dealers did you work with to find $28,699 on a EX-L RES in Philadelphia? In the market myself and haven't found anything close to this in Philly. Please share.
  • eyedoc_00eyedoc_00 Member Posts: 14
    dartanyan,

yes $32,800 was the OTD price. I had 2 dealers beating each other on price. I got the $32,800 from Riverside honda. I went down to them and started working on the paper work and they did not have the car. It was going to take 2 weeks for them to get the car. I called spreen honda and asked the internet sales dept. if they would match it. They wanted to have the $32,800 in writing, which I did. Great experience with them. I was able to get $18,000 for my 2003 Odyssey. That was the best price I could get. It was the EX-L with navi and an after market dvd system. Sales tax in Riverside County is 7.75%. Any other questions please ask!

Piazza Philadelphia. Nice dealership..willing to pa my vehicle off in full and everything. Where have you looked thus far?
  • luckydog6luckydog6 Member Posts: 5
Thanks so much for getting back to me.

Very interesting. Piazza quoted a EX-L RES @ $31,096--and this was less than 2 weeks ago. Absolutely amazing that this is $2,400 higher than your deal. Sent quote requests to other dealers, but the ones I've been talking to are Piazza, Scott in West Chester, Faulkner in Harrisburg, and Mike Pruitt in Akron OH. Best offers to-date are from Faulkner and Mike Pruitt @ $29,500. Best quote for RES w/ NAV is $31,500 from the same dealerships.

Other dealerships come close to the offer from Piazza? Would appresciate it if you'd let me know. Will work on these guys a little harder knowing they have more room to negotiate. Thanks again.

Ok I need a new van. I see Odyssey is the best on the market. Now I need to know what van is best and what I should expect to pay. I am in NW Indiana. How long does it take to get something in writing and where can you go to get quotes?

Don't know what the deal is but out here in the Seattle area dealers aren't coming close to the prices out east or in CA. I just bought an EX-L for $28,758 +TTL and I had to fight for that. Just about every offer started at $1,500 over invoice (plus destination fee which no one would negotiate) and some were higher. Forget the RES/NAVI models, they wouldn't deal on those at all.

    yes OTD includes tax.
  • huskyfan2huskyfan2 Member Posts: 11
So your only other charges were Tax, title and license? Did the $28800 include a doc fee?

I got a dealer down to $29000 (including dest and doc fee) for a 2006 EX-L RES. Sounds similar to your deal.
  • huskyfan2huskyfan2 Member Posts: 11
Quoted $29,000 for 2006 EX-L RES in Charlotte, NC. This includes doc fee and destination charge. Does not include tax, title, license. No trade.

Dealer quoted this fairly quickly so I think he may even go lower. Is this a good price?

The Price Paid: $25,700 + TT&L. Price included dealer-installed options (cargo tray, wheel locks, mudguards) with invoice cost of approx $300, making total invoice cost approx $26,401.

The Experience: I initially received price quotes from nine dealers via email, all tightly banded between $25,851 to $26,401. Three of the dealers' sales guys played "hide the weenie" regarding the destination charge of $550. They didn't get my business.

My initial dealer of choice lost my business by fumbling the hand-off from their Internet sales guy to the salesman assigned to work through the offer in writing. No matter how efficient and effective the whole Internet price-shopping experience can be, the process still leaves you open to the same old sales tactics once you're in the dealer's sales office.

My take: the Internet has really narrowed the price range between dealers. In the end, I bought from the salesman I personally liked and trusted, and treated me the best. I probably didn't get the lowest deal ever (I maybe should have bought at the end of March), but I got the deal I was happiest with.

Thanks to all on this forum.

Go through the Internet Department at TEAM HONDA in Michigan City, IN. Invoice+DEST+$325= your price, and whatever else you can get them to throw in at that price.

i.e. my price on my '06 Odyssey EX-L Res/Nav $31,998 Dealt completely with Internet Sales.

I have another question about the Odyssey in general. How well do they pull? Can you get a towing option? Is there just 1 length in them ie: extended version?
I was not planning on buying a new van for another year so right now I am on overload.

What is the price I should be paying for 2006 EX in Baltimore/Washington region ? I've received several quotes from the area dealerships and the lowest one is $27,200 on the road. He claims, they are losing money on this but why would they sell if they are losing money. What is the incentive for them ?
What about Extended Warranty ? How much it would cost.

Anyone else has any experience in this region or they would like to recommend a dealership ? Ourisman of Laurel and Bowie Honda are the closest geographically.

    Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what rate Honda Finance is offering for a 60 month term? I have excellent credit (793 at last check). I went to the website, but they are only advertising special rates. Are the rates negotiable?

I'm not sure if I should finance through Honda or an outside source

    "

Hmmm....Yes, only one length. 118" Wheelbase, 201" Length, 77" width.

There is a towing option that is dealer installed. 2000lbs Standard Towing, 3500lbs towing with towing package.

As for how does it tow? Dunno, I've got a '03 Ford F350 CrewCab KingRanch Powerstroke Diesel to do all my towing/hauling. And it does GREAT. ;)

Mowa: We did better in North Jersey - Paramus, to be exact. See post 12173 above. Lots of dealers eager to move inventory. A bit closer to you, Open Road Honda and Clinton Honda seem to be quite aggressive. Feel free to e-mail me for more details.
  • ceebeeceebee Member Posts: 9
Yup..You are correct. Here in the NW it seems a difficult to negotiate. Let me know if you experience the humming sound. I would like to compare some notes.

    Thanks.

Paid $29,490 approx on-road price (which includes 6% tax, doc fee $499) for EX-L at "Honda Mall of Georgia" in the last week of March '06
  • thebergs1370thebergs1370 Member Posts: 4
Ok how did you get that price? Was that with a trade in? I asked about getting a deal like that and he said he would shake my hand and tell me good luck! :surprise:
  • myodyssey1myodyssey1 Member Posts: 10
I finally bought the Odyssey 2006 EX with no dealer options in Baltimore/Washington Area. Just as is from the factory with 3 miles on it. Even no test drives. Below is the breakdown:

    Date Purchased: April 10, 2006
    Sale Price $24,889.57
    Dest. Charge $550.00
    Processing Fee $49.00
    Sub Total: $25,488.57
    Sales Tax (5%) $1,274.43
    Title/Tags $227.00
    Total Paid(OTD) $26,990.00

Buying Experience: I requested quotes from all local dealers, some gave me very good quotes right the first time and followed up with calls. Some tried to find out what others are quoting so they can match. They gave me their old Dealer Walk-in stories. This particular dealer gave me this price the very first day and when everyone else was trailing behind and trying to negotiate. I finally, gave him the business because he gave me his honest quote and tried to compete without haggling over price. I did not get any dealer appearance package but I did not care about that. Pretty much every one was willing to match the price for any one else, so the competition was very good and healthy for buyers.

It seems that dealers may be getting some factory Incentive because my sales receipt has a "/GAP" printed in the line for factory incentives. So watch out ! Not sure what this code means though.

Hope I have made a good deal. Please share your experience. So far I am satisfied with my purchase but it's just one night yet :)

By the way, initially I was in the market for Sienna but once I drove the Odyssey, decision was pretty easy. I will be updating my views in the comparison forum.

This forum has been very helpful and you all make the forum. So THANK YOU !

"Ok how did you get that price? Was that with a trade in? I asked about getting a deal like that and he said he would shake my hand and tell me good luck! "

Bear in mind, my price was on a EX-L R&N, not a touring.

    $31,673 + $325 = $31,998

    For Touring it would be...

    $33,471 + $325 = $33,796

    Touring R&N would be...

    $35,448 + $325 = $35,773

Yes, I had a trade, but I negotiated the price on the Odyssey before I ever brought up the trade, then I also had in mind the lowest possible $$$ amount I would accept for my trade according to NADA, KBB and average retail asking price of local like vehicles (~75 miles) compiled through autotrader. Obviously the average retail price is not what you are going to get in trade, but it is a good indicator as to what the market will bear and what you can expect the dealership to be asking for your trade when they go to sell it. I just made sure they would have bargining room and and profit room when they went to sell it.
  • apaekapaek Member Posts: 2
That seems like a good price. Was it thru internet sales? What was the actual price of car before tax, doc fee, freight fee? Any accessories? Did you have to do any negotiation? The best price I have seen in atlanta area is $30,400 which includes 7% tax, and everything. thanks in advance.

I live in TN and am shopping for an 06 EXL-RES. I have 23 quotes from dealers up and down the east coast. I am still waiting on a couple more. I have narrowed it down to a few and the ones in the running are Crystal Lake in IL, Hendrick in Charlotte, Hennessee in Woodstock, GA, and Hugh White in Columbus OH. These prices are well below invoice. It appears that Honda is offering extra money to dealers this month. I have been buying Hondas (lots of them) for more than 10 years and I have never seen this kind of pricing. But hats off to Honda, this pricing philosophy lets them discount the vehicles without the rebates that kill resale values. My local dealers have said they will beat these other prices, but I don't think I will give them the chance. Once finalized, I will post the best prices. Shop around - there are good deals out there!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Glad to hear that Hugh White in Columbus is on your list - bought my Touring R&N there (as well as some other Hondas) and always got a great deal.

I am about to purchase an EX-L. So far, I have received 14 offers from local dealers. I live in Chicago area. I am wondering if anyone in this forum was able to buy EX-L even cheaper at the dealer shop than the lowest offer via email from the same dealer.

I think there may be still a room (at least $100) to negotiate the price when you walk in the dealer shop with the printed offer.

    thanks.

It depends on what color of the touring ody you are looking for, if they you want and is sitting on their lot you might get a good deal. I started my researched about 7 days ago, and bought the car Touring ody I wanted (black ext/black L-interior, Navi+DVDres). I ask for diff. quotes the best one is Spreen Honda@ Loma Linda (so.cal) @ $35,441 (true invoice price incl. dest.) but they don't have the one I wanted. However, Buena Park Honda (so.cal)was willing to work with me and to look for a black ODY i wanted I can even negotiate the price, Sweet! They called me Sunday (4/9/06) they said they have the car I wanted (I found they made a deal with Corona Honda called "trade-in", Lingo by dealerships).

I did a physical inspection (passed) skipped on the test drive (test drove touring on 3 occasions), Odometer reads 30 miles (they drove the ody from Corona to deliver, which is about 20 miles away) I'm fine with this.

I offered $36,441 (incl. dest.) but they disclosed to me the dealer addons on the car (wheel lock, cargo tray, mud guard, door strip guard) for $440. My sales man and his partner really did their job professionally, I usually don't want the add ons and let them know about it, but the scenario is different. So, I have the price in writing @ $36,881+TTL,fees. Total Cost $40,222.

I traded in my 04 Prius, Silver with Option#9 (navi and the works), Odo reads @ 39,380 in good condition. I was direct with them that researched my trade really well and I know for sure I won't be upside down. In the middle of my transaction/negotiation, they mentioned I am Negative Equity on my trade they avoided the word upside down by @1,000. I told them I owed $20,779 they appraised it for a $1,000 less. I said no way, I told to call a Toyota Dealer and ask for a "Buy-Bid" figures. A few moments later they valued my trade in @ $20,800 and apologized that their appraisal guy forgot to do the "buy-bid".

Now, I have the Ody I wanted for the price that I am willing to pay for and I protected my trade in value for my prius. Also, during the course of my research on the 06 ODY, Touring Black ext.on Black int. is hard to find, but if you can patiently wait the dealer can order it for you.
