    Car Man,

I'm just wondering if prices on cars vary by region. For instance, I'm in the NE, specifically NJ. Would a best price here be much higher than prices elsewhere?

I am looking to purchase the same vehicle in Jersey, and have gotten the same two quotes. From the responses I have gotten from other dealers, it appears no one is going to beat the DCH Academy price. If you do better, please post the details. Don't forget the dealer incentive and 2.9/4.9% financing ends 7/1/07.

    kidlkcf,

I am wondering the same thing. I am in NE as well (Omaha)and have gotten bids from Lincoln ($29,995 including destination, did not counter my offer--they said we were too far apart) and Des Moines ($29,900 + fees, this is their second offer--they came down by $200).

From reading this board, it seems people are getting EX-Ls for about $1500 below invoice. The dealers around here are not moving much, however.

I have not gotten any bids from the Omaha dealers yet.

I just bought a new Honda Odyssey EX L with NAV and RES for $33200 OTD in Fairfield Honda. The experience was really great dealing with the Internet Manager (Brian Holt). He was a pleasure to work with and he delivered what he promised. I would really recommend you to email him to get a quote for your odyssey or any new Honda car.

I've been offered a base + destination price of $26,335. With taxes and fees, the OTD price is just over $28,000. This is after shopping around at 5 different dealers. I'm getting frustrated because the OTD deals I've seen on this forum seem to be in the low $27k range. I've had 2 places tell me that any number even starting with 27 is impossible. What am I doing wrong? I am shopping both in and out of the city (Indianapolis). Am I banging my head on a brick wall? Should I take the $28k offer?

    Opinions appreciated!

"I am trying to buy an EX model. Best quote so far is 24700 excluding tax. Can I do better? thanks"

If $24,700 includes Destination and all fees – you have the best deal posted to date.

About $25,00 including destination is the best deal I have seen. (w/ no dealer “prep fees”, (w/ no dealer “prep fees” or “dealer installed options” etc)

Have the dealer give you a detailed OTD price. Back taxes out, T&L are in the $200 range (at least in Texas, YMMV) and if it is still $24,700 take it fast!"
    -------------
Definitely agree with rickindallas about getting a detailed OTD price and checking what the $24,700 covers. We have found this forum to be very helpful.

I posted my purchase details last week after buying an EX cloth for $27154.55 OTD from Riverside Honda. Their price was $24,844 for the EX-all the other stuff was fees and high CA taxes! But they did email me the out the door price so we didn't have any unpleasant surprises when we went to buy and it was a good experience.

It seems that prices are dropping slightly as another poster, Fantic, had bought up in Palo Alto for $27,278 which is a great OTD price, during Memorial Day. I think our sales tax rate was a bit lower than Fantics, so we were able to have a slightly lower OTD and we were ready to buy and happy to get that price! Maybe the deals will be even better for end of June or July 4 sales.

I have learned that the best deal you will normal get is if you email the dealership internet manager and ask for a quote. Once you see what they are quoting you then you email them back what you are willing to pay. When I bought my odyssey ex l nav and dvd, my best quote was $31,300 plus tax and license from the internet manager. I received about 5 quotes. I then emailed them back that I was willing to pay $30,700 plus tax and license. At the end, I had a internet manager willing to go as low as $30,480 plus tax and license. Also the end of the month is coming , there should be a dealership that will need to meet their goal. Good luck...Ron

Which model are you looking for? Have you tried emailing the internet depts of the LA/OC dealers?

Thank you very much. I'm helping a friend get the EXL with RES and NAV. I bought a 2006 exL last fall with much help from this same forum.

You got a great price and your posting helps others (such as my friend) also save a little bit. Thanks again.

I have multiple quotes of 26k for an '07 Odyssey EX (including splash guards). Not having much luck in getting them to lower the price. Seeing other posts in the forum with quotes of 24700, etc. makes me feel I shouldnt give up yet. Any tips on what I can do to drop it down further.. or is this it?

    Thanks in advance.

After months of research and quote gathering (in the Houston , Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio markets) between the Ody and Sienna, we finally purchased our 2007 Odyssey EXL (under invoice price) from Russell & Smith yesterday. Our internet sales manager was prompt, courteous and gave us exactly what we asked for and did not tried to sell us anything extra. Email me at pnl22@yahoo.com if you would like to contact this person.

Since we were selecting between consumer report #1 and #2, we felt good about our purchase. After having two dealerships (Toyota Champion Gulfway and McDavid Honda)recanting their offers when we show up to purchase, it was refreshing to show up at a dealership in which a professional with papers already prep and waiting on you! We signed the deal and drove the van home STRESS - FREE!

Thanks to everyone in the forum for sharing their experiences (good and bad) and to those who have emailed us with advices and warnings in the past months!

Thank goodess we won't have to do this again for a while!

    Karen,

I am shopping for the same thing and have been shooting for a similar price. The best offer I have gotten is $29,900 + fees. How did you get this price? Where is your dealer located? Did you have a trade? I am in Omaha and I am having a hard time getting them to move much. Thanks so much.

This forum has been very imformative. We are in Virgina and we are getting the following, Odyssey EL-L with RES, for $30,391 OTD. Anyone have any thoughts or advice? Should I try to go lower I have received other quotes, but there is not much variance in price. I also wish to stay in the area.

    Peace and blessings,

I am looking for the same thing(except I would like a dvd player) in the Austin area. What did you end up paying for your van? Thanks!

    Hi Karen,

I am in the market for an odyssey EX-L (no navigation / no DVD)and am hoping to buy something in the next 2-3 days thinking I will get the best deal.

Your OTD of $28,000 (including splash guards) seems to be an unbelievable deal. Happy that you were able to get it.
    - Consumer reports I looked at indicate that the dealer cost for this vehicle is likely to be $26,915. If that is accurate, with TTL and other fees, they must have lost money on this vehicle.
    - Where are you located? (tax-free state - by any chance??)

Would it be possible for you to give a break-up of your pricing like:
    - Base Price
    - Tax
    - Title and License
    - Splash Guard (which is not a standard feature)
    - Other Fees (including doc fee, etc..)
This will really help me compare apples to apples....

The best I have received so far is:
    Base Price - 27,850
With tax anfd fee - OTD is close to $30,000

    Any specific negotiating tips...

    Thanks

I am also in the Dallas/Plano area looking for an odyssey. Which dealership worked best for you?

How much did you pay for your EX-L with RES?

    Thanks

I am in Indiana and getting the same number 26000 for an ex
I want to buy today, but I need to make sure it is a good deal

    gebbie,

I have been shopping for an EXL-RES. I got the Consumer Reports Price Service for the Odyssey. For an EX it lists $24,830 as the "place to start negotiating" . To get this figure they subtracted dealer incentives and holdback from the invoice price. I hope this helps.

I would like to purchase in North Central FL by 6/30/07. (Gainesville, Ocala, Lake City, Jacksonville) Can anyone recommend a dealer?
Should I be able to get under invoice price? Today by phone our local dealer quoted me invoice price (I think) and 2.9% or 4.9% interest and implied this was such a great deal.
    Thanks for any tips!

    Vette00,
Wow. Can you break down your numbers more, i.e. what was your price before fees & taxes (i.e. sale price including destination)? What is your location? Who was your dealer (you can post dealer name, just not salesperson name)?

    Thanks.
  • jetzzsjetzzs Member Posts: 64
    bayern507,

gebbie was shopping for an EX and that was the price for an EX. I will see if I can change the post.

The "bottom line price" for the EXL-RES is $28,305, according to Consumer Reports. I sent an email to several dealerships offering $28,250, but they don't seem to want to go below invoice so far.

    Marsha,
Thanks so much for your reply. I was a bit confused, and that straightens that up.

I'm looking for an EX-L (no res). Do your bottom lines include destination?

    Thanks again.
  • jetzzsjetzzs Member Posts: 64
    bayern507,

Yes, they do include destination. The breakdown for an EXL is as follows:

    Invoice $28,003
    + Destination 595
    = Total dealer invoice 28,598

    Total dealer invoice 28,598
    - Dealer incentive thru 7/5 of 750
    - Dealer Holdback 933
    = Bottom line price 26,915
  • bayern507bayern507 Member Posts: 13
    Marsha,
    Thanks again for the info!

One thing on your search, the invoices on the EXL I've been seeing list the price at $28,158.50 ($155 more than what you listed). I think there was a price increase in January that might not be reflected in that CR report. So, going $50 below what CR reports as bottom line may actually be $200 below a current bottom line, which may be too hard to swallow. You may have better luck a little higher (say $250 more). Good luck!

Could anyone suggest me a dealer who can offer good deals o Honda Odyssey in Detroit,MI area? They are asking for $33089 Plus Taxes, plate etc. Is this a good deal? By going through the post, it seems the dealers are quoting a lot. Am i correct?

Would you mind sharing the dealership name with us? I'm looking to purchase the same vehicle in that region. Thanks!

    bayern507,

That is a good point. I have also heard--from the message boards for other models--that the holdback went from 3% to 2%. I wonder if they are making up for it in a different way.
  • bayern507bayern507 Member Posts: 13
I have also heard--from the message boards for other models--that the holdback went from 3% to 2%.

I just talked some numbers with a salesperson, and the invoice number I had was correct (and higher than the CR). Also, the holdback is still 3%, but 3% on the invoice and not the MSRP. There's a big gap on MSRP to invoice on these, so I'd add that in also (probably another $120 or so).
  • jetzzsjetzzs Member Posts: 64
Thanks for the info. I was wondering what number they used to figure holdback. I couldn't get the CR numbers to work out. It does make at almost $150 difference compared to the CR holdback value.

What kind of offers are you getting for an EXL?
  • nosajnosaj Member Posts: 2
I'm shopping for a EX-L. I plan to buy it this weekend right at the end of the month. I've contacted 10 dealers. The best price I have so far is $28,003 plus $350 dealer charges. I think $28,003 is invoice.

Anyone else shopping in Connecticut? What's your experience?
  • bayern507bayern507 Member Posts: 13
Best price right now in my area (Twin Cities) is $27600, though Chicago is about $600-700 cheaper.

in the hunt for EX-L RES..the lowest I quote I have so far is $29,100+ from a dealer in MA. don't think that includes destination charges.

    1) Anyone got any suggestions for a better price ?
    2) Also, what should be the price for a extended warranty ? Is that negotiable at all ?
    3) For additional accessories..is that a fixed price OR does that vary by dealer ?

    - Sam
  • jetzzsjetzzs Member Posts: 64
    Sam,

I am not an expert but from the message boards I have come under the impression that the extended warranty price maybe negotiable and one message mentioned they got one over the internet (not sure where) at a good discount over the dealer.

As for the accessories, I have heard this varies a lot but that the Honda MSRP prices are listed on the website. I would assume they would be negotiable just as the car price is. Anyway, I would not pay more than what is listed on the Honda website.

Edmunds shows values for option packages along with a TMV price for each package. The TMV price for the packages seemed to be about 75% of the MSRP.

    Good luck!

Thanks to this forum, I ended up getting an Ody for a very good price ($29300 drive out). This was at McDavid Honda in Houston and the entire process was stress free.

    - Is the so-called "protection package" (paint/fabric protection and undercoating) really worth buying at all? (considering the rainy northwest weather in my case). I've been trying to research details on what exactly is covered/excluded and what others are doing but havent gotten much.

    - After some haggling, I got a quote of $400 for the above protection pkg from one of the dealerships I'm negotiating with. Is that a good price?
