I bought mine to at end of nov and paid $27.5k in NY and actually thought that was a great deal since they were offering $2500 rebate and they split the hold back with me.

Can you please give me the dealer Name?

    Here is the quote

Make: 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L with Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System
    MSRP: $33,290
    Our Price: $27,569
    State Dealer Fee: $250.00
State Title Fee: $25.50 (if you write a check for vehicle, it’s only $15.50)
    Sales Tax: $1,808.24

My best quote so far is for $26,200 sale price on a 2007 EX-L w RES. I like the idea of a backup camera and ipod adaptor on the 08 model.

    What do you guys think?
  • odyssey7odyssey7 Member Posts: 21
Is this price is really for 2008 or 2007
  • wisngamecockwisngamecock Member Posts: 52
I heard today that last 1/2 of Dec. Honda will up the ante on 2007 Odyssey's to include low interest financing on top of 2500 marketing incentive. Has anyone else heard this?
  • airbumairbum Member Posts: 12
I just cut and pasted the quote, Seems so low but then I thought the 07 price was good. I'm sending a reply email and if it really is an 08 I plan on buying it. Was curious what others where being quoted on 08 EX-L wRES.

I like the idea of a ipod and backup camera.

    Hi,

Having had the second kid over the weekend, it is time to switch from my beloved 2005 Accord LX to a Ody soon. We live in Chicago. Has anyone had any experiences and some quotes / purchases for either an LX or EX recently? How do you think the prices and availability will be near X-Mas?

    Thank you.
  • beebowbeebow Member Posts: 12
If that is an 08' price and they sell it to you buy a couple of them to resale. Let us know what they say when you go in to make a deal. I had a dealer low ball me on an 08' then say that they made a mistake on the invoice pricing when we went to make a purchase.

You can usually get the nav and entertainment system much cheaper by having aftermarket equipment installed instead of the factory options. I've bought a few cars with the factory options and a few where I had aftermarket stuff installed, so my thoughts are based on real experience with a Corvette, Toyota Avalon and a 2007 Odyssey.

I'll take the factory options over the aftermarket any day, even if it costs more. In today's pricing environment, it isn't much more expensive to go with comparable equipment from the factory as opposed to buying aftermarket stuff. I cannot emphasize the convenience of fully integrated factory equipment compared to even the best aftermarket equipment installed. I've made at least 10 trips to a shop to have my Avalon's aftermarket entertainment system working correctly, along with my backup camera and Ipod adaptor. They all work fine now, but after many hours of installation and fixing problems after installation. I paid about $3,000 for top-of-the line aftermarket equipment (dual RES, backup camera integrated into the factory NAV system and hard-wired Ipod adaptor with controls on the factory stereo) for the Avalon, but I would have paid $4,000 for good factory equipment, but it wasn't available at the time. Same for my Corvette. I bought a top-of-the-line portable navigation system, but it continuously falls from the windshield suction cup and I have wires in inconvenient places and I have to worry about someone smashing the window to steal it. Same for the Ipod adaptor in the Corvette. Again, though, when I purchased the Corvette these factory options were not available.

The Odyssey's RES and Nav are, I believe, top-notch equipment. Both work better and more efficiently, and are far more convenient (fully integrated) to use than any of my aftermarket equipment I have used on other cars. Especially the Nav system with the backup camera. It is excellent, cost-effective, and with small kids and blind spots inherit to such a vehicle, an absolute necesssity.

In sum, I highly recommend the factory equipment on the Hondas. It's good stuff. Sure you can save a little money by going to aftermarket equipment, but if you buy comparable quality stuff (everything fully integrated), you probably will not save much money and I can just about promise that you will have functioning problems. If you buy the cheaper stuff, you'll have wires hanging everywhere (nav) and you'll have a heckuva time operating the RES system or have your wife complaining about it continuously. If you just want to save money, you could buy a Dodge or another similar-quality vehicle. We buy Hondas, though, not because they are cheap, but because they are a good value. Same for the RES and NAV. I believe the factory options are a similar good value.

Does any one out there have any experience buying from a Kansas City Area Honda Dealer. I am getting ready to purchase a 2007 EXL.
  • workindevworkindev Member Posts: 12
Thanks for your thoughts. I'm not really looking for a cheaper solution, I'm trying to get around the lack of some basic features on the factory Honda system.

A $35,000 car that includes a $4,000 Navigation/Entertainment option should be have iPod and bluetooth options, and should be able to play MP3's. (Not to mention a trip monitor and MPG monitor, a temperature gauge and clock that people in the back can see, and automatic headlights, but I digress).

My goal would be to put a system in that has these features, and with a $4000 price difference, that should be pretty easy. I would be replacing the entire system - so the only integration issues would be the steering wheel controls, which a $50 adapter is available, so it doesn't seem like it would be a problem.

I can see some big issues with trying to replace or modify individual components, and I wouldn't want to do that for the very reasons you mention.

Sundevil is correct. I bought my 2007 EX-L with RES and NAV for 28,900, but then I put about $1800 worth of options on it.

Without options my OTD = 31,021
With options OTD = 33,000 since you have also to pay tax on options.

Best were Honda of Lisle and Brilliance Honda.

    Hi,

I purchased this from Castle Honda in Morton Grove. Mike A was the salesperson.

They had 1 silver and 1 beige as of Monday night.

    Thanks

I think you are right. Dealer not calling me back when I told them I wanted an O8 for that price. My latest quote for a 07 EX-L wRES went from $26,200 to $27,500 also, was told that it was a miscommunication. mmmmm.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Haven't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me as some stores still have ALOT of '07s and they are not getting any more valuable.

    Hello,
I'm looking into gettng a 2008 EX-L w/ RES and would like to get a TMV feel for what other folks in the Seattle area are paying. If you recently made a similar purchase on a 2008 Odyysey and are willing to share the price breakdown, dealer info, and/or buying experience, please reply to this thread. Any pricing data is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Must be a regional thing because nobody around here is within $1000 of $25300 for a base EXL. In fact, Invoice - $2500 Dealer incentive - 3% holdback is over $25300, so that dealer must either have a bunch on the lot that they are trying to get rid of, or they are getting some kind of volume bonus for getting rid of the cars on the lot.
  • beebowbeebow Member Posts: 12
Sorry to hear that they did this to you, it's an old scheme to get you in. I don't know where you are located so I can't offer an option on the dealer. We bought our 08' from Trinity at Showcase Honda in Phoenix and they sold it to us for the exact OTD amount quoted by email. No hassles, or pressure. We negotiated quite a bit with several dealers and found the majority to follow the same scheme that you ran into. Good luck on your search and I hope that you find a deal that works for you.
  • desi2desi2 Member Posts: 15
    holdback is 2% - not 3%

Most dealers are asking for Invoice - incentive which for EXL comes out to be around 26300.

IF you do not have a trade they will go few hundred dollars lower. SO anything around 25800 is a good price.

If you have a trade-in then deal is not transparent as one can easily give you better deal in one pocket to balance out in another.
  • desi2desi2 Member Posts: 15
There is no way to know exactly how much you paid for your EXL.

IF you think that may be a fait value should have been $6600 on your trade then you actually paid 26400 or your purchase.

There is no way to determine purchase price of a car when a trade-in is involved.
  • desi2desi2 Member Posts: 15
How did it go in person?
    What dealership was this?

Of course there is - just keep the transactions separate.

Has anyone purchased the Odyssey EXL 2008 with DVD and Navigation in and around Orange County , CA recently.

    Am currently pricing this vehicle.

Am planning to buy on 36 months lease with zero down.

Also any idea what is the current Money Factor on this vehicle.

    Thanks
  • workindevworkindev Member Posts: 12
The quotes that I received for a 2007 EXL RES/NAV ranged from $29,300 to $31,000 + TTL. Those are the quotes for the base price, destination, and any options.
  • sastryjgsastryjg Member Posts: 4
    Can you share dealer information
    appreciated
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
That's right, but you should shoot for $25300 with no trade, include freight and processing, for a EX-L, since that's what a few of us have gotten.

Looking to lease a Honda Odyssey Touring in N.Y.
Never have leased..How do I go about negotiating
  • workindevworkindev Member Posts: 12
These were all in the central TX area for 2007 EXL RES/NAV:

Classic Honda Round Rock gave a quote for $31,700 OTD (The are out of stock now)
Benson Honda in San Antonio said they could match any quote, but never gave a quote
Fernandez Honda in San Antonio came in at around $31,700 OTD
Gunn Honda in San Antonio was at $31850 OTD
I had quite a few others in the $32,300, and my highest quote came from Newmeyer Honda in Victora at $33,250, which they wouldn't budge on.

I think the biggest problem is that most dealers in this area have managed their 2007 inventory pretty well, so they only have a couple of them left. With $2500 off they seem to be going quickly.

We have decided on a 2007 EXL from Cleo Bay Honda in Killeen for $28143 OTD. They have agreed to deliver it to us for no charge (approx 80 mile drive). I'll use the $3500 savings to put my own AVIC-Z2 nav system in.
  • workindevworkindev Member Posts: 12
$25,300 with no trade is a fantastic price, but (at least around here) is going to be very hard to get. That is below dealer cost (including holdback), and inventory is running low. If you find a dealer that has 15 of them on the lot you may be able to work it, but nobody would come close to that for me.
  • siggie1siggie1 Member Posts: 56
You may want to make sure the AVIC-Z2 system will fit. When I was shopping for our Odyssey the car stereo install shop told me that they could not put a double-DIN aftermarket system into an Odyssey.
  • workindevworkindev Member Posts: 12
It does. American International now makes a double DIN adapter faceplate for 05 - 08 Odysseys. It is pretty new - within the past year or so. So new that both Crutchfield and Bestbuy still say Double DIN won't fit, but if you check on Circuit City they show that it fits.

Here are some pics of an installation:

How you negotiate depends on your circumstances. Are you trading in another vehicle? Do you want to put down any money (captial reduction)?

In some ways a lease is both easier than a purchase and more complicated. In the end the lease comes down to three factors: the amount you put down as capital reduction (I suggest zero), the amount you pay each month, and the residual value in case you want to purchase the vehicle when the lease matures. No matter what the capital cost is (i.e. the purchase price) or the money factor (i.e. the interest rate divided by 2400), the bottom line is the total monthly payment (in most states sales tax is paid on the lease payment each month, not at inception).

To give you an idea of what I negotiated for our 08 Touring: I put zero down for capital reduction and had the first month's payment due at inception. The out the door amount was $774 (first month's payment plus tags and title). My monthly payment, including sales tax, is $570. Every other dealer in the Miami area gave me a quote in the low to mid-600s for the same vehicle.

Honda is offering reduced lease deals on the 08 Touring through Jan 2. The money factor at the time I leased was 0.00228 compared to Honda's normal money factor of 0.00280. If you are interested in the details of what the dealer is quoting, ask for the Dealer Disclosure Form. It is the printout of the American Honda Finance Corp. lease system. It tells you purchase price, dealer markup, fees, and the money factor. Many dealers will not send you that document. If a dealer won't give you that information, and you want it, I found it helpful to call the head of Internet Sales and ask them for a lease quote on the phone. While they're talking to you and have the AHFC system right in front of them, they seem less hesitant to give you the information on the Dealer Disclosure Form.

If a dealer offers you a really low lease rate you may want to make sure it is an AHFC lease. Some dealers offer leases from other companies. In my opinion, an AHFC lease is preferable because there is no disposition fee, GAP insurance is included, there is $1500 wear-and-tear forgiveness when you turn the vehicle in, and there are no restrictions on moving into another state. On some other companies' leases if you move to another state you have to inform the lease company and they may not allow you to move the vehicle. An AHFC lease is just much more simple and easy to understand.

I have a quote for a 2007 EXL RES NAV for $28,400 plus destination + TTL. Is this good (NJ) or should I be looking for something better? Also, someone posted that the special fiancing can now be combined with the dealer cash; any news on that?

    Thanks.

I have a quote for a 2007 EXL RES NAV for $28,500 including destnation, fog lights, splash guards and doc fee only i have to pay MV fee and my Tax
  • esteezeesteeze Member Posts: 102
28,500 including destination and doc fees is pretty good... in late November the best I could find was around 29,500 NOT including those fees.
  • sundevilsundevil Member Posts: 28
I just got emails from 2 dealers in Chicagoland area stating that the $2500 dealer incentive currently going on can be combined with the special APR rates offered by Honda Financial service, this is valid till 2nd Jan.
I guess Honda is trying real hard to get rid of the 2007s... those who have held out till now can get a even better deal but would have to act quick as the colors/options will become limited soon.

Yikes - $570 per month on a Touring lease!

I bought my '05 Touring R&N with no money down and my payment is $631.99.

I got a quote for 2007 Odyssey EX for $2,3000 including destination charge. Is this a good deal? Is there any room to negotiate? I am in east St. Louis area. It is my first time buying a new car. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
I assume you put the comma in the wrong place and meant $23,000.

    If so, jump on it.
  • fenicep3fenicep3 Member Posts: 14
Thank you for answering my post, I really appreciated it. $570 a month is a little high, I was thinking in the range of 500. I did get a quote over the phone for $540 15k miles and wood trim...but I really did not know all the things you spoke about. ( such as disposition fee, gap insurance, etc). I am not trading anything in nor do I wish to put anything down (that is what everyone is telling me, it seems). I will try negotiating adding all the info you have provided me with. Thank you.

    Hi,

I'm in the market for a minivan. Choice is between Ody and Sienna. Today I got an offer of 28900 on a new ODY 07 EXL RES/NAV from the dealer in NYC. He said delivery charge is 599 that he would be ready to split with me if I move by tomorrow. Is this a good deal?
  • carlosnmiacarlosnmia Member Posts: 4
I've tried the donkey method and on my first round I got 28,150 OTD. Does anyone know if this is decent for the VA area. Or should I just wait until closer to the end of the month when they will be getting more desperate?
  • csgatorscsgators Member Posts: 2
Thanks, cccompson. Yes, I meant $23,000. I emailed the dealer and offered 22,700. He replied that I must come to the shop for him to offer a price lower than $23,000. I plan to go to the dealer tomorrow. What should I expect?
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
Be pleasantly surprised if you're not jerked around.
