Got this quote here in NJ for $29K for 2007 EX-L RES/NAV?
Also got a quote for $32K for 2008 EX-L RES/NAV. These are before doc (around $250) + TTL fees. So OTD should be around $29.5K for 2007 and $32.5K for 2008.

I called several dealers here in NJ and this is the best which I got so far. Are these good deals?

The lowest quote I received for a 36 month lease, 12 thousand miles for a honda Odyssey Touring w/out pax was 626 a month with 626 + dmv out of pocket at signing. The Odyssey touring has wood trim, 3rd row sunshade, splash guards, door edge guards, fenderwell garnish and moonroof visor. Should I pull the trigger or wait.....I appreciate all answers and especially all help.

I am leasing a 2008 Touring with 15K miles/year for $570/month including sales tax. Out the door was first month's payment plus registration and title. The accessories I got were splash guards, pinstripe, door edge guard, and rubber cargo mat.

Good luck and congrats on your family's purchase.

All I can tell you is that my area is littered with Odyssey's---its unbelieveable, but I live in the #2 fastest growing county in America, and #1 for per capita income (not that I'm rolling in it since living costs are plenty high here too)--hence all the minivans and Ody's in particular. Anyway, I know dozens of people who own them and I've yet to hear a negative report. A few folks have had minor issues, but nothing like I read here.

Now, that doesn't mean much, but it underscores the point you make--you hear a disproportionate amount of negatives on a board like this. You see it on virtually every car.

Hopefully, my car will be trouble free, and hopefully yours will be too. We've only owned ours for a month, as I said, but we've been very happy and the braking, steering and transmission has all been flawless. We paid $25.3k, including destination and processing, for an 07 EX-L in the color we wanted, so i just don't think you can beat the overall package.

A final note on the 2007 in particular--the 07 Ody has a different transmission than the previous generations. The 07 has the Ridgeline transmission which Honda has had virtually no problems with whatsoever. Although Honda tried to fix the previous tranny, at the end of the day they decided to make the change and that was a factor in our comfort level.

A final note on the 2007 in particular--the 07 Ody has a different transmission than the previous generations.

Let me get this straight ...

For model years '05 and '06, Honda used the same tranny in the Ody ...

Then for model year '07, Honda switched to using the Ridgeline tranny?

    Thanks,

Thanks mfletou1, and everyone else who offered opinions and advice. This board is a great source of information.

We did the deal today on the 07 EX-L. The final numbers were:

    Vehicle price: $24924.76
    Dealer Fee: $599 :(
    FL. Battery Fee: $1.50
    FL. Tire Fee: $5.00
    Electronic Vehicle Registration $32.00
    **********************************************************************
    Taxable Total: $25562.26
    6% Tax $1553.74
    Tag, Title, Reg. Fees $36.35
    FL. Lemon Law Fee $2.00
    **********************************************************************
    Total: $27,134.35

This vehicle had wheel locks, splashguards, cargo tray, and pinstripe. I figure their value to be $215 (not including pinstripe) according to H and A.

So including the dealer "Pre-delivery Service Charge" (Dealer fee) it looks like we paid $25524.76 + TTL. Subtract the $215 in Dealer accesories, and we are at $25309.76.

That was good enough for me, and unlesss I've missed something, I think $25300, is about the best price I've seen posted here.

She was going to pay cash, but since Mom qualified for the 2.9% rate, she opted to finance for 36 months and put the $27,000 in a CD instead. :shades:

In the end, smiles all around... :)

    Hi Litfuse,
Can you please post the dealer that you bought this van from. I am in FL too, just wondering if I can make a similar deal with this guy.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
That's right...the 2005 and 2006 Ody has a different transmission than the 2007. For 2007, Honda switched units to the one that is used in the Ridgeline (which also has the same engine). Much as I'm sure they would not admit it, they were still having some issues with that transmission. It was much better than the one before that (the infamous one with the class action lawsuit), but not ideal.

That is a good price, lit. I should note that my $25300 also included a bunch of accessories which totaled something like $400 on the sticker. They were thrown in for no fee from the beginning of my negotiation.

Still, you did excellent--there are very, very few people who have purchased an Ody EX-L for less than that.

Buler; that sounds like a great deal. Where are you located and what dealer is this?

    Hi nanwar786,

May I ask you which dealer in NJ gave you this deal?

    Yours,

    Murali.
  • riverview2riverview2 Member Posts: 2
Purchased EX-L. Has pinstripes and the mudguards.
    $25,000 (including Destination charge)
    $389 (doc fee)
    $6.50 TLBF
    $40 tag

And got blue book on my trade. Seems decent to me. Went to Sarasota. Ask for Tavaris. Great guy. They have about 15 or so more 2007's left.

Question is whether or not the following are worth it:

    1) Tire Hazard insurance - $280
    2) Protector (exterior/interior) $395 (did not get)
    3) Extended Warranty through Fidelity - $1495 100,000 mile/6 year

I'm considering cancelling the tire hazard and extended warranty. They are not in the price above and weren't contingent in the deal. What does everybody think?

I got above quote from honda dealer in NJ. Is this price good?
  • litfuselitfuse Member Posts: 16
It looks like you got a great deal. :)

I would drop the tire insurance, it seems kind of pricey. Also, if I were going to buy an extended warrranty, the only one I would consider is HondaCare. It can be tough to get at a discount being a Floridian, but I was able to purchase the 7 YR/100,000 0 deductible for just under $1000 from an out of state dealer. This was back in '03 though. I'm sure the warranty has gone up since then, and you would still have to find a willing Honda dealer to sell it to you.

Honda corporate doesn't care where you buy it BTW, it's just that most out of state dealers won't sell to Floridians because of some absurd law or something.

The dealer did throw in Mud Flaps and not much else. I got the 2.9% financing from Honda.
  • coil99coil99 Member Posts: 11
    I'd like to know too.

The best price I am getting on an EX-L-RES in East Tennessee is about a thousand more than that (~$27,799).

Just got a 2007 Odyssey Touring with NAV. I was shopping for a 2008 EXL in central texas but found this 2007 Touring which was the last 07 Touring they had on the lot. I got it for 33.3K + TTL. The price included a one added feature of paint protection which I did not care for. I accepted the deal with the low 2.9% 36 month financing. The price is about 2700 below invoice and I have seen postings with several hundred dollars cheaper than this price. But the 2.9% financing was too tempting to let go. I figured the saving due to the low finance rate justified the slightly higher price.

    $10.00 (DMV online fee)

    SamsVans:

We obtained an 07 Touring with DVD & Navi (Nimbus/OIive), door edge guards, wheel locks, pin striping, and wheel well paint (plus 2 full tanks of gas and 2 free oil changes) from Kuhn Honda in Tampa (using quote from Regal Honda Lakeland, who has lower dealer fee $299):

    $32, 682.57 (includes $635 destination)+
    $599.99 dealer fee +
    $2065 FL tax =
    $35,348 OTD.

I thought this was a great price. I did purchase a 5 year, unlimited mile road hazard warranty for $280. Though, I am always very leary, I was assured it will cover the PAX tires for hazards. My salesman was great; very personable, not high pressure. You can email me for contact info for both Kuhn and Regal: honda2004tampa@hotmail.com

My Christmas present was a 2007 EXL R&N with 8 miles on it, September 07 manufacture date. Looking at the paperwork, costs were:

$29852.34 (including destination, doc fee, and ERT fee)
    $2090.00 state tax
    $15.00 county tax
    $143.00 title & plates

    Total OTD: $32100.34

That price also included remote start (installation and 3-yr warranty--dealer price $395+tax), interior/exterior protective coatings (paint/carpet/upholstery/rust/underbody/soundshield w/ 5-7-10 yr warranties--dealer price supposedly $1089+tax?), full tank of gas, and 2x/yr for 3 yrs free exterior detailing/paint job to keep it looking like new (dealer threw this in unprompted, I think to keep my husband from countering with a lower number).

I know some say the coatings are a ripoff but I like the warranty peace of mind, for a reasonable upcharge (which I know $1K is not). We are on-street parkers and the Chicago weather can really do a number on your car, plus we've got 3 kids ages 3-11 and assorted friends of theirs that can really do some damage.

Did my husband make out okay or should he have tried for lower? I made him read here first and get multiple internet quotes using the donkeypunch method, but he's not big on haggling.
  • zakimanzakiman Member Posts: 71
I got a quote from a dealer in Virginia after haggling the price from 33K and some change. I was quoted $27200 +Tax+Title+Processing fee. Is this a good deal on an 07 or should I get a better deal on an 08? Please let me know your comments at the earliest convenience. If I go for an EX-L without the RES, would the price be much lower than what I was quoted.
Thanks very much in advance for any comments/suggestions, I really appreciate it.
  • riverview2riverview2 Member Posts: 2
    Appreciate the feedback.

I dropped the tire roadside hazard and the protection guard they sell. Only thing I have is the Fidelity Care 6yr/100,000 warranty. Definately considering dropping it. They also sell honda care, but the two dealers I have talked to are priced identical. I haven't priced it more. Of course, the florida price I am seeing is about $500 above the price you can buy on the internet from the rhode island dealership. Nobody can sell in florida, but the dealers.

Unless, I can find someone willing to reduce the price on Honda Care, I will probably just stick it out with the one I have financed into the loan.

Great minivan. Just waiting on the baby now.

I am in NJ. DCH Paramus. Ask for Wes.

Best sales rep., negotiated over emails. Could have got better deal (29.1 K ODT ) if not for the floor manager. I was pressed for time, negotiated deal on Friday, closed on Monday.

Over all good experience; except for I have to deal with high pressure floor Mgr. I did not have time to argue for $100.

They are not upfront with finance; But I said I don't need finance, I have 5.2% from credit union; they offered to beat the rate; Gave 4.9% on Friday; While signing papers I asked business manager to give 2.9 % 36 and she gave it.

Went to this dealer since they had "Pearl Red" van.

I have been quoted $38,475 plus TT&T for an OTD of $41,407.00, for an 08 Baltic Blue w/o PAX, in NW Fla.

Anyone think that's a bad deal?

I was looking for Odyssey EX-L and got quote:-

    2008 EX-L with DVD:- $29,235 + TTL
    2008 EX-L :- $28,470 + TTL

I'm in IE, CA. not sure if it's good price or not.
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
That price seems high, especially considering the steep dealer fee that will be tacked on in FL.
  • jefandcheljefandchel Member Posts: 4
The OTD is including the dealer fee so $41,475 still high? It's been the same numbers between 3 dealers down here, but for some reason the Baltic Blue Pearl is very hard to get.

    LX model
    $375 for 12k miles/yr -- 3 years

    EX model
    417 for 12k miles/yr -- 3 years

    Used Donkeypunch method (Thanks!)
    07 EXL
    $25.1K (3 dealers were 25.1K to 25.3K plus same below...give or take $20)
    plus $100 (4) mudguards
plus $58 doc and $30 drive-away tags last night.
Visited family over Christmas in Milwaukee and picked up Odyssey 12/26.
    Will pay tax in Minnesota.

Excellent experience and method. Thanks Donkeypunch!!

    rrsmigs,
Will you please include dealership name, city and state and salesperson of the 3 dealers?
    Thanks!
  • cccompsoncccompson Member Posts: 2,382
If you're getting the same number from 3 different stores then you've established what the local market is for the vehicle. Your choice is either to pay that number or shop elsewhere for a lower number (readily available elsewhere).

Even at the year end I couldn't get a deal better than $26,300 on a 2007 EX-L in Houston area. I called McDavid Frisco and they quoted me $26,944. Would you please share more details of your deal? If McDavid Frisco would clobber your deal (the salesman asked for more details of the deal, i.e. sales number, name, etc.) I am willing to go to Dallas for the van. But I have to be prepared for the negotiation before driving 4 hours to get there. Thanks!

$29,235 for 2008 EX-L RES is a very low quote for the base price including destination. Are you sure the dealer is being honest with this quote? If so, go for it! The best offers in Western WA Seattle area for the same car are $31,250 + Tax, Title, Lic, and accessories. So your quote is 2k less than the best quotes in western WA, and according to the dealers around here, is 2k less than invoice.

OK got a good deal offer from a MA delaer on an EX L w/ Res (26850) signed paperwork but have not given anything more than a $300,,,but then...after literally 3 hrs in the "business mgrs" office DH agreed to what we thought was Hondacare...nope it's Boch's 3rd party warrenty. Supposed to pick up the car on Monday and want to remove the ext. warrenty from the loan and sales agreement.

Am I screwed? I assume you have 3 business days to cancel any contract in a worse case scenario where they won't simply remove it and play hard ball over the whole thing...
