Finally got it last night and it was a breeze to install.

Nice compliment to the trunk of the car- no regrets so far.

I wish all accessories were that easy to install.

I don't think I would call taking the tray out of the box and putting it in the trunk an "installation". (Although a dealer may try to convince you otherwise.)

I just bought a 2004 EX-L MANUAL SHIFT with various options installed by the dealer. The auto day/night mirrir has been back ordered from Honda. (I'm disappointed). I'm anxious to see it work.

I am also interested in the "cell phone interface". Does anyone have it and if so is it practical?

They are being installed tomorrow (along with new bumper - only 4000 miles, and hit by a trailer hitch - sniffle.) Thanks to Robr2, I contacted Hondaacuraworld.com for lug nuts for wheel covers, and bought the fog lights from them as well. Tim Poliniak there was amazing - helpful, nice, and went out of his way to make sure I got the fog lights in time for the appointment. Price was terrific, and shipping was free, saving over $100 than if I had bought them from the dealer. I recommend them highly!

As for the fog lights, I'll report back if I recommend *them* highly! So far, those in VT who have Accords with fog lights swear by them. If they do nothing else but help me avoid all the potholes on the interstate and city streets, they will be well worth it.

For the Do It Yourself crew ... I am going to install the Auto/Dimming Mirror this weekend on my 04 Coupe ... I have the 04 mirror.

Question is on the reading lights. The install guide says to pop them out. What is the best way to remove the lights? I assume a soft flat blade will do the job, but I thought I'd ask for any tricks. Everything else is pretty simple.

    Thanks in advance!

Personally, I would like the foglights on my Accord, but more for aesthetics. I think that the headlights on the Accord are wonderful, especially on brights. I'm also coming froim a Nissan and a Dodge product which notoriously have poor headlights.

Just ordered a K&N Typhoon air induction system for my 2002 Honda Accord Coupe with the 3.0 V6 engine. Autozone quoted me $489 + tax + shipping. Got it on line for $226 total inc. shipping. Can't wait to get hold of it. Any comments re installation would be appreciated.

I am the proud owner of a 2004 red Accord coupe V-6 6 speed, I picked it up today. Thanks for all the help with questions about accessories. I had a nice surprise when I learned the car came with an outside temp gauge from the factory. Now I do not have to pick between fog lights or a temp gauge, I can have both. I realize there are a lot of places on line to order parts. In your opinion which is the best for service, price, costumer satisfaction etc… Thanks again for all the help.

You'll love the 6 speed coupe. What kind of faux wood trim is your interior. I got black 6 speed coupe, but would have condsidered the red, if I could have seen the interior on one. All the 5 speed coupes that I saw had tan interior with a medium wood trim & I preferred the carbon fiber trim with the black interior. The 6 speed coupes are supposed to have an 'exclusive' interior trim, so I'm curious as to what the trim looks like with the red/tan combo.

And the way this coupe wants to run down the highway, I hope you have a badge in your pocket!!
    I concur on handa-accessories.com/
    Congrats again.

My Accord came with the carbon fiber trim, and yes the car does travel much differently than my Xterra or Tahoe. I am taking it easy during the break in period. So far its great, the XM radio is wonderful. I don’t plan on listening to the local channels any time soon. I highly recommend the 6 speed. As I have said before, get the car you want, you will enjoy it more.

Don't know who first mentioned them, but the HandA site is indeed excellent.

Has anyone ever tried the 3M Clearbra Paint Protection kits? How do they work? Have you noticed fade with this product? Can you get this product for the doors also?

After putting up with the rattle sound that appears to come from the passenger dash board or A pillar, and a brake that vibrates with a grinding sound when doing a hard braking, for three months, I finally took my 03 Accord to the dealer and have the problems inspected. To my amaze, the mechanic, however, found the rattles came from the Passenger side SUNVISOR and driver side AIR BAG. They fix both at no charge since my car is still under the limited warranty. As to the brake, they did found grinding and pulsating due to the front brake pads. They mechanics guy told me that the 2003 model Honda started to used different material brake pads then the 6 generations honda, thus created new problem with the grinding sound. He said they replace the brake pads with the upgraded version pads that Honda recently provided, which tell me that Honda was aware of the problem. Any member who have weird brake sound or the brake pedal vibrating when doing a sudden stop should bring it to their local dealer to get it check before the car's warranty expired. I did and now mine work great!

Other than those on the 7th gen Accord's V6 manual, the Acura TSX's 17 inchers are a perfect match for the current Accord.

Correct offset (+55, like the 16" factory rims) means no fender/brake contact. The wider shoulder however increases the car's track, good for handling and appearance.

Put on the TSX set for my coupe, and the proportions of the car have improved imo. The minimalist style also matches the coupe's theme. Ride has firmed up a bit, but it's still acceptable. Get 'em from eBay.

Glad you got all your problems fixed, why did you wait 3 months?
  • lawdawgfllawdawgfl Member Posts: 75
Does the Accord have a power outlet that stays on all the time? The one under the radio turns off with the engine. I haven't checked the one in the center console. If the car does not have one thats stays one, can a modification be made so that one will, for cell phone recharging or computers? Thanks for the help..
  • rcc8179rcc8179 Member Posts: 131
Both power outlets (under radio, inside center console) are only active if the ignition is on. Switching them to be always on will require some rewiring to tap into an always-active circuit.
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
If you're not averse to DIY (do-it-yourself), 1) buy a $7.00 power outlet extension cord (about 6 feet) from Radio Shack (each end is a male & female copy of the car's standard power outlet), 2) cut off the male end, 3) splice a fuse-link into one of the wires, 4) tap into an "always on" wire from the main fusebox like the map/dome light, 4) route extension cord to desired area inside the car.

Caveat: useful limit is cellphone charging if tapping from a map/dome light. Not sure if the power window wires are "always on" but they should have higher amperage to feed a laptop (if laptop is 12v, so be careful there too). Best bet is to tap from a high-ampere source, like the power outlet/cig lighter, that's "always on."
  • whitecloudwhitecloud Member Posts: 29
You could buy a battery pack device like "auto starter" a small box about 7" long. Use that when your car is off and charge the "auto starter" when you're driving. I use it to charge my cell battery and run other 12v items. It can't really start a car that needs a jump though.

Any reason why you wouldn’t buy fog lights off of e-bay? The ads list them as new and OEM with all harnesses and equipment needed to install. The prices range from $115-$130 to $240.

Looking for a source for a 3rd remote keyless entry key for 2004 Accord. Not really a separate unit, sort of built into the top of the key. Any ideas?

I am about half way thru my subwoofer install in my 04 V6 Coupe. I chose to mount it behind the interior panel on the left side, rear seat.(behind the armrest). I picked a Kicker, 8" and mounted it on a heavy board, lined inside of fender with dynamat and laid in lots of polyfil. My Sony amp fits nicely under driver's seat. I really don't want loud or thumpy bass, just a mild boost to the low freqs & I really hate having a lot of my trunk taken up by a speaker box, Bazooka tube or even a Basslink. I'll post how it sounds when I'm done & some install pics on my web page. Should be finished tomorrow, just have to run turn-on lead & ground wire and reassemble the interior.
  • dust90dust90 Member Posts: 169
Changed my mind about installing subwoofer behind the side panel. Way too much work removing that interior, if you have to do maintenance on the speaker or wiring. Went with a 12" Kenwood in a box in the trunk and amp under the drivers seat. At least running all the wires was easier with all the interior out. If I need the trunk space(rarely), I can remove the speaker box. Sounds great by the way!

Been looking for replacement keys for the Honda. The problem is not the key, but the computer. They have a clone-ing device that clones keys, but the Honda has a floating code. Clone-ing won't work. The dealer has to program the key into the computer. Henceforth the dealer would be your only source

Has anybody seem the new Metra kit for the Accord? Not the cubby hole kit, but the one that replaces the stock radio. Does anyone have a picture of this install?
  • gwleonggwleong Member Posts: 36
I have an 8" powered Bazooka sub that I was thinking of installing in my EXV6 sedan. Has anyone ever done this? What are the guidelines to wiring it up? I know it's better to get a crossover, etc. but I'm on a budget. I think you splice into the rear speakers somehow and the power from ?.

Please advise to instructions and if the difference in sound is worth the effort.

    Thanks for a great forum!!

I did my subwoofer install last weekend(see post#892) & here is what I did. I ran a 10 guage hot wire from + battery terminal(fused at battery) thru the firewall, just above the throttle cable, then along the bottom, drivers' side edge of the center console and under the seat. I fit my amp under the seat(a small Sony that is bridgable and has a low pass filter to drive a subwoofer. The speaker input you refer to is called speaker level input and I tapped into the rear speaker wires. The right-rear speaker negative wire is blue with a yellow stripe and the left-rear speaker negative wire is blue with a black stripe. DO NOT get the polarity wrong to the amp. There was a grounding bolt under the seat(I guess for the heated & power seat) that worked great to ground the amp. I ran the speakerwires from the factory rear speakers to the amp and then from the amp back to the trunk area under the plastic cover along the edge of the carpet(It just pulls up - start at the rear and if you want to remove the whole thing, there is a screw under a pop off cover near the lock for the trunk and fuel door release) and along side of the rear seat bottom and into the trunk. I ended up using a 8" Bazooka tube, as the Kenwood 12" had a much to boomy sound. The Bazooka sounds great for my type of music(NO rap). Hope this helps, oh yeah I did pull the drivers seat out(4 bolts, but 3 electrical plug ins to disconnect), but not really necessary. The biggest pain was running the wire thru the firewall and routing it to the under seat area. If this seems too much for you, a good stereo shop could probably do this fairly reasonably.

In January I purchased a 2004 Accord EXV6 with Navi in Graphite Pearl. I love this car. The interior is super but the car came with "pretty" gray carpeted floor mats that do not look like they would hold up well with winter rain, mud, and road yuk coming into the car. My solution was to purchase 4 charcoal colored utility floor mats from Walmart. Each of these rubber backed
mats cost $2.50. I used the pretty original mats as a template to cut the Walmart mats to custom sizes for each of the 4 locations. I used those heavy duty scissors (the kind that can cut a penny in half) to do the trimming - takes about 3 minutes per mat. Two of the mats need holes. I used an electric drill with a 3/8" bit - quick. The brand on the mats say "Mainstays home" and were found in the home section kind of near automotive in my Walmart. The mats are working fine and don't detract from the appearance of the interior. The mats won't catch and hold a lot of water but they are easily cleaned and replaced for not a whole lot of money. They work for me.

I just my '04 Accord EX V6 into Ken Dixon Honda in Waldorf, MD to have the black bra installed. The total cost was $164.99 with installation. I wish I could have installed the 3M Clearbra on the entire front of the car (and the lower sides of the car), but the wife said we need to save money. The cost of the clearbra would have been $795. I guess I'll just wax the car and detail every other day. I usually use the Meguire's Quick Detailer and spray off all the dust on the car. I've had the car for about 2 months, and I love it. The wife thinks I get turned on by seeing it all shiny. How little does she actually know...

It kills me when dealers charge you to "install" certain items. It's almost as bad as the inane charges for "inspection" of certain items on the high priced scheduled maintenance visits.

All the installation of the bra involves is changing one plastic clip in each front fender well for a snap/clip and then putting the bra on the car. You could have saved $70 by buying the bra online and installing it yourself. You are going to have to "install" the bra every time you take it off for washing and waxing. And don't get me started on floor mats...

    Hi all,

I have a '04 EX V6 with the original 16" wheels. Do you think changing to 17" wheel with 215 wide tires will significantly enhance the handling of the car ? Have any of you done that ?
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
I think it would, if the 215 isn't too wide.
  • nw1997nw1997 Member Posts: 227
I placed 18"'s on our Accord with low profiles. Handles very well with cornering and changing lanes.
  • htthtt Member Posts: 75
I think 215 isn't too wide to fit because that is one of the accessories of the Accord sold by Honda dealers. I saw a set of TSX's wheels on Ebay today. It has the same dimension as the wheel sold by Honda. But I'm not sure if I want the "A" on my wheels.

A journalist is hoping to interview a consumer who has purchased a used car, truck or SUV and customized it with accessories to match interests and tastes. What kind of extras did you add? Leather? Sunroof/moonroof? Upgraded stereo? Video system with flip down monitor? Off-road gear? Wheels and tires? Special paint jobs? Window tinting?

just got my trunk tray for my 03 ex-v6 sedan

    pretty sweet. i like
  • dust90dust90 Member Posts: 169
My 6 speed coupe came standard with 215-50-17 tires, so should be no problem for any 03-04 Accord.
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
I have them on my 03 EX V6 coupe. Ride has firmed up a bit, but is still comfortable while handling is sharper.

The specs of the TSX set are the same as the 7th gen Accord rims across all trim models; absolutely no fender or brake rotor contact even with full load (ever felt the agony of expensive tires scraping against the fender because of 2 rear passengers ? I have - on another car).

215x50x17 is a good profile (standard on the TSX and Accord V6 manual) because of sufficient shoulder height; tires will take normal ruts without bubbling or denting the rim.

To finish off the ensemble, I replaced the A (Acura) center caps with the H type (about $40 a set on eBay).

After owning my 03 Accord LX Sedan (which I love) I decided to upgrade the wheels for equal reasons of style/performance. After all, there are so many LX sedans, it's nice to have one little exterior feature to pick it ouf of a parking lot.

I went with 17"s, since that's what comes on the performance coupe. The upgraded tires are wider, but with the same diameter of course, so that the speedo stays precise. BTW-the speedo is VERY precise at all speeds, as verified by a Garmin Street Pilot.

The wheels aren't anything flashy like chrome or wierd colors, just a nice 10-spoke silver finish alloys with some aqua-channel performance tires. I have to say it was the best thing I could have done for the car.

The ride didn't get noticably firmer, but the new tires are MUCH quieter than the stock Michelin Energy MXV4's that I consider slightly noisy. The braking and cornering ability, especially on wet streets, is VASTLY improved. I used to get VERY annoyed when I would rush to catch a left-turn light and the stock tires would scream like the end of the world, even under low speeds. Also with the stock tires, I could frequently feel ABS pedal pulsation when in the wet, even when not stopping abruptly. Again, gone with the upgrade.

I think the stock tires are great and are known to have exceptional tread life, but I enjoy the asthetic and safety/performance gain of the upgrade. I recommend it, if you are at all interested.
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
    lelandhendrix:

Just curious... which tires DID you get with your wheel upgrade?
  • lelandhendrixlelandhendrix Member Posts: 240
They aren't well known, and are VERY inexpensive.

    Ventus HRII H405's.

They even performed satisfactorily in the snow. But these things stick VERY well in moderate to high temps.

Has anyone tried to install Brembo brakes on a 2004 Accord EX V6?
  • htthtt Member Posts: 75
This may be a stupid question. Can I install wider tires on my Accord EX V6 without changing the rims ? The stock tires are 205 wide. Does 215 fit in the same rim ?
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
I'm sure they will. Someone else on this board said that their V6 with manual came with 17" 215.
  • htthtt Member Posts: 75
Does wider tire require wider rim ?
  • nw1997nw1997 Member Posts: 227
    htt,

Have u swtiched to the 87 octane yet? Also, depends how wide of a tire your upgrading to. Tire Rack has sets already matched for your vehicle. They can come mounted and speed balance on new rims if u choose that route.
  • c182skylanec182skylane Member Posts: 64
Yes, the 17" rims are wider. See for yourself on the hondacars.com site and get the detailed specs on exv6 coupe w/ 6MT compared to the exv6 automatic with 16" rims.
