Dealers generally don't do the tints themselves, they send it out. Just as them who they use and go to them. I had my dealer handle it when I bought my car just because it was easier--and at $200 I don't think it was any more expensive.

I will advise anyone who has this accesory on their short list to forget about it.

I took mine off this weekend to Zaino my wife's car and there was so much sand trapped underneath the mask it was unbeleivable.I also think the sand left several scratch marks in the paint.

Thank God for Zaino-it took care of those fine scrathes, what a mistake on my end to installed this paint damaging accessory.

My only other choice now is to get the 3M invisible bra.

Does anynoe in the the Connecticut area (Fairfield County) know of an installer (3m that is).

Here is the 3M website where you can get a list of their authorized Installers:

    billyperks:

You have a second, and more viable choice. Why not use the paint that Honda applied at the factory? That's what perhaps 99.5% of owners use.

The well-recognized damaging effects of "nose masks" or "bras" are what most users fail to research prior to purchase. You will find that "invisible bras" have their shortcomings too, such as two-tone paint after a couple of years.

    Ken972 --

I just bought an 04 EX V6 Coupe (black leather interior, silver exterior) with the metal trim kit and steering wheel. Absolutely love them... the color of the trim contrasts nicely with the black interior, really decks it out nicely. Goes well with the silver exterior too. I can try to post some pictures if anyone out there is interested in seeing it for themselves; I know it was hard as hell to find any pictures of trim kits with black interior.

I am not sure what you are saying-

Are you suggesting that I use Honda's paint as a protection from rocks and debris or use the paint as a touch job for the chips?

I am desperate right now for some sort of front end protection-I did even know that the invisible bra in the long run would cause a two tone effect.

My wife wants to keep this car for at least 10 years,so I am trying my best to keep it in tip top shape.

wvuguy275, yes, please do post pictures, i would also be very interested in seeing what the trim looks like...

I read on a review for the 2004 accord at vehix.com that the following options are available:

"For 2004, Accord models with leather also have XM Satellite Radio. Dealers can add an MP3/Windows Media Player, a DVD rear-seat entertainment system, and a hands-free cell phone."

Does anyone know if the availability of a hands-free cell phone system for the accord is true? I assume this would be something like the 2004 tl's bluetooth system... This would be a very attractive option for me, but I have not been able to confirm it with honda's website or any other sources...
  • mikeysoftmikeysoft Member Posts: 63
I put a Honda hands free system into my 03 Accord. It comes in 3 parts. 1-Control unit, 2-wire harness for Accord, 3-connector from control unit to phone. It worked good with my old phone but not too good with my new phone, my new phone required a different connector and the connection was intermittent. Because of this, I replaced it with a Nokia hands free system.

Not sure if the Honda's hands free system is still available. I herd rumors that it was discontinued.

    tlauro,
I was wondering how easy it was to install the front and rear sway bars from the 04 TL also is the Accord Strut Bar bolt on also?
Here is the list of parts I have found from looking at the Acura Dealership's website for the Rear Sway Bar
52300-S3M-A01 (Rear Sway bar 19MM SOLID) $33.20 (you need ONE)
52306-S0E-015 (19mm bushing) $4.45 each (you need TWO)
52308-S3M-A00 (19mm bracket) $3.55 each (you need TWO)
I had read that a bunch of people had done that with the <03 Acura TL Type S and their 6th Generation Accords.
Also could you list what parts you bought if they differ from above and did you have to use a lift to access the sway bar? I might not have access to a lift, would it be possible to still change out the sway bars?

    Thanks In Advance!
I apologize for the amount of questions, but I have not seen anyone else that has done what you did.

    billyperks:

I was trying to convey the idea that you should just relax so that both you and your wife can enjoy your new car the way it was designed and built. In ten years your windshield will probably have a few rock and debris nicks. That doesn't mean that you should add a protective layer there too.

I would apprecicate if you did post the pictures you have. I have a graphite pearl exv6 sedan with the grey interior so it would look a little different. I saw a picture on either h & A or college hills that showed it with the grey interior. I noticed the kit metallic looks a little different then what came on the car. Im concerned it wont match up with the cd door etc. Thanks
  • billyperksbillyperks Member Posts: 449
Sorry buddy- I can't enjoy a car that is dinged, scracthed, keyed, rock chipped or anything of that sort.

I am very picky when it comes to my cars- yeah, I am the fellow who parks a million miles away in Malls, Home Depot, Strip Malls you name it.

I just like my cars shiny and dent free.

Are you related to PLANE @ a major hedge fund in California?

I just washed my '04 Accord this past weekend. I live in Chicago so I wasn't able to hand wash it all winter.

I have eight, count them eight, chips in my paint already. The largest is 1/4", most are small. I used Honda's touch up paint, but eight in five months is excessive.

My old car, on the same commute for five years, had three or four chips. Eight in five months is not making me too happy. I was thinking about a bra, but I'll have to do research on their issues.

And just today at lunch I saw my first door ding. Grrr.. I knew it would happen eventually, but it still sucks.
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
Feel your pain. But if you live in Chicago, maybe the best thing is that you still have the car in one piece.
  • billyperksbillyperks Member Posts: 449
I personally think that Hondas paint job is not up to par.

I see a couple of chips in my wife's car and you can definitly tell that the paint is weak.
  • browningmbrowningm Member Posts: 6
Honda has discontinued the hands free cell phone kit due to supplier issues. From what I understand they are planning on introducing a replacement version, but have not announced a date yet. We can only hope it will be bluetooth like the TL's.

I recently lost my Land Cruiser to a roll over accident. Being partial to imports I picked up a 2000 Honda Accord ex. Nice little car, although here in the altitude I would like to pick up some horse power for little money, is there anything I can do? I would like to keep it looking stock... Any help is appreciated, thanks

two tone paint? not true. I've had 3M on my last half dozen or so vehicles, two of which were black, my 1996 GTP and my 02 Trailblazer. The GTP is still around my neighbor hood and is in perfect condition. Black hasn't faded or shown any ill affects.

Red is great....hardly shows, silver it's totally invisible, white....only slightly noticable in early morning or late afternoon sun.

The only thing the current owner of the GTP has done is replace the hood piece last year due to an edge that came up after his 6 year old picked at it and pulled it up. It wouldn't go back down after so many years.

thanks wvuguy! i like the trim, especially around the center console. i'm also considering the deck lid spoiler, it's good to finally see a picture of one installed.

Hi, Your metallic trim looks awsome. Did you install it yourself? If so, can you give few pointers on how to get it and install it? This will by my first ever project on my new accord 2004. Any help will be appriciated...
    Thanks
  • wvuguy275wvuguy275 Member Posts: 7
Thanks for the kind words guys, glad I could be of some help.

Fifthwheel... both the trim kit and the steering wheel were installed at the dealership at time of purchase. I believe Handa Accessories has installation instructions for both on their website though; perhaps that will be of some use to you if you decide to install it yourself.

Weighed the risk and finally got 'em from eBay for $105.00 and guess what - the quality and functionality are 99.5% factory-par. The only imperfections are 8 incorrect screws (bought $3.00 replacements at Autozone) and white backlighting for the dash switch versus the v6's orange lights.

Don't know what professional installation costs, but it'll take the weekend tinkerer like me from 6 to 8 hours. Put in what you think your time is worth and compare with an installer's fee.

Key features: 1) true foglighting - wide peripheral coverage with good forward throw; reflectors and Osram bulbs are of high quality, and 2) auto-off on high beam.

    Quite a good value...
  • firemann1firemann1 Member Posts: 14
Good to hear the quality of the "OEM Style" foglights from the ebay sells is very good.

I installed OEM foglights on my Accord shortly after purchase a year ago. Very nice for fog and snow, especially at dusk.

So far, rocks have broken the lenses of 3 foglight lamps. So, before installing new foglight lamps, I bought and installed 40 mil 3M headlight projection film. Purchased from www.rockblocker.com. This 3M stuff is supposed to protect lamps from rocks at up to 140 mph.
The foglight lamps have the black plastic ring that snaps off. After snapping off the plastic ring, I cut the film to fit the lamp and applied the film to the lamp. Then snapped the ring back on. Can't tell the film is on the lamp. Hopefully, my foglight lamps will last lots longer!
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
...much appreciated ! The foglamps do look vulnerable being so low to the ground. On Atlanta's I-285, pebbles and other debris are practically part of the onrushing air. I might get those $39.00 "magnetic bras" from eBay, come to think of it.

BTW, prices at rockblocker.com are very reasonable. Thanks again, John.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
We already had to replace a lens on our 03 Si as well at a cost of $130. Will suggest the 3M film to him to protect that car as well as our 04 Accord.

I just installed the auto day/night mirror in my '04 EX-LNavi Accord. Installation was easy, even for a novice like me (Just make sure you have an old wire coat hanger lying around)

The mirror behaves wonderfully and is MUCH nicer than the stock mirror that the car comes with.

Do you happen to know where I can get a Black Chrome H emblem (trunnk only)for my 2003 4dr EX? I do not see that year on any of the web sites you listed.
  • ken972ken972 Member Posts: 162
Hello, I have a graphite 04 EXV6 sedan that came with floor mats. Just wanted to let people know that the premium accord mats are much nicer and look alot better then the standard mats. I just installed them in my car. H&A has a good price on them as well. Thinking of a decklid spoiler or chrome trim next.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
We have the decklid on our silver 04 sedan and like the improvement it made.

The standard mats are rather thin in the Accord. Once they are almost worn out we will replace them with the premium mats.
  • ken972ken972 Member Posts: 162
Im getting closer and closer to getting the decklid. I want to see one on a graphite car like mine. Just not sure if I want a classic luxury look or a sporty look. But sport would fit my driving style a little more Id say. The mats are dirt cheap on h&a right now. You might want to move up your purchase. They have a bunch of things on sale right now.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
I've seen a few graphite sedans with the decklid and they looked very nice as well. I think the silver needs the decklid spoiler more than the graphite though.

You were right about the mats. $34 is almost free. Also noticed that they have the front underbody spoiler for $185. I paid $230 when I ordered mine around Christmas last year.

Does the auto day/night mirror have a compass?
  • jmaxejmaxe Member Posts: 198
Yes, has a compass. It is available at H and A Accessories for $180.

Is it possible to have the 3 spoke steering wheel from the 2004 Accord Coupe installed in the 2004 Accord Sedan? The sedan's 4 spoke is nice, but I like the look of the 3 spoke, i.e. the Acura TSX's wheel. How much would this cost? Is it as simple as swapping out the steering wheels?
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
www.handa-accessories.com has the coupe steering wheel for a limited time at $299. It says that it is for the 2-door coupe only though so I am not sure if it can be fitted to the sedan. I don't think a dealer would do the swap due to liability concerns but you might want to check with your local shop.

    Hello.

I heard a while back that there is a device that you can connect to the accord 04 navi system to play DVDs and watch TV. Where do I find info on this and how hard is it?

    Has anyone done this?
  • figelwumpfigelwump Member Posts: 34
rivermise, try searching the forums on vtec.com, believe someone posted information on how to do this.
  • oregonboyoregonboy Member Posts: 1,650
I just purchased a leather steering wheel off Ebay for a 94-96 accord. Does anyone here know how difficult it is to change wheels? Is this something a talented amateur can handle, or should I take it to a dealer?

My main concern is getting the airbag cover off and removing/reinstalling the airbag. (It is an explosive device, ya know)

Can Anyone recommend a good window tint shop in the Fort wayne, IN area? I just bought an 04 Accord V-6, 6-speed coupe with black interior. I want to find an excellent shop to install quality window tint such as Llumar. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
    Thank You.
  • calbriancalbrian Member Posts: 2
I was wondering if anyone on the forums knows of a quick and easy way to get rid of the pinkish tint in the 03-04 Accord Coupe Taillights?

I like the look of the stock lights except for the pinkish tint, I would be interested if anyone has found out a way to make it clear, or knows of a guide on the web that explains the process.

No offense to anyone who has them..but...I definately do want a set of those cheesy altezza aftermarket lenses ;) but at the same time I cannot stand the pink!

If anyone has pics of 03-04 Coupe taillights and have eliminated the pink and replaced it with clear please post pics. :)

I've had the same problem with my Honda Foglights. My car is less than a year old and both my foglights are cracked. The thing I don't understand is why they are breaking so easily. I don't tailgate and it's 90% freeway driving.

Is this something that I should talk to my Honda dealer about covering under warranty? I did have them install them when before I picked up the car.

I'm going to try the 3M film also.
  • anonymouspostsanonymousposts Member Posts: 3,802
www.handa-accessories.com has a sale on the Accord fog lights. Last time I was on their site they had them for $95 per side.
  • jebinc1jebinc1 Member Posts: 198
Just checked handa and the price is $67 for a set of premium floor mats. Did I miss the sale?
  • firemann1firemann1 Member Posts: 14
    wisaacson,
Can't hurt to try the dealer to see if they will replace the foglight lamps. I'd be suprised if the dealer replaces the lamps. However, very much worth a try.
My take is the foglight lamp glass breaks pretty easily because it is quite thin (and it is glass).

Good luck with the 3M film.
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
Got it from eBay and it fits perfectly.

Well-conceived product, too, with the vendor/maker anticipating issues like high-speed peeling (a strip-lock clamps the bra to the hood edge).

It won't scratch the paint unlike the common leatherette bra; install and un-install are very easy.

Next to the clear 3M film, this is probably the best hood finish protector. On a black car, you'd probably not mind having it on most of the time.

Only downside is theft; while fussy to steal, it can still be ripped off in a minute or two by the determined petty thief.
  • ken972ken972 Member Posts: 162
Looks like you did. I was on that site last night and they were on sale still. This morning they are back to the regular price.
