Whitesburgh, Ga. - The town that has more gas stations per capita than any other town or city has around these parts....

The Mr. Patels (4 of them now) and the Mr. Bubbas (3 of them) are having a busy time lowering prices.!

One of the Mr. Patels was in first place for lowest price on 87 octane yesterday. $ 1.27.

One of the Mr. Bubbas is dealing 93 octane premium at $ 1.44.

If you are lazy,,, then the Mr. Bubba who runs the "Full Service" station will pump your gas, check your oil, and do a tire pressure check for $ 1.42 per gallon, 87 octane.
(If you are nice lookin' and wear a short skirt, then he'll probably ask if you would like your front windshield washed... : ^ )).

AAahahaha! (give me a break pf)

San Francisco, Chevron station opposite SF STate College, $2.29/gal for premium, $1.99 regular, $1.88 diesel.
  • nippononlynippononly Member Posts: 12,555
from me in Marin, just north of SF, still $2.09 for regular at the 76. Same price at Chevron last night when I filled up. Arco is back down to $1.87 however.

We certainly did not see the dramatic drop in the last few weeks that the rest of the country did. Our prices did dip $0.10-0.20 though.

stepped out the door later this afternoon and discovered that several local stations, the Chevron and 76 included, had lowered their prices by more than a dime! Yay!

So...Chevron now at $1.89 for regular, and 76 at $1.99.

Passed through Martinsburg, WV and saw $1.49 for 87. 17 miles away in Sharpsburg, MD and close to the Antietam battlefield prices were as high as $1.57.

Just 2 hours north to get back to $1.29

In a ruthless move, the newest Mr. Patel in Whitesburg, Ga. lowers his 87 octane to $1.22. Before you know it, the Mr. Bubbas who are left in the market will probably sell-out to Mr. P's cousins....and move to Alabama where prices are about a nickel to a dime or so higher....

    Down to $1.229 for 87, $1.319 for 89 and $1.459 for 91.

I'm in the Cedar Park area (Austin, Tx) too. Try the stations at Cypress Creek/Lakeline.

My wife got 87 for 1.199 earlier this week at the Randalls grocery (w/ the grocery discount). I got 93 for 1.299 yesterday p.m.

Ahhhh....looks like Wilcox needs to move to Tx...

Looks like I need to move to Texas too, or at least back to Columbus OH where I used to live in the 70's.

In Chicago's west suburbs (Schaumburg/Elgin area), prices aren't falling all that fast. Regular is going for $1.49--$1.59, Mid-Grade is at $1.59--$1.69 and Premium is anywhere from $1.69 to $1.89. I saw a BP station in Bartlett (about 5 miles SE of Elgin) selling regular for $1.39 earlier this week. A Mobil station across the street matched the BP, and was carrying mid-grade at $1.49, and Premium at $1.59, but those prices were gone by yesterday.

lowest in the area is once again Arco, at $1.79 per gallon regular unleaded.

The guy at the Chevron had to pull out his big '1' for the sign again: 89 dropped to $1.99. Regular still at $1.89.

0.752 per litre 2 weeks ago for Diesel fuel...

Today, 0.712! And the cashier said it would get lower again... Good. We're back to "reasonable" prices at last.

And for the first time since more than 6 months, 98 unleaded has dropped behind $1 per litre!
  • luckylouluckylou Member Posts: 308
At the corner of Cone and Courtenay regular unleaded went down to 1.29 from 1.36 the following day back to 1.36 and today Saturday up to 1.37. All this within last 6 days.

    Chevron 87 octane is $1.33

I've found that if you find a major on the same corner as a Racetrack, Speedway or other generic station, the major will compete pricewise. But go just a block or two, where only majors exist and the price can be 6 to 8 cents higher for the same brand on the same day.

Gas is back up locally; it was back up to 1.38 for 93 octane this weekend (Cedar Park, Texas).

I've also noticed a new (well, new to me) tactic. Ususally, we've got 3 grades available: 87, 89, and 93 octane. Prices are posted accordingly. But the local Citgo actually carries 4 grades: the usual 3 plus 91 octane. Of course, the 93 grade is now 'ultra' premium (or some such marketing BS). But the sign out front only list the prices for 3 grades.

So you spot what LOOKS like a good price on premium (which my car requires) only to find out after you fire up the pump that the posted price is for what I would call a 'mid-grade'.
  • ghuletghulet Member Posts: 2,564
Last time I bought gas, it was $1.659/1.759/1.859 for 87, 89, 93 octane, respectively. Sadly, this seems almost reasonable compared to a couple of months ago, when 93 was a bit over $2.00. Oh well, our cigarettes are typically in the $5.50 range, too (I don't smoke, fortunately).
  • nippononlynippononly Member Posts: 12,555
prices still gradually settling: $1.59 at the Arco, $1.81 at the Chevron and 76. All are prices for 87 octane.

My wife and I were talking about the " good old days " .
We remember back , in mid 1960's , that with every fill up you would get a set drinking glasses (4) and they would check the oil , the tires pressure, clean your windows and of course they will fill up for you , all with smile in their faces . Sohio I think that was the name of the gas station in Hamilton.Ohio. During the gas war of the 60,s and early 70,s they would also give toaster , blender , radios , same in Louisville ,Ky.
Can anyone else remember the GOD,s ??

Sort of strange here in central PA right now. The wife reports that 87 is up to $1.399 in Altoona, which typically would mean a price in the range of $1.459 here in State College. But about half the stations here are at $1.399 and the other half are at $1.359...

Regarding the good old days, I recall my Dad complaining about increasing prices and decreasing service (they stopped checking the oil)as we pulled into a station where the price had just gone from .299 to .329 for good old regular leaded gas. :)

Mt Arlington Exxon, Mt. A, NJ

    87 - $1.499
    89 - $1.619
    93 - $1.699
    diesel - $1.699

I get diesel a full 30 cents cheaper at the stations closer to work, and when yoyu'e buying 27-30 gallons a shot, that can be almost $10 per tank less.

Within 24 hours of the news that OPEC decided to keep output levels where they are, 87 jumped from $1.359 to $1.459 and $1.499 in State College, PA. I really would like a RATIONAL explanation about how and why this happens. I understand that this news has the potential to drive up prices, but news pressure UP seems to take affect immediately, while news pressure down sure takes time to hit the pumps.

at my local Chevron the gas (87) jumped overnight from $1.77 to $1.87 on Friday, and by this morning it was back down to $1.81. I wish they would regulate gas prices - I don't mind the price rising, I am just so sick of the spiking.

I filled up today in Duluth, GA (northeastern suburb of Atlanta, Gwinnett County) at a BP for $1.27/gal. I've also seen some Citgo and Chevron stations at $1.32/gal and other no-names in the $1.27 range. Didn't pay attention to other grades, but probably $.10 higher per grade as usual.

Things are bouncing around pretty good here... almost seems like a daily change. $1.35, $1.49, $1.39, $1.45, and back to $1.39 at most places now, but still a few at $1.45...

    Enough to make you dizzy!

in Laurel, Maryland, I filled up for about $1.519/gallon for 87 octane. I don't get up that way much, but gas is usually fairly cheap in that area, just like it is near my local WaWa, so if I'm in the area I try to fill up. Seems like most places around here are still 'round $1.65 a gallon, tho.

Last Saturday, I filled up in New Cumberland, PA, for something like $1.389 a gallon! I remember when I used to whine about prices like that...now they seem like a treat!
  • according2meaccording2me Member Posts: 236
I recently took a trip to the Ozarks and the prices for 87 octane along the way were: S.E.La.(Chevron) $1.35, N.La.(Chevron) $1.29, N.Ms.(Shell)$1.43, Mo.(Conoco)$1.42-$1.45.

Once in Missouri (Branson) it appears your in Conoco/Phillips 66 country.

Ever since the local Arts Festival bump up on prices in early July (they say they don't bump up prices when a lot of visitors are going to be coming into the area... uh huh), prices have been steady in the $1459 to $1.499 range for 87

One can score "Cowboys" regular for $1.28/gal.

"Exxon" regular can be found for as little as $1.34/gal.

$1.48 through $1.54 is the premium price ranges...

Hey Flyer.... how about sending some of that cheaper gas our way!

Prices seems to remain about anywhere from $1.42 9/10 to $1.49 9/10 . In the summer the oil companies blamed the tourist for supply and demand . In the fall they blamed the influx on the snow birds .
Is not their fault that they are so corrupt , so greedy , I presumed that are us the consumer to be blamed for it.
I am quite sure they blame us for the high prices ,crying all the way to the bank.
