This dealer agreed to give me 1k over invoice (30,449+515+1000=31,964). I couldn't negiotiate more and he is not willing to do so. Is there any thing I can do to make this deal happened around 500 over invoice? Any suggestions?

Of course you can! It says so right on the sample contract that you should have received with the your paperwork. You have 60 days to cancel for full refund. You then have plenty of time (some say one year, some say two) to buy warranty from another dealer at normal price.

The above answer is wrong... If you cancel a hondacare Extended Warranty, you CANNOT purchase it again on the same vehicle. This is spelled out VERY clearly in the complete contract that is sent to you from hondacare about two weeks after you sign the original contract.
You are allowed to cancel the extended warranty for a full refund for up to 60 days after purchase(30 days in NY), however if you do so you can't buy a new one.

The Monmouth price sounds good if you are willing to drive and if they have it in stock. Make sure to ascertain all fees--"documentation," "credit inquiry," "vehicle protection [VIN etching])" and get rid of those you can.

Do a search here for the dealers that offer the best price on Honda's extended warranty. There is no requirement that you must buy it from the selling dealer.
I am curious about your statement that you have 2.9% financing locked in until March. Guess I wasn't aware one could lock an auto finance rate that long.
I am now actively looking for the Touring Model with NAV & RES (said dealer is not budging until he sees a competitive quote by others) but have yet to see an "equivalent" competitive quote...allowing for upscaling! Anyone out there seen a really good quote (or purchased) a Touring With NAV/RES? Best I saw was $37+K.Am willing to travel to get the vehicle...for the right price.
What is the latest word out there? Wait for prices to lower - meaning, dealers to negotiate aggresively? Would appreciate feedback.

If, on the other hand, they offer the Extended Warranty to cover ENGINE components (Alternator, Water Pump, Timing belts,Power Steering, A/C components, cylinders, pistons etc.) then you are on to a good thing. Unfortunately, almost ALL of them don't offer this since they know there will be a huge number of claimants...especially after 70k miles or so. I work on cars quite a bit & am able to work on almost all engine components and having owned nine vehicles (all for at least 80k miles plus)I have had only one transmission (5-speed gearbox & clutch job) that I carried out.... it was an auction purchase (Rover Sterling) when I was a near-penniless student! Most modern transmissions are tough & should last a good 150k miles. Just ask yourself how many failed transmission stories have you heard from Toyota/Honda? Interestingly enough the water pump on my '96 Toyota Previa van gave out at 38,000 miles - 2k miles after the warranty expired! An extended powertarin warranty would not cover this. So, just be wary of what you are paying for! Summary: Extended warranty on engines are an excellent idea and Extended warranty on powertarins are a waste of money...in my opinion! People just make the mistake of thinking that they are covering their whole vehicle with extended warranties. Read the print carefully & decide for yourself.
I signed and sales contract two days prior to 2.9% expired and they were to get me the van through a swap the following week. but for whatever reason they couldn't do it and my van is only being produced on Feb 25 and I'll have it two weeks after that. but they haven't really told me anything about not being able to honor the 2.9%, hopefully it'll still be there in March.

Jeff, I'm afraid you're the one who's wrong! Here's what my HondaCare contract states:
"A refund shall terminate this contract. If cancelled, coverage cannot be reinstated"
The operating word is "reinstated"; meaning bringing back to life the same contract. There is NOTHING here that would prohibit you from entering into a similar contract by buying Honda Care again.
Names of dealerships that charge reasonable prices for Honda Care have been posted here numerous times. I purchased 7 yr/100,000 miles from Pohanka Honda of Salisbury, MD for $1,075. Ask to speak to their finance manager (a lady) about extended warranty. They'll transfer you to the right person. Edmunds prohibits posting names.
That's always a good advice. My advice is to buy only Honda Care warranty. It's very affordable: 7 yr/100,000 miles with $0 deductible for $1,075 compared to similar coverage from Warranty Direct for $1,530!
Any Honda Care warranty covers all of the components you mention: engine, A/C, pumpts, etc. It's quite comprehensive and it's an "exclusionary" policy (lists excluded parts, instead of listing included ones), which is what one should buy.
By the way, I had both a failed manual transmission and a blown cylinder on a Honda Accord that was less than 7 years and 100,000 miles. Repairs cost me close to $3,000.
I think it just depends on whether you can get an additional 500 off. I went into the showroom, very resolute to walk out if he did not come close to invoice. I actually got up, put my jacket and started walking out, but of-course he got me to stop, wait and then wait some more, each time taking 100 to 200off. I think around the 4th time or so, I got tired, and agreed. So much for my resolve.
I too was worried about other fees like excessive doc fees etc. but they were good. Nothing sneaky once I agreed to the price, and it was a good experience from then on.

If you really want to wait for a better deal, I suspect there will be a number of demo RES/NAVs for sale around June. It seems that Honda has given each dealer (in my area, at least) a RES/NAV demo (most got theirs in December), which they are prohibited from selling for 6 months. I have no idea what kind of break you would get on a demo at that time; perhaps by then production will have caught up with demand and the dealers will be content to keep the demos until August/September.
Even though Ody's are the going minivan, I was not willing to pay anything close to the MSRP. Even $1500 off seemed like a rip off. I saved close to double that.
My recommendation...if the dealers are unwilling to come down right now...just be patient for awhile.

After seeing your post of last week, I also tried very hard to get the 500 + invoice deal. However, I could not succeed (over phone though) and eventually walked out (went to another dealer) of the deal.
Philadelphia Honda people would not budge from the invoice plus 1000 dollars. When I told him someone from the NG had got the 500 + invoice deal, he said it was 31948 - trade in value and trade in was 500. So, it looked like it was 31448 (500 + invoice).
Anyway, thanks to you I found out that we could get it for that price.

I know. But plenty of dealerships are willing to accept $25-$50 over this "cost". I put the word "cost" in quotes because we really don't know whether this trully is the dealer's cost or if there's also a certain "kickback" from Honda for every policy sold (kind of like dealer holdback).
Additionally - how do I find the residual value for the vehicle after 3 yrs/15K miles? Does the dealer give me that value, or is it negotiable up front?

Purchased (on order) an EX-L RES, OTD price of $31,670.39 ($500.00 over invoice).
Breakdown:
1. Sale price: $29,487.00 (invoice + $500.00 + destination fee).
2. State tax (6% in Kentucky): $1750.14
3. Licensing fee: $25.00
4. Transfer fee: $9.00
5. Dealer title charge: $9.85
6. Document preparation: $389.40 (offset this unconscionable fee by insisting on cargo tray & leather-wrapped steering wheel being thrown in [$389.40 doc fee – $175 in accessories = $214.40 doc fee] EXORBITANT Doc fees should not be tolerated!!!).
7. Final (OTD) balance due: $31,670.39
My tactics used on-site (simply tell the truth you DON’T NEED the product):
1. Announced, from the outset, I’m an “invoice buyer; if other folks are paying close to MSRP, that’s their problem; let’s talk invoice.”
2. “I don’t need the van now; I am happy to wait for oil prices (or Honda’s increased production, etc., etc., etc.) to slow your sales and/or at least reduce the price.”
3. “I am in discussions with other dealerships.”
4. “I think I’d like to confer with my spouse tonight unless you can make an offer here and now that we can’t refuse.”
From the first, my experience with the dealer was a good one. They struck me as candid and curt. If anything, I was a bit underhanded insofar as I asked the sales manager to excuse himself at some point so that I could ‘confer with my wife’ over his $500.00 + invoice offer (brought him down from his original offer of $1000.00 over invoice). I then phoned a neighboring Honda dealership then and there to see if they could SUBSTANTIALLY beat the deal I had in hand. I told the competing dealership I was sitting at ______ dealership and had, in hand, $500 + invoice on an EXL RES and that they had five minutes to call me back to talk me out of it.
They predictably called back w/in a few minutes and stated that they “ could do that.”
“What? What do you mean you can do that? You’ll match it?! Who cares if you can match it?! Don’t you mean that you can do better?!” [Pause customer rep runs to sales manager].
Seconds later: “ we’ll do $400.00 + invoice.”
“Thank you; good day.” Click. I wasn’t going to unseat myself for $100.00. At that point, it was invoice or the deal in hand was going through. Thanks to all for posting on this site. All contributors helped me immensely, so I merely wanted to give a little something back. Any Kentucky area folks looking for a similar deal, I have your dealership. Folks who fared significantly better than I, more power to you!! Happy Hunting to All!
In addition to the cargo tray, a leather steering wheel--and NOT a mere wrap--was the bargain we struck to offset the lofty ($389) doc fee our dealer charged ; in all, the deal was EXL RES w/cargo tray & leather steering wheel for (OTD) $31,670.39. Not sure how much the leather wheel runs...anyone know? Sales manager suggested approx. $300-$400.
Then why are you there? We hear that old line pretty often.
My wife and I 'wanted' a Sienna. The local Toyota dealers interpreted that as 'needed' a Sienna.
They were wrong.
Thankfully, some of the local Honda dealers correctly understood that, indeed, we didn't NEED their product. They became much more competitive.

I'm happy to restate my key point/bargaining chip in case I wasn't clear : I did not NEED (i.e. require) the mini-van. In fact, if Honda stopped producing vehicles this instant such that my bargained-for van was no more, life would go on. What's more...I'd somehow find happiness. Surprised?!! Does that shock you?!! You're selling wheeled vehicles sir, not crack.
