Easy guys! Missourians are conservatives who don't have impure thoughts! Just ask John Ashcroft. ;)

OTOH, if those outlets were in Texas, or better yet, Nevada...

Man, first time I've reached $30 filling up my '92 Sentra (I usually fill it when there's 1/4 tank left, this time I let it go to 1/8, and gave it 9.2 gallons). $3.43 for midgrade stuff, which does control the engine's lurches a bit.

Now that I commute through an industrial area with lots of red lights, I only get 27mpg. I miss cruising at 85mph and getting 35mpg.

I'll admit to a faraway look in my eyes when I first read the name on the sign. But, yes, Missourians are a Bible Belt sort of people and my wife and I were just temporary travelers staying in the Ozarks for a while so I didn't feel like spending much time with that subject. Perhaps a quick quip was made to my wife and then we moved to another subject. :D

    I agree, it's a weird name.

Oh, gas prices in hot and sunny Pocatello, Idaho, today? How about $2.82 for 87 no-lead? Remember to pull off the road when talking on your cell-phones, OK? Can't we make using those things illegal while driving? Use it from your rig but not while you're driving your car. It would be a shame to lose someone to an accident when the topic being discussed on the cell phone was someone's favorite Mudvayne song, or something as unimportant as that. Name your unimportant subject, fill in the blank and please talk about it in your car while not operating the motor vehicle.

Remember when we didn't have cell phones? We were surviving just fine, weren't we?

    Weren't we? :surprise:

Long ago in Eastern Cincinnati there was a new type shop including food with gas. It was called "Donuts and Gas." Didn't sound like a good omen for their food quality!

Why do you people keep bating me? I can only show so much constraint yo know... :P

    To stay on topic:

    Local shell (work): $2.92/3.05/3.15
    Local Jewel (home): $2.91/3.01/3.11
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
    Steady at 3.15/3.25/3.35

On a positive note, I topped off the C43...I had driven 130 miles in 2 weeks, and it took 5.6 gallons. That's a 23.xx mpg average, not bad for mainly city driving in a 300+ hp car.

    Shell $2.549

What I don't get is how come the largest market for gasoline in the country, which is right next to half a dozen major ports... We're talking about California...

It has the most expensive gas in the whole country. Not Montana, not someplace in the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, but perhaps the single biggest place in the country in terms of consumption.

Something's really wrong with this picture.

$3.54 for regular in Pasadena, CA.
$1 more than the above post, out in the middle of the Midwest.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...must think Californians have very deep pockets. Enron placed a big whammy on them a few years ago with the cost of electricity.

$2.76-$2.80 for watered down slop called 86'.

    Actually fell...

    Sunoco Regular is now $2.91
    Silver is $3.01
    "ultra?"93 is $3.11

Sunoco used to have a grade called "Economy" at 86 octane. Instead of a pipe running to an underground tank, it probably led to the local sewage treatment plant for this stuff.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
Yesterday saw one station at a convenience store had dropped to $2.85 for 87

    No others had followed yet.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
my cars belch on 86' but they are very old and aren't collectors like yours lemko. ;) They get brand "X" :P

BTW- I think it's raw sewage, maybe that will be a alternative fuel topic for another forum. ;)

Hey rock, you need to get down our way sometime. There are 6 stations within about 5 miles of where I work that have Unleaded at $2.59 for unleaded reg (87).

A Go Mart, H-E-B grocery, 2 Shell stations, a Murphy USA (wal-mart), and a Citgo.
  • iluvmysephia1iluvmysephia1 Member Posts: 7,709
here in Pocatello, ID, is still selling 87 no-lead for $2.82/gal.

Heard a rumour that prices may have actually hit the highest they're gonna get for the summer now, nationally.

We'll believe that when we see it, eh?

A national newspaper is looking to interview consumers who are changing their holiday plans because of the high prices in gas (ex. driving closer to home or driving, versus flying). Please send an e-mail to ctalati@edmunds.com no later than Thursday, May 25, 2006 by 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST containing your daytime contact information and a brief sentence or two on how you’ve changed your plans.

    $3.06 in Meriden at Shell.

I was in Utah last week, gas overall was lower than CT prices, although 85 octane is the low-grade as opposed to 87 in other places due to altitude:

    Park City: $2.97
Heber City: $2.75 (went up to $2.83 a couple days later)
Salt Lake City was somewhere in between, but closer to Heber prices.
Prices are for low-grade and at Conoco stations.
  • PF_FlyerPF_Flyer Member Posts: 9,372
The $2.85 appears to have worked its way to most all the stations here, one even down to $2.83, one still at $2.89

Interesting that at some premium is at $3.05, others have it at $3.15
  • explorerx4explorerx4 Member Posts: 20,723
all things considered, i'd be be willing to pay a bit more than ct prices if i was in park city for a visit. :)

I went to the gas station to top off the truck and get some fuel for the tractor and mower. Local Citgo was down a bit, to $3.019/$3.119/$3.199. I normally like to put 89 in the truck, but yesterday I took a chance and put in 87. Sometimes it'll clatter with 87, but so far so good. Probably because it already had a half-tank of 89 in it, so I'm effectively running 88? Also, it hasn't been that hot yet...
  • waiwai Member Posts: 325
    Local gas at shell is $2.99, 87, $2.09 89, $2.15 93.
Just put in VP racing fuel Streetblaze 100 Octane and mix with 91 octane gas on my VR6. Will see how it runs. Very expensive cost $48 for 5 gallon.

$2.529 around my area and it's not the cheapest. $2.469 in adjoining areas. They will raise prices drastically this morning or this evening to get ready to gouge us for the Memorial Day weekend.

I thinking I'm do for a octane booster for the ol' 98' Mustang. I've been feeding it "extra sloppy" not Joes, but sloppy gas called 86' I baught some sloppy kerosene lemko, at the Shell station off of St. Francis far N' end of Amarillo for $2.66 I think my engine has a "iron gut" to handle this stuff. I think I'm going to drop in some 91' along with a 104' booster to clean old betsy out. That stuff should work like liquid Saline :D

    Rocky.

P.S. I saw Carlisse Penn in a movie a few weeks ago, but can't remeber the movie. I believe Angalina Jolie was the star. ?

Hello from near Dayton, Ohio, home of Marathon and subsidiary Speedway gas. The supplies are controlled somehow that all stations who are supplied by a few wholesalers all have to raise their price at once to the same level. Within hours all stations will be at $2.859, including Shell and Exxon Mobile.

$.33 cents? Happy Memorial Day weekend. I predicted correctly. When they don't raise the price on Thursday or early Friday and over the weekend, they raise it early the next week for Mother's Day or Memorial Day weekend. They used to raise it drastically here for the Hamvention in the area which attracts many travelers who have to fill their tanks after they arrive and prepare to leave, but they forgot that last weekend and prices stayed "low."

That's an amazing increase. I've added Dayton to my Gasbuddy.com list of place to check. It'll be interesting to track their prices over the next several days (although apparently the higher prices haven't been logged yet; it still shows a dozen or so stations below $2.50/gallon).

    Central VA, 87:

Sheetz dropped their price 4 cents to $2.75 this morning; by late afternoon, Exxon and Citgo had followed suit (10-cent increments for the higher grades, diesel unchanged at $2.79 at Sheetz).

Closer to town, East Coast was also $2.75, down 2 cents from yesterday. Hess was $2.77 today, down 1 cent.
  • rorrrorr Member Posts: 3,630
Same here; apparently the local stations didn't get the memo to jack prices out of sight for Memorial Day.

Earlier in the week the lowest local prices were $2.59 for regular. Now, the local Go is at $2.57 and one Shell station is at $2.58. Otherwise, fairly steady.
  • waiwai Member Posts: 325
Rocky, try some VP racing fuel with >100 Octane, that will really make your Mustang fly, as my VR6 feels really good with it.
    Local gas at Chevron DE 87 $2.99, 89 $3.09, 93 $3.17
  • thatsmycallthatsmycall Member Posts: 54
    Reg steady @ $3.20
Last night on our local, story runs- there is actually a gas shortage in our area and major suppliers want to reduce usage through high prices; hmm..sounds like supply pressure.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
We don't have anything like that around here pal. Besides my Mustang is a 3.8 V-6 work car with almost 140K on the odometer.

Maybe I'll drop some in the tank of my future new car if they sell it in Amarillo. This should be a suggestion to lemko. ;) Maybe he can go from Kerosene to real Gasoline. :D

    Rocky

P.S. Gas in Dumas is $2.69 for 86' watered down bug residue

Amarillo- $2.66 for waste treatment water 86' :P

Prices in my area dropped slightly (.05) to the $2.87 (Shell, BP, Mobil) but in some places it actually went up by the same amount (Speedway, Citgo) - wierd :confuse:

    Happy Memorial Day everyone.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I hearsd that same story. My theory is that the oil companies see the west coast as being full of money, and want to gouge a little more through some market manipulation. I mean, it's not like they answer to anyone. There are several refineries in this area, I would love to see this "shortage" compared to other locales.

Today metro Seattle is 33 cents above the national average. A month ago it was 5 cents above the average...

My local Chevron jerked up to 3.19, while it had been sitting at 3.15 for a few weeks.

$3.35 for the cheap stuff. I've been using midgrade though, to minimize my car's incessant lurching at low speeds.

So this morning I spent $35 on 9.9 gallons. 27mpg in the city, pretty bad.

:) It's hard admit, but our paying $2.65/gl. for fillup on Thursday was pretty darn good! West Ga.

Some states are proposing to reduce fuel taxes to "help" the situation for us...ahahahaha what a joke! hello?

'proposed' is a long way from implemented. ct did the same thing last year. bought some time, i guess.
