I ordered my SD CC f-350, 4x4,v-10 srw, 3.73 rear end and auto trans. on 2/2/99. what are you getting for gas mileage running empty on the highway. I am also curious about after market K&N air filter system and Cat back exhaust systems. I would like to improve the performance of the V-10 without spending Thousands of dollars.
What is your opinion of adding a transmission cooler. I will be towing around town with hills and in the summer with temperatures in the mid 90's. I believe keeping the transmission fluid cool is the life of the transmission. I would appreicate response from anyone reading this post. Thanks!
As for exhaust systems -- you get what you pay for. Where do you live and how long do you plan to keep the truck? The Banks system is $2.5k installed, but its all high-grade stainless steel. You can get a custom system put on for $200 at your local muffler shop -- it'll sound nice, but will probably sap power and may rust out in a short amount of time.
Thanks for the input. I read about the Banks electronic modules for the transmission and the air to fuel ratio controls. Please post the address or phone number for Banks products. I will install a transmission cooler. I live in Russellville Arkansas, it is hilly and get hot in the summer months. It is not uncommon to reach the 100's in July, August or September.
Thanks again for your input.

The Flaps & Anti-Sails are pretty nice.
I wasn't looking for one, so I didn't pay attention, but I did an infoseek on aluminum+truck+boxes and many of those people also had the fuel tank.
most of them have a vertical section that sits in front of the toolbox, thereby pushing the toolbox back 6".

I will be stopping by the local dealer this friday to see about how long it will take to install.
to their super duty? If so, how's your
experience?
i have not been back here in a while since I learned about www.ford-diesel.com. It has a lot of great stuff. I know I sound like a commercial but I am just a user. There are SD mechanics and ford engineers and truck designers. I know that Ford watches the pages and forums as well. The bed hight has been discussed for a long time and the first fix remove the 4 inch blocks was redone and they now put in 2 inch blocks bt need to change out the brake lines (too short). A lot of info on turbo bolts falling out on the Turbo Diesel. It is not only PSD but lots of V10 guys and 5vr info as well. Check it out. You will like it. There are sections on Cat delete and chip performance. How to fix the driver side convex mirror lift kits, oil discussion(way too heated) oh well. I log on every day and learn something as well.
