Comments: The only manual 335 or 328 xDrive that I could find within 500 miles, and this car was on dealer's lot for ~9 months. Are manual transmissions losing their appeal?
I wished that the xDrive $1,840 f2d incentive also applied to coupes this month, but the lease incentive on this car was doubled.
Salesman thought that BMWF support for leasing 2009 3s will be stopped at the end of this month.
I was surprised that the 2009 model numbers on trunk no longer had the 'x', Salesman indicated that BMW wants to refer to cars not as 328 xi, but rather 328i with xDrive as the xDrive designation is now on the front fender.
Salesman indicated that 90 days before the end of the lease, BMW will appraise the market and will adjust the purchase option price downward if necessary. Other than that, was told that the purchase option price was non-negotiable!???
Finally, was told that if I wanted to within 60 days of the end of the lease, the dealer would take repossession of the car, certify it as BMW CPO, and would offer it back to me at about $3,000 over the purchase option price. The CPO would add 2 yrs and 50,000 miles to the warranty. Do other dealers do this?
can you pls let me know what are the lease terms for 36 mth and 48 mth, 12 k per yr mileage for 2009 BMW 328i Convertible? Also pls share the comparable figures for 2010 model also to determine whether I should buy 2009 or 2010. Need to buy this for my wife and any prompt responses would be appreciated since need to get back to the dealer by day after tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
I'm in Texas. I purchased the Tire and Wheel package for 5 years at $1,188.00. Expensive yes. However, the plan covers BOTH tire and wheel full replacement cost if necessary. These are pure alloy (very soft) sport wheels and are not cheap if damaged. The tire is covered up to 1/32 tread wear, and the fact that they are run flats means common flats (nails, etc) call for tire replacement 100% of the time. There is no spare in the trunk of a 335i - so, they kind of got me on that one as well. More than that, it provides road side coverage and towing on year 5 after the 4 year 50K warranty (w roadside) has expired. Remaining contract is refundable pro-rata if I sell the car.
Searched two ways: First was to go to bmwusa.com to locate the dealers that were within 500 miles (a day's drive) from me. Where I live, that included New Mexico, Colorado and West Texas. From there, used the links provided to search the dealer's new inventory using the keyword "manual."
After I got only one real lead, I went to my local (actually 70 miles away) BMW dealer and asked the sales manager to also search for a manual in the area, and he came up with the the same results. In the past, BMW dealers would like to have a deposit before they do a vehicle search, but with the economy in the state it is most dealers will now do a search without asking for a deposit.
Hey - did that come with a group of coverage by a company called IAS? I received a similar offer for paint sealent, interior protection, roadside coverage/towing, windshield repair/replacement, door dent repair....
If so, did you haggle with them to bring the price down?
new_stl, u should be able to get both incentives. its actually a rate of 0.9 not 1.9. don't let the dealer hold back that extra point. the 1840 credit is for automatic transmission on the 328i and all wheel drive for the 328xi
I just placed an order for a 2010 335i coupe due to be built this month with expected delivery around Nov / Dec 2009. Does anyone know what the new financing rates are going to be?
Finally, was told that if I wanted to within 60 days of the end of the lease, the dealer would take repossession of the car, certify it as BMW CPO, and would offer it back to me at about $3,000 over the purchase option price. The CPO would add 2 yrs and 50,000 miles to the warranty. Do other dealers do this?
I'm sure any dealer would love to take back you lease car, CPO it and sell it back to you for $3000 over purchase option price! If they could do this with all of their lease returns, they'd never have to sell anything else. Why not buy an extended warranty, avoid more sales taxes, and keep an extra grand for yourself?
This changes things if power AND economy matter to you. $4500 clunker $'s back, $4500 BMW $'s back, $2100 off MSRP and $900 tax credit. Who could resist?
Didn't realize BMW North America was offering this incentive still. When does it end? Also thought cash for clunckers ended... And the $2100 off MSRP in addition to the other incentives? Where can I get this deal? :confuse:
I just ordered a 2010 335i cp also. BMWUSA.com does not have interest rates listed for the 335i yet but the 5 series looks to have 2.9%. Edmunds shows the current incentive is 3.9% available through beginning of November. To early to tell what they are going to be at Delivery time.
I am looking for a 2009 328 coupe with automatic, prem, heated seats, bluetooth and IPod adapter. 3 years 15K miles per year.
1) I've contacted a few dealers and received some ballpark numbers including...$6600 down with $435 per month. I have been unable to have them send me the exact numbers (Residual, MF etc)Does this down payment sound extremely high?? I am comparing this to the recent ad and understand my specs are somewhat higher but $6600 down??
2) I've also working on receiving a quote from a Lease Broker (still in process) I've been told that the residual would be for 44%. Does this seem low?
What is the residual value for 36 months 15K? What can i expect on a monthly and total down payment? Also, can anyone recommend a respectable lease broker?
I was going to take advantage of the 1.9% interest rate last month and pull the trigger on a 335i Coupe. Dealer offered me $1k below invoice on anything he had on the lot and invoice on anything he had to trade for. I was pretty specific about what I wanted so they ended up bringing something in. After finding some issues with that car we agreed they would order me a 2010 exactly the way I wanted it and give it to me at invoice. Good deal I think?, except now I am in wait mode for 8-10 weeks and still not sure what the 2010 interest rates at the time of delivery are going to be.
Doesn't look like any changes from '09 to '10 model and invoice prices are exactly the same.
Exactly my thoughts when I asked the salesman when I picked up the car, since I was offered the extended 2 yr/50K warranty for $2100 as a dealer add-on. His response was that in certifying the car as CPO, they usually replace all the tires and the CPO extra cost is folded into the financing. The extra $900 the dealer will charge for CPO would probably cover the cost of the new tires.
My greater concern was I was told that at the end of the lease the purchase option price is not negotiable. By the dealer reposessing the car, they could then negotiate the price if I decide to buy it. This sounds contrary to everything I read about exercising the purchase option at the end of a lease, but maybe BMW does things differently?
just want to thanks edmunds.com, car_guy and kyfdx for all their amazing help.
got a quick question: i'm new to the whole car leasing (car buying) situation and wanted some insight regarding price realated to invoice and money factor.
whats is bmw finacial best money factor rate for a 36 month 12k lease for a 328 i sedan 2009?
also, i live in LA, and i know its a competitive market. What do you think is the best price in relation to invoice to be expected to negotiate on lease? that is is 500 over the best price right now in souther ca? 1000 below invoice?
I have one offer from a dealer willing to go 300 under invoice with a .00235 money factor.
Any advice from car_guy or anyone else would be GREATLY APPRECAITED!!!
actually $300 under invoice not $300/month... sorry for any confusion... i'm looking at how much UNDER invoice dealers are willing to go given car sales, the economy, competition, and dealer/manufacture incentives.
Any help/insight/knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, what is the best way to try find out which dealers would have a 335d with sport/prem/nav/comfort? I would like to take advantage of the $4.5k offer but I do not want to order a new vehicle due to the delay of the delivery. Is there any online way of doing that other than going to 100's of dealer websites and doing individual searches?
good question, davidk12. If you find two of them with sport package let me know. It would be quite the upgrade from Jetta TDI, and worth considering even though the 335d is not available with manual transmission.. I wonder about 3 series and snow-wheels & ice+snow tires, would need those for sure.
To answer your question, I do not know of a way to do the search without using a dealership's presumably-private computer system/network. Are they built in southcarolina or euro-land? Maybe one could be ordered/delivered within a couple months and the $4.5k would be in effect at delivery time too?
Hi Davidk12, I think you're likely going to be out of luck getting a 335d spec'd that way off the lot. The car that was sent to the dealers as their launch car (every dealer got one) was a very stripped Barbera red/beige leatherette with heated seats as the only option. Even that was a $45k car. Second point. A lot of people, including me, thought like you. I wound up ordering a 2010 335d at $1250 over invoice, and then the $4500 ecocredit off that. To get the ecocredit on a 2010 it had to meet ordering and delivery deadlines, and the dealer basically had to have a 335d build slot to put your order and specs into. Not sure if it's even still possible to find a dealer with build slots. Hope that helps
I currently lease a 2007 x3. It is an amazing trunk and I am loathe to part with it. But the lease is up in 2 months and the buyout is not favorable.
I have been offered the following by my local dealer(who I also leased the x3 from):
2009 335xdrive (dealer loaner car)
~9200 miles
Premium package, cold weather package, ipod/USB, satillite radio for 1 year, Auto trans.
Titanium Silver with Black interior.
I am told the car is in perfect condition.
Lease deal: $450/mo including tax. $2300 down which no security deposit.
3 yrs, 12k/yr.
So I am going to be giving in the X3 and forgo the last 2 months of my lease to get the 335.
The price of the new 335 leases are several hundred dollars more based on my research. I did have some concern over the millage on the car, and the fact that I may have to purchase tires for the car b4 the lease is up(which I didn't have to do for the x3- prob. saved me about a grand).
The car has a warranty up to 50k miles so everything should be covered.
Should I have any concern here with the millage? I have spoken to other non-affiliated BMW sales consultants and they have told me the deal is a steal and a no-brainer.
I purchased a 2008 328i Coupe, which was a "demo" car and had 12k miles on it. This car was never titled.. so it qualified for 0.9% APR at the time (like a new car). The MSRP was $44.5k with premium, sport, park control, etc my sale price was $32.5k.
The reason why I give you that explination is that if your offer is the same, to me it seems like a great deal. What you have to be ready for: the in-service date already had kicked in so my ultimate service was approx 10 months short as is the warranty.. .since it's not a "used" car it doesn't qualify for CPO extension.
All in all, there was no way I was going to get a 2008 328i coupe with all my features for $32.5k... closer to $39k... so for me, the extra miles didn't matter as the $ saved and .09% apr.
Hey all, hoping for some advice. Found a - Certified Pre-Owned BMW 328XI - Automatic Trans - 31k miles (originally titled 02/07) - looks to be pretty basic (no navi, heated seats, etc.), but still has all the bones of the bmw (sunroof, pwr everything, leather seats, etc)
talked it down to $25,500 (pre-tax, title, etc). it's located several states away though, so i'd probably have to fly out and look/drive it back ($200 flight+gas for the drive back), or ship it here (~$700).
(1) - is this a good deal?? (2) - never bought a used car or a car from another state before. is it worth trekking halfway across the country to check it out or is it "safe" to buy/ship if the car is Certified Pre-Owned?
In general, I have heard one can get a brand new BMW 10-15% off the MRSP. How much lower price one should offer on a used BMW 3 series?
In my area BMW 328i, according to Edmund is worth around $30K but similarly equipped and mileages on a used BMW, dealer is asking around $24K to $29K. What is wrong here?
How does diesel engine of 335d sound? Does it has same rumbling noise of gasoline engine? I have heard diesel cars are lot more noisy at least that was my impression from VW Jetta.
I just received the following lease. This appears to be a good deal. I didn't put any money down except for the normal inception fees which was around $1200 (bank acquisition fees and DMV fees). I received around $5,000 cap cost reduction which was made up of around $3K of rebates and $2K to get the car off the lot due to high inventory). Does this sound okay to anyone else?
Monthly payments: $525 Money down: ZERO (besides acquisition fees, dmv fees, etc.) Lease terms: 36 months with 10K per month. Model: 328xi coupe AWD SULEV Sport Package Premium Package Cold Weather Navigation

This sounds to me like a good deal if the lease is for 10k miles/year, and an outstanding deal if for 10k miles/month. I am also assuming that the cap reduction was $5000 off the MSRP. For my recent lease, I received a cap reduction of $5500 off MSRP on a similarly equipped 328xi. On 2009 3-series, most dealers are at invoice or a bit below below before any BMW FS incentives
You may want to check the Money Factor in the lease, because there are many ways it can be used to increase the monthly lease payment while lowering the drive-off costs. For example, the MF currently on this car is 0.00135, but BMW FS allows dealers to add up to 0.0004 to this number. The more the dealer adds, the less down payment they would require. Also, you could forgo paying an initial security deposit if you agree to increase the MF by 0.00015.
Did I get a good deal? I am worried about the upcoming depreciation in 3 weeks! 2009 BMW 335i w/ AWD (x-drive) Options: Cold Weather Premium Automatic +Dealer installed Ipod interface ($520) +Window tint +all weather mats, cargo liner Total price $46000 even +TTL etc Anyone have an idea what kind of depreciation this will take in 12-24 months from now?
We are also interested in a 2007 CPO 328xi to take advantage of BMW's 0.9% finance offer. Could you let us know where is the dealership and if possible, their name?
Hmm, we are kind of lost in searching CPO as well. Could you share your experience like which website?
I have no issues with the sound coming from the 335d... I grew up in mother's diesel MBZ which was loud (good as a kid because you knew when mom was coming around the bend).
I love this car... just wish it was a station wagon.
Thanks to all who read this. Headed out to dealer tomorrow to see this car:
2009 328xi Space Gray with Black Leather Premium and Climate Packages IPOD adapter and smartphone integration (won't use either) 17 inch wheels Dealer courtesy car with 7,000 miles
MSRP $43,700 Edmunds TMV (assuming no mileage): $39,841 Dealer's over the phone offer: $37,850
What should my offer be after the test drive, where should I end up?
Also, will the warranty begin the day I purchase or has it already begun to toll?
I wouldn't make an offer on this car. You can probably get a brand new 2010 equipped the same way for not much more than that asking price. The MSRP will be lower. Good luck.
We're interested in buying a CPO 2007 335i. Considering it's already mid-Oct, do you think there will be a big price different between now and Jan 2010 (the next model year)? Thanks!

WOW! My local dealer has four 328's left (all white over beige) and he is only willing to go down to invoice. I told him I thought he was nuts, but now I know he's just a thief.

If so, did you haggle with them to bring the price down?
True car lists an all-wheel drive customer incentive of 1840. BMW financing is running a special rate of 1.9 on this model as well.
Can the two be combined? What is the "f2d" incentive mentioned in post #10160 by uncmo96 on September 7th?
Thx all for the help!

talked it down to $25,500 (pre-tax, title, etc). it's located several states away though, so i'd probably have to fly out and look/drive it back ($200 flight+gas for the drive back), or ship it here (~$700).
(1) - is this a good deal??
(2) - never bought a used car or a car from another state before. is it worth trekking halfway across the country to check it out or is it "safe" to buy/ship if the car is Certified Pre-Owned?
thx in advance
In my area BMW 328i, according to Edmund is worth around $30K but similarly equipped and mileages on a used BMW, dealer is asking around $24K to $29K. What is wrong here?

Anyone have an idea what kind of depreciation this will take in 12-24 months from now?
Thanks!
We are also interested in a 2007 CPO 328xi to take advantage of BMW's 0.9% finance offer. Could you let us know where is the dealership and if possible, their name?
Hmm, we are kind of lost in searching CPO as well. Could you share your experience like which website?
Thank you so much!
Most people 24 months from now IMO will be looking for the 2010 1/2 mid year refresh if they are in the market for a used 10.
I love this car... just wish it was a station wagon.
2009 328xi
Space Gray with Black Leather
Premium and Climate Packages
IPOD adapter and smartphone integration (won't use either)
17 inch wheels
Dealer courtesy car with 7,000 miles
MSRP $43,700
Edmunds TMV (assuming no mileage): $39,841
Dealer's over the phone offer: $37,850
What should my offer be after the test drive, where should I end up?
Also, will the warranty begin the day I purchase or has it already begun to toll?

other incredible deals out there to be had.prior till this past wed of this week there was a dealer incentive for bmw cars $1840 to unload 09 cars. on wednesday of this week, that dealer incentive was increased another $3500. therefore there is currently a dealer incentive of $5340 to move 2009 cars. dealers do not have to pass this incentive onto customers. in depends on the dealer and there supply of 2009 cars.
