plain & simple, something is definitely amiss. there's not a reason this side of hell why that truck ought to be sitting in that yard for 2 weeks! reading other posts shows us that NO one is waiting anywhere near this long once the truck has been "released".
when does the dealer pay for the truck? don't they have to pay for it b4 it is shipped? if not, then when? it'd make sense that the dealer must "pre-pay" the thing or maybe they're working on some kind of "margin" percentage (which may not require a full pre-pay).
Ken just works there & therefore his hands are probably "tied". you may need to contact the owner of Gator Ford (but maybe first the sales manager (probably Ken's boss)). there HAS to be a reason that the dealer either doesn't know (which I find highly unlikely) or they've got something to hide.
few trucks in the yard doesn't appear on the surface to sound very good, either. however; they only sell trucks & if they can't get them they'll eventually of course, have nothing to sell. I wonder if these guys have paid their "shipping" bill lately?
we'll check for DORA info tomorrow (2 weeks since order... more than enough time), if it's not there then we'll give them a few more days to get it. if not then we'll have to seriously look at the scenario (and ESPECIALLY so if you've still not received your truck). tell you what, these people have a good thing going but if they don't consistently deliver as promised their business is going to get slammed because these boards spread bad news around every bit as quick as good news.
I'm not endorsing the Gale Banks system. I don't have one and have never talked to anyone that has had one. I've just been impressed with what information I've been able to find so far about the system.
Although I feel no shortage of power with my truck, I'm starting to be tempted by the increases in hp and torque that appear possible for about $1,000 installed (less expensive Stinger). If I were to install the Stinger at some point in the future and it were to work as promised, there is always the option of adding the full Power Pak later.
I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who has the Banks system or knows someone who has had it. By the way, I don't expect better mpg, regardless of what they claim. Chances are, if there are any gains, you'll negate them by using the extra power.
I've had my 2000 f250 sd cc sb 4x4 for about 4 weeks now. I can't say enough about this truck. I have been a die hard chevy man for years but this truck has won me over (so far). Having said that, my only complaint about the truck is an annoying sound, almost like an exhaust leak but it isn't, when the truck is under a load around 2100 to 2500 rpm until it shifts. I've taken it to the dealer three times and they finally called Ford to be informed that there is a technical service bulletin out on the problem (so they say). It seems the shape of the exhaust manifold creates resonance in the exhaust system and creates this sound. They then informed me that it could be a year before the engineers would have a solution available. I test drove an Excursion for my wife (V-10) and the same noise is there but not as prevalent. I have no intention of listening to this for a possible year so I dropped the truck off at Gale Banks Engineering this morning in Azuse, Ca.
Gale Banks Engineering occupies six buildings in medium sized business complex. This is a big company. I was extremely impressed with the shops. It looks like a NASCAR racing garage. In their showroom they have the headers displayed and various other products they produce. This stuff is top of the line. I know this sounds like an advertisement for them but I'm just telling it like I saw it. All their exhaust products are stainless out of a heavy gauge steel, their flanges are out of a thick stock, very impressive.
Anyway, enough with the verbal mumbo jumbo. I'm getting the Power Pack installed which consists of stainless headers, exhaust, a new style K&N filter made for them, and the Trans Command shift module. The shift module is suppose to firm up shifts under load but still change gears nicely for normal driving. The truck should be done by Friday. I'll post my opinion on the upgrades when I get the truck back if anyone is interested.
thanks for the info. do you remember where you might have seen the information on the jet-chips, or what specifically the issues were? By the way, the sound was cool......
I emailed the sales manager tonight and will follow up with a call tomorrow. It is not just my truck though. The had NO gas trucks on the lot and maybe 6 250's/350's with deisel. One was a 350 with everything on it ($46,000). Need to find the right guy to buy that one!! I was wondering also if the "yard" was POed at them or something. Like you stated, do they owe a bill to them or something. Ken even told me on monday that Ford has an advantage when taking delivery. He said that Ford pays the haulers and extra $40 a car/truck over the others (GM, Chrysler). He said that the haulers fight over the fords. Well when I drove by the yard I saw about 5-8 car haulers and they all had GM products on them .....so kinda blows that theory. I am going to call the sales manager tomorrow and see whats up. Request that someone go over there and pick up my vehicle. Let you know what happens. Thanks all for listening to me blabber about this....but it does get on your nerves after 14 days............
For those who have taken delivery......does the VOPC ever state that the truck has left the yard and gone to the dealer?????? just wondering....Thanks!!
I apologize for being the new stupid kid on the block, but what is VOPC? I ordered 8\16 got my DORA but havn't got a build date. I want to keep track without dealing with the dealer.
Welcome to the site - enjoy the waiting game. For VOPC see post 588 - great explanation.
Well the hardware is here. Actually got to the dealer on Tuesday night. Damned if I'm not out of town until Friday!!! They beat their schedule by 5 days - and no 'yard' hold up like crazyelvis - I feel for you man. As for VOPC, my info stalled at "Your Unit is on the ramp" whatever that means. The day it changed to that is the day the dealer called to tell me it was in.
Will post more after the weekend when I'll have some initial 'reviews'!
I ordered my SD F250, xlt super cab, lwb, V-10 on 8-16-99. Was given priority 10. My build date is 10-19-99 and delivery is 11-8-99. I spoke with the fleet manager today and asked why other people have ordered SD's after me and have already picked theirs up! The fleet mgr. said the F250 SD frame is also being used for the new Excursion (this we know). He also said the F250 SD Truck LWB is very popular right now. If I would have ordered an F350 or 4x4 I would have had mine by now. As for delivery he claims that the economy is good right now so there has been some delay there as the freight trains are busy hauling more than normal. Anyone know how much truth there is to any of this? It will be 8 weeks of waiting for me this Saturday. Crazyelvis how many weeks total now for you? I think I'm feeling your pain. Jim
jimsrs, I don't believe many of the dealers who promise us the world actually know what is going on. As for the "getting an F-350 sooner theory", all I can say is that my order was placed on July 27th, priority 10. I call the VOPC a few days per week and still get the same "unscheduled" message. My order was nothing special either: 4x4, V-10, 3.73LS, AC and sliding window. If anyone out there has any idea how Ford schedules these things please share it with the group. Yea, I'm getting bitchy.
I ordered on 8/16 also. The truck has been at the yard since sept. 30th. So it took about 6 weeks to get to the yard.....and who the hell knows how long to go the extra 15 miles from there to the dealer. It has been 15 days now!!!!! So right now we are at 8 weeks and 3 days!!!!!
Reply to 973. "Your unit is on the ramp", basically means "Come and get your truck"!! It is at the dealers, as you found out. Good luck with your new one.
I called my dealer yesteday to ask if the fire had affected my order since I ordered a V-10 and he said I was still scheduled for build next week.He also told me that all trucks coming to the Southern Cal. area come to a mix point in Hayward,Ca .He said we could drive out there and pick the truck up if I did not want to wait for the haulers to bring it to the dealer.Since you said you are in So. Cal. you might want to talk to your dealer about this option for quick access to the truck.
Crazyelvis, that "loaded" truck was probably the one we test drove. it has the Lariat "LE" package which includes 4 leather bucket seats, diamond plate running boards, clearance lights & some other little stuff. nice, but like you mentioned, a lot of $$$ for things not really necessary. so they have psd's on the lot, huh? you'd expect that, though, as these cost $3,600 (invoice), they're noisy, they stink up the place, and not many people really need them. we do though, so maybe our order will move along a little quicker. like other posts have mentioned, go figure how Ford schedules these things.
noticed that jimsrs has the same problem: truck just sitting the "yard" for 15 days now. mentioned b4, no sense at all to that. it's our understanding that the dealer clock starts "ticking" when the vehicle is "released". the dealer pays 1/2 of one percent of their dealer holdback regardless of when the truck actually delivers to the customer. that 1/2 percent "buys" 15 days "grace" (from the release date). after that the clock starts. so they've got to rid their inventory of that truck pretty quickly after it arrives at the yard or they begin to eat into their "profit" (2 1/2% of what remains of the MSRP dealer holdback + anything else they can "gouge" out of us).
saw this info over at ford-diesel.com forum but it's been awhile so may not have it 100% correct.
I thought the excursion was based upon the 350 (rather than what another post mentioned, the 250) as the 350 has a larger axle (even configured as SRW)... maybe I'm incorrect here, though, as our emphasis is on the pickup (excursions would have a hell-of-a-time attempting to haul a "fiver").
and boy, has it ever been raining over here in West Palm Beach & Tampa's fixing to get it real soon now too!
Ken's not in today, so no DORA info yet (2 weeks today since order placement). hmmn...
7/17 order & still no schedule? something's amiss. is the dealer telling you that or are you receiving that off the VOPC? if you're getting this from the dealer do you have your DORA info anyway (to verify that the order has REALLY been placed with Ford (see post 588 for an excellent description of all this). if no DORA info the dealer did not place your order due to allocation limits. demand the DORA info or cancel the order if they don't "come across" NOW. it's our understanding that once you receive the DORA info you ought to have a scheduled build date within a couple of weeks. you sure the hell should not be "unscheduled" after a 3 month wait. hope this helps.
Called and spoke to the light truck sales manager, Pat Cooper....no not the comedian...well...no won't go there....anyway.....He said he knows that I have refered 2 people and they want to get me my truck. Said he would call the yard tomorrow...fri...and see whats up. Said you had to call between 8am and 10am. Plus said that the yard does not like to have people pick up trucks...they are teamsters ya know...is what he said....This was at 12:00 noon today...thurs.....I got off the phone with him....looked up under yahoo yellow pages and found the phone number to the yard in about 3 seconds....called the number....pretending to be from Gator Ford....I am sneaky aren't I...used to be in submarine counter intell....anyway....talked to one of "those teamsters" named Clayton...he was REALLY helpful!! I gave him the last 8 of the VIN and he started to read off some other truck. Different paint...a 4x4.....deisel.....Right there I knew we had a problem.....I told him the correct configuration of the truck and he said he would go right out in the yard and try to find it. He said it was on a "NO LOAD" order since what he was looking for wasn't there. He also said that normally they don't like the dealers to pick up vehicles but since this has been in the yard a while he would make an exception....if he finds the right truck!!........So I call back Pat Cooper and tell him what I did by calling the yard....don't know if he was POed or not....don't care at this point....He says to me that "you seem to know what you are doing...call me back and let me know what is going on"....can you believe that??!! It takes me all of about 5 minutes to find out something concerning this problem when they have had over 2 weeks!!!!! I am POed to say the least!@!I have to call Clayton back at 1:15-1:30 to find out what he found out. If he says he found it and to pick it up....I am scheduling someone from Gator Ford to pick it up this evening!!!...then calling Pat Cooper back and telling him what time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Plus I have the flu now.......and a hurricane is comming!!!
crazyelvis: Wow. I feel for you. I hope everything turns out ok.
"Arrived at the Ramp": This VOPC message does NOT mean that the truck is at the dealer; it means that the truck has been off-loaded from the rail carrier and is at the yard awaiting motor transport to the dealer. Keep in mind that VOPC information can be days behind reality.
F-250 SD/F-350 (SRW) SD difference: My understanding is that the ONLY difference between these trucks is the heavier springs on the F-350 SRW (and of course the higher legal GVWR). Frames and all other components are identical.
Talked to Clayton at the rail yard....He found my truck...and it is in correct configuration....He is putting it on a carrier with others going to Gator Ford tomorrow...fri......I called Pat Cooper and told him to expect it tomorrow. Geez...I got this all done within an hour and a half. If I had left it up to Pat Cooper....how long do you think??? probably another week!!!!! lewac....If your truck gets in and you have any type of hassle at the yard...which I'm sure you won't......email me ....its on my profile in here....and I will give you the number for the yard......Boy I feel better now!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll probably take delivery Fri. and the hurricane will blow it away or a tree on it Sat. or Sun.!!!!!!!!!!
there are some testimonials about jet chips at http://www.f150online.com - message boards-> computer chips.. and when i asked 2 other shops (besides my regular one) about jet chips, they basically said forget about it (from bad experience and previous customers).. they all recommended hypertech and superchips.
I'm very interested to hear about your experience with the Banks Power Pak and the Trans Command once you get them. If you get a chance to ask the people at Banks some questions, I'd be interested to know if they can achieve the hp and torque with the 99 V-10 as with the 2000 V-10. If the increase in hp and torque between the 99 and 2000 models is exhaust and air-intake related, I would think that a Banks installation should yield the same hp and torque for either model year.
Also, I'd be interested to hear what kind of gains they get with the V-10. Everything I've read so far has been about the 460. Any info and figures you can get for the V-10 on just installing the Stinger would also be appreciated. I'm not sure my wallet can handle the complete Power Pak installation right now.
My final question would be about prices. They vary with different makes and models. I've not been able to find any prices for the V-10. I'm guessing the full Power Pak is probably about $2,200 installed and the Trans Command is around $250-$300 installed. The Stinger is probably in the $800-$900 range. Any info you can give on prices and your actual performance would be appreciated. You can e-mail if you prefer that route.

IT is about time. Remember they are worth waiting for. I ordered my CC PSD on 7/27/99 got here 7 weeks later. (Washington state) A friend ordered a SC V-10 in MAY and it came in last week. Same state different dealer. Is it the V-10 or the Super cab that seems to slow them up.
Again enjoy they are a blast. I have 2000 miles on mine in the first month. T4F
I have been seeing a few Super Duty's with a two inch lift on them and they look nice. It basically levels the truck out. Does anyone have one or heard of anything on them? I was wondering about integrity and handling. Superlift makes a good setup I hear.
well, I'm not a "head-honcho" salesperson... but if I were I'd be damn sure that my clients were "taken care of" properly. and we've most certainly learned from your experience. in essence, we're going to be looking for that truck in 3, 4 days (maximum) from when it hits that yard. because a two week wait is NOT our idea of proper dealership/customer relations. therefore; will make use of your offer for that yard phone # and will ask for Clayton there if the need arises. don't like being a hardass but don't like being "taken for an obvious bs ride", either. and you're right about them... if they get PO'd, so what? we're not purchasing little toy "tonka" trucks, here. these are big buck purchases and people need to be treated accordingly and that is the "bottom-line" the way we see it.
Service people right and you won't have PO'd customers to begin with... because PO'd customers are not going to do any business any good over the long haul. hopefully, the dealership is reading these posts and so will act accordingly.
We told Ken (when we ordered) that any time during December is fine with us in regard to delivery... they've got 13 weeks to get the vehicle and this should not be a problem at all for psd's with the 6 speed manual tranny's because Ford is scheduling that configuration just about immediately after the DORA is issued even when there is NO DEALERSHIP ALLOCATION availability (got this info from ford-diesel.com)... and we're looking for that DORA info tomorrow as well. that's what's great about these boards & the net in general... "you can run, but you cannot hide"... relating to the information highway, just a few years ago this kind of info would have been impossible to obtain. and complacent dealerships (or any complacent business) had better beware. if Gator Ford delivers our truck as promised then they will see favorable recommendations based upon this. but if they do not...
wish you luck getting the truck tomorrow. you may possibly even "forget" that you've got the flu along with the pounding rain that is due us. and keep us all posted.
that's a great delivery time. hadn't scanned your prior posts but if the price was right (anything less than a grand over invoice we feel is a good price on such a high demand vehicle) did you post this dealership so others in your area (or any area for that matter) would be aware? good dealerships need to be "heard" about as they're obviously not that many good ones around.
we've ordered a psd with the manual tranny, CC, Lariat, 4X4, F-350, etc. & this is one of the reasons for what ought to be a prompt scheduled build. the v10 is the holdup for 2 reasons: engine plant fire (some 13k engines lost). and the highly profitable excursion is dipping heavily into v10 allocation territory. the SD's just aren't getting them nearly as readily. from what we've read the CC configuration, trim level, etc. is basically a non-issue.
You are almost exact on the pricing. Gale Banks called me around noon today to inform me that the difference between the '99 and 2000 models is drastic on the stock exhaust configuration (hanger locations, coverter location, etc) and they will need to fabricate different components for the new model year. They are using my truck for their proto-type and I guess could possibly dyno the before and after performance gains for torque and horsepower. They told me the headers fit with small changes but from there on it was a different animal. Anyway, the truck might not be done by Friday because the need to fabricate to systems (mine and theirs) but I will definately give you my honest opinion and if it was worth it. With 10% off for allowing them to use my truck the price is $2400 installed. That includes the Trans Command module and about 8% tax out here in Ca. I will keep you posted.
jimveta, thanks for the information, I even called Mike and talked to him about the whole "chip" thing, very interesting indeed. Chip cost is around $375.00(sale), so if the jet does not work out, I know who to call. For those of you down in florida, SUPERCHIP is seeking volunteers to do some testing with the new vehicles. See post #985 for website. Go to the message board section and look for the chip catagory. Then look for the SUPERCHIP catagory. All of the testing done at no charge to customer. Crazyelvis, what can we say except YOU GO DUDE!!! I would be having a SERIOUS talk with the OWNER about the situation. Maybe you can get some free goodies to alleviate your pain/suffering. My VOPC message still has not changed, I would have thought it might given today is the 14th, but then again it could be days behind the actual status of the truck. Shook1, check last months(mabye this months) issue of I believe 4-wheeler or 4-wheel & off-road. The did a 4" lift on a super-duty. I know you only wanted 2", but the information might be helpful. TO ALL: I have heard from my dealer that there is a rail shortage right now, which is affecting some delivery dates. I think he said something about transport cars being in short supply. Has anyone else heard this??
The inventory manager....can't remember his name...Robert something.....called me tonight. He apologized about a million times about the wait. He said he has been loosing hair and loosing his voice the past two weeks trying to get lot vehicles to Gator Ford. He got one load yesterday (wed.) of seven trucks....3 for the rental part, 2 for customer orders, 1 for some other thing....and one lot truck. I talked to him about me calling the yard and setting up my own delivery...and he basically said that while he regrets it coming to that he said whatever works. He was not POed a bit......Said I showed inititive. Not really....more like desperation!!!!!!! Anyway....he said he knew about you lewac and the other person I refered (sorry can't remember name) and was quite appreciative. That went a long way with me. At least admit your mistake instead of ignoring it and going on like nothing happened...which is what this guy did. So I'm sure I'll be forgeting all the crud over the last two weeks when I sit in those nice leather seats and purrrrrrrr down the road with my V10!!!! YIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Good luck all and I will post and let you know what is going on......MPG, ride, power, etc..... Crazyelvis has left the building for tonight!!!! I will miss my F150.....been a damn good truck!
Gossamar, I was told the same thing about the "rail shortage" by the fleet manager at my dealer. I sure hope nothing else comes up and causes more delays! Crazyelvis, happy to hear the good news! It's about time. I think Gator Ford needs to get their act together to say the least. Maybe they should hire you and get rid of some of those other slackers. Better yet, open your own dealership hehe. Well I know you said you'd keep us posted. Thanks and congrats! Jimsrs
but am millions of dollars short I am sure. I don't need headaches from people like me who post in here either....ha ha ha ha ha!!! just kidding everyone!!! It really isn't Gator Fords fault....the rail yard had a different style truck under my VIN for some reason. Cound Gator Ford do a little more to figure out why it was taking so long.....maybe....but they weren't getting any of their lot trucks either...so they had no reason to believe mine had a problem......But....I won't let them know that tomorrow.....I'll try and milk this for a while...ha ha..... Buckling down for poss. Hurrrrrricane Irene tomorrow also.....wish us luck!!!!
Downloaded your V-10 wave. Sounds good to me. Interesting tone. I think the "V-6 on steroids" just about fits it. I'm rattling the walls right now with my sub woofer listening to it rev. It's amazing how adding 2 cylinders changes the over all tone. Thanks for posting the wave. Jimsrs
Got my V10 F-250 SD XLT 4x2 on 8-12-99 & have been having fun ever since. It has the 4.30 LS & auto. trans, camper pkg, ext. cab, LINE-X bedliner, big tires & other misc. The 4-wheel disk ABS is great; no "nosing" during stops. No engine concerns of any kind. I get on the freeway once in a while just for the speed & acceleration thrill, and just love it when I'm hitting 70 MPH and it still accelerates at the same rate as when I'm going 30 or so. Mileage doesn't change for anything, always around 12 MPG. Hauled 1.5 TONS of stone last weekend; couldn't even tell there was a load during acceleration, except for the slight change in ride height. Have 3800 miles on it. ****CRAZYELVIS...I don't know what to say; Maybe write a book? I had similar situation, order for a '99 placed 2-9-99, changed to 2000 in May. Truck sat in dealers lot for a week as there was no invoice. (The window sticker had no prices) Keep all of us "loyal fans" posted on your exploits.. I just hope for the best for ya! David B
I went to Chuck Aurand at Harris Ford and got a bid (fleet sales). I live in Bellingham so I test drove one at Pioneer Ford in Lynden Wash. They gave me the old "if they can we can speach" I showed them the bid from Chuck (FAX) and they matched it ($100 over invoice) they told me that they knew Chuck and knew he was legit, but they said he sells so many trucks it would take longer to get. Since Harris is 1.5 hours away and Pioneer is 20 min. I thought I would give it a try. Only had it a month but so far (other than a scratchy radio) I have no complaints about the truck or the dealer.T4F
Well it been a few weeks now with now build date.I ordered on sept 6, 250 lariet 5.4. etc.. My question is do i need to go to my dealer view the dora info,or am i safe because i've been calling the VOPC on a daily basis with a clean and unsched as of yet. This does mean ford has received my order correct.Looking fo a little help has anyone ever dealt with Rodman ford in foxboro,Ma Thanks
Thanks for the info. I just realized that the sales tax rate is a lot less in your neck of the woods than Seattle. Congrats on your purchase and keep us posted on your life with your truck when you get a chance.
we're just beginning the VOPC process but found out a few things via reading many posts. there's no point in calling VOPC any more often than weekly until the truck is actually built. they schedule most trucks for build on Thursday's so if you call Thurs eve or Friday for status that's good enough 'til the following week. I don't completely understand your post. if you've been scheduled for build (your first sentence)then you should not be receiving a message "clean & unscheduled". you should have a build date instead. because you've been calling the VOPC this means you have at least your order #, chassis code, and dealer code. you should check with your dealer for the VIN as that ought to be available by now (this makes it an easier process to check status). note that the order # can't be issued until the DORA info has been received by the dealer because that's where they derive the # from. see post 588 for a complete description of all this. finally, your truck doesn't have anything on it that would delay a scheduling for build. the largest problem that several posts have noted here has been for the v10 option... and even that may be exaggerated somewhat. I'd suggest you get with the dealer as you ought to have a build date by now (most get one within a couple of weeks after the DORA info has been received back from Ford.
if anyone is further into this process please give rflint some additional info that may br relevant.
well, we do what we must do. will remember your difficulties when ours arrives at the rail. hopefully; your experience will wake these people up. we'll see.
Received order # from Ken today (he didn't have the VIN) off the DORA. tried to get a copy of that DORA via FAX but my fax software wouldn't receive (or I don't know how to enable the thing). sent ok to him but no go the other way. really don't care, the order has definitely been received by Ford & VOPC indicates "clean & unscheduled" (probably no chassis available as no VIN on DORA). 15 days since order placed but there's no indication of hang-ups with our option list as we didn't order the v10 (went psd & manual tranny). hopefully you've received your truck by time of this post. LUCK!!!
After speaking w/my dealer this afternoon about Dora info,he states the only time you get the dora info is after the truck has been scheduled for a build date.I ordered sept 6, with a delivery date of approx 8-13 weeks according to Rodman ford.Well after almost 6 weeks no info as of yet,Im able to call the VOPC,and im still clean and unsched.I have a feeling this going to be much longer wait than the dealer is telling me!!going on 7 weeks.Maybe i should start checking out some other dealers in the area, called a few today and they report it shouldn't take any longer than 8-10 weeks..
I recieved my Dora two days after I placed my order. The dealer sent it to me along with some other paperwork. At the time, I had no idea what a DORA was, but after checking out this site, I quickly got on the phone and checked my status. Sounds like the usual dealer run around to me. My truck is scheduled 10/25 to be built, with a delivery of 11/15. Like I said before, when I am sitting in it, I will believe it. Ordered truck on 8/18.
It sounds like your dealer is mis-informed, or is mis-informing you.. It is my understanding, based on experience and reading the 100's of posts here, that the DORA is sent to the dealer soon after they've placed the order, if the dealer has enough allotment for the truck.. I've also heard that if the dealer doesn't have an allotment for the truck your ordering, then that can delay the DORA..
remember DORA=Dealer Order Receipt Acknowledgement
An example is a dealer near me only has a 3% allotment for SuperDutys trucks with V10. and that they only are alloted for 12 trucks a month. As 3% of 12 is less than 1, it takes 2 months before the dealer can even order a V10.. I think this type of situation could delay a DORA.
There are other allotment factors as well, such as DRW, crew cab, and some others I can't think of.
just FYI Ordered F250 SC XLT 5.4L 5sp, on 10/6 Status: Scheduled for build week of 10/25 Delivery date scheduled for 11/8
The dealer told me it would be around 3 months to get the truck. I think he was just being conservative in my particular case.. Looks like I'll get it around 2 months after ordering.. Unless I run into a crazyelvis problem..
looks like Bess has it correct. the DORA info is sent within days of Ford receiving the order from the dealer (regardless of whether or not it is scheduled). i'd be looking for another dealer NOW. the dealer is definitely blowing smoke & if he doesn't believe this have him read just a few of the posts on this site. it's beyond the time that the DEALERS took notice of these boards because sooner or later (probably sooner) these boards will dictate a continually increasing share of their business (or lack of business if they keep screwing up like this one obviously is). rFlint, if you haven't seen post 588 it's worth having a look-see (may want to print that out & bring it in to your current dealer (as I don't believe this site nor Dave84 (the author of the post would mind). note that for convenience you may want to purchase nearby... but we went 250 miles to find a decent dealer (good price, good allotment). sounds to us as they dealer is out of allotment. remember that size doesn't matter... it's how many trucks they move so you may want to consider a dealer (even if they are "smallish") that sells ONLY trucks. example: we have a dealer within 10 miles of us that brags about a 1,000 vehicle stock. big deal. there's no SD's on the lot! so guess what, you get a 6 to 8 month quote & a price around MSRP! and this is an autoByTel dealer besides. hope this helps.
Well I have 52 miles on the truck!! Picked it up at 4:00 today. Drives like a dream. My wife even let me go to Cracker Barrell for dinner on the way home. Worked out a deal to get free oil chages for as long as I own the car. Good enough for me!! A couple of questions....on the Lariat package with the overhead console. Is it basically the trip computer part and a big hole where you could store a rolled up pair of hunting socks?? For some reason I thought it would be longer.....like the one in my wifes windstar. And with the trailer hitch....the dohicky plug in next to the reciever .......is that plug in supposed to be included with the truck.....My F150 had the same plug in and I can't remember....plus I didn't think to look or ask while I was at the dealer. I drove a 99' V10...and let me tell you ....there is a BIG difference driving the new 00' model. Seemed like much more power!! I put my black Huskey floor liners in the front and back of the truck....I thought they looked cheap out of the box but they look nice in the truck....fit real well also. I put my Dash Mat dash cover on as well....with Buccaneer logo....it fit to a tee!! Tomorrow I go to get my bed rug, roll top cover, bug shield, and rain gurards installed. The only other things to do is tinting and air bag on/off switch for pass. side. All in all so far I am VERY happy!!!!!
Lewac......How is the weather over there.....luckily we are missing the storm pretty much all together. Hope you are doing alright!!!
I use the storage area by the trip computer for my sunglasses.
Temp on my way to work this morning was 16. The high likely didn't reach freezing. That is even unseasonably cool for Anchorage. Hard to believe highs were over 50 two weeks ago. The days are getting shorter. No hurricanes, but winter is coming.....

when does the dealer pay for the truck? don't they have to pay for it b4 it is shipped? if not, then when? it'd make sense that the dealer must "pre-pay" the thing or maybe they're working on some kind of "margin" percentage (which may not require a full pre-pay).
What a time for a business trip!!!!!!!!
My order was nothing special either: 4x4, V-10, 3.73LS, AC and sliding window. If anyone out there has any idea how Ford schedules these things please share it with the group. Yea, I'm getting bitchy.

noticed that jimsrs has the same problem: truck just sitting the "yard" for 15 days now. mentioned b4, no sense at all to that. it's our understanding that the dealer clock starts "ticking" when the vehicle is "released". the dealer pays 1/2 of one percent of their dealer holdback regardless of when the truck actually delivers to the customer. that 1/2 percent "buys" 15 days "grace" (from the release date). after that the clock starts. so they've got to rid their inventory of that truck pretty quickly after it arrives at the yard or they begin to eat into their "profit" (2 1/2% of what remains of the MSRP dealer holdback + anything else they can "gouge" out of us).
saw this info over at ford-diesel.com forum but it's been awhile so may not have it 100% correct.
Ken's not in today, so no DORA info yet (2 weeks today since order placement). hmmn...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Plus I have the flu now.......and a hurricane is comming!!!
Frames and all other components are identical.

lewac....If your truck gets in and you have any type of hassle at the yard...which I'm sure you won't......email me ....its on my profile in here....and I will give you the number for the yard......Boy I feel better now!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll probably take delivery Fri. and the hurricane will blow it away or a tree on it Sat. or Sun.!!!!!!!!!!

computer chips.. and when i asked 2 other shops (besides my regular one) about jet chips, they
basically said forget about it (from bad
experience and previous customers).. they all
recommended hypertech and superchips.

Again enjoy they are a blast. I have 2000 miles on mine in the first month.

"you can run, but you cannot hide"... relating to the information highway, just a few years ago this kind of info would have been impossible to obtain. and complacent dealerships (or any complacent business) had better beware. if Gator Ford delivers our truck as promised then they will see favorable recommendations based upon this. but if they do not...
wish you luck getting the truck tomorrow. you may possibly even "forget" that you've got the flu along with the pounding rain that is due us. and keep us all posted.
we've ordered a psd with the manual tranny, CC, Lariat, 4X4, F-350, etc.
YIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Good luck all and I will post and let you know what is going on......MPG, ride, power, etc.....
Crazyelvis has left the building for tonight!!!!
I will miss my F150.....been a damn good truck!
Jimsrs
Buckling down for poss. Hurrrrrricane Irene tomorrow also.....wish us luck!!!!
"Super Duty contd. 3 ???? Guess I'll find out soon.
if anyone is further into this process please give rflint some additional info that may br relevant.
LUCK!!!
gain access to dash lamps?
