(Actually my only problem is that I end up changing my oil twice a year, but that generally falls around Christmas and July 4...I may change it early this spring so I'll be on an April/October schedule instead of a heat of summer, dead of winter routine!!)
I too was a religious 3K changer for dino oil...but with my O4 Malibu Maxx..been using the GMOL...and changed about every 4500...with dino oil until I switched to syth oil...now I go about 7500 between changes...and the GMOL usually it as 25-30% around 7500....I seem to get a 10% reduction per 1000 miles driven.....I also document all my changes and service and mygmlink.com any service you have done at the dealer is automatically documented as well as long as you register with your VIN number...again personal choice to do it every 3K...but 56K on my Maxx and doing well.....
also just got our 06 Pontiac Solstice..which I will conver to Sythn as well..but still use the GMOL in the digital info center....
Yes, the Solstice are short in supply making them demand more $$$ as with most limited production vehicles.
I thought everyone had rev limiters now? Floor your car in park and the tach will lightly "bounce" off redline.
Then again, would I get tired of a purple car?
One of the best ways to save money on GM cards is to get a GM Mastercard; 5% of your credit card purchases counts against your future car purchase, subject to $1,000, $2,000 etc. cap per vehicle (the HHR had $1,000 off).
The HHR is very popular. When I shopped it last month, the best I could do was a few hundred under sticker, plus the GM Card discount; so I decided to wait.
If you are in Southern Califonia, come out and meet some other HHR owners.
We hope to see you there!
my wife took the HHR on a drive to Bama the day we got it and she was trying to jump somoen off (oooo, that sounds bad)
anyway, she said she couldnt find the battery....under the seat, maybe? or is she an idiot (which is a strong possibility) and didnt see in under the hood?
this car would be oh so fun to drive with 250 HP....of course the gas mileage would be as good
the TB got about 18mpg combined....that wasnt gonna cut it. i am 25 and we have a 7 week old and wasting $$ on gas at this times just doesnt seem wise. i get roughly 25 mpg in my MAXima....
when my wife wanted a HHR i sorta scoffed. my father in law works for GM and we do get the employee discount, so that of course would be nice, but a HHR?
well.........i love it. i have been looking for a G35, TL, Lexus IS350...maybe a Saab 9-5,or Buick Lucerne for myself....obviosuly more costly cars and more "lux"
we bought a silver 2LT fully optioned HHR w/ chrome....i must say i am impressed. fit and finish for a $24,000 car is fantastic. XM radio, heated seats, remote start, ipod jack...not much else i could ask for...except for maybe NAV and HID's, but obviously not needed in this caliber car. good gas mileage is bonus. rides extremely well
only negatives: needs more power (and that would prolly negate the good gas mileage) and arm rests need to be bigger or 1 solid piece.
i like so much that when my Maxima croaks, i may get a black 2LT HHR.
i m impressed.
your thoughts?

The Solstice will have a turbo option with 260hp. If GM does the same with the HHR, your dreams will come true.

If mileage is your ONLY concern, go with the TDI. But if you're equating a higher MPG diesel VW with lower total operating costs, you're likely mistaken. First, diesel costs more than gasoline. In most locales, it's about a 10% difference.
Second, unless you're really, really lucky, the odds of you getting one of the "good" VWs aren't good. And the bad ones... well, you don't want to think about the bad ones. Adding insult to injury, VW has some of the worst service depts. in the industry. Poor reliability combined with poor service is a nightmare in the making.
Think seriously before you pull the trigger on the VW. Do you feel lucky? Do you?
IQS2 ( initial quality after 3 months)- industry average 118, VW 147 problems per hundred.
VDS (vehicle dependibility after 3 years) industry average 237, VW 335.
Actually only one more problem than average after 3 years.
HHR will probably score better than industry average.
What Im getting at is that it would be nice to see Chevy and Ford get into a small diesel passenger car like the HHR so we as consumers can conserve oil. The price can be a problem, but it is also a variable. Now diesel cost more, three months from now it might be the other way.
I may not be quoting this word for word, but the president of MB pointed out that if one third of the US car and light truck fleet was diesel the US could reduce oil consumption by 1.4 million barrels a day. I personally would be willing to pay a little more for diesel to help get out from under the Middle East thumb.
So a 2.0L or a 2.2L diesel in the HHR could make for a nice ride. :shades:
Sorry about the soap box. Stepping down now.
Not going to happen until something is done about emissions and or US standards and or the fuel itself is cleaned up.
Auto's verses manuals.
THANKS
With recent Volkswagen quality issues I wouldn't be in a rush to go shopping there where "Driver's Are Wanted."
