    was for $2.52 (87 octane). Most station are running $2.57 ~ $2.58, with a few up to $2.68. The station selling E85 has it going for $2.58, with 87 octane for $2.68.

    Over the past weekend prices in the city were averaging $2.65

    $2.28 at the Jersey shore yesterday but that was at the Wawa.

    Oddly, the name brand stuff tends to stay a penny or two higher but is currently 15 cents higher! At least the trend is down there as well.

    per gallon--10% ethanol : 2.139 to 2.189 for the real thing it is usually approx 25-30 cents more maybe depending on where you may be.

    $2.28 is veyr good price. For couple months or so the prices by home have been higher than at work, which was always the opposite. I've been filling up the truck and car a couple towns (and county) over from home, though the last fill-up for the car was over a month ago. It's been a steady tick down here, hope it continues.

    I saw a lot of $2.34 on a road trip between VA and AL last week. Cheapest was $2.22 at an off-brand in Chattanooga. Regular is still holding at $2.69 in Boise.

    was for $2.46 (87 octane). The station also has an E85 pump for $1.99. My old station is the highest around my at $2.63 for 87 octane, with everyone else running in the $2.51 ~ $2.55 range. Even the stations by work have been running $2.55 for the past week.

    The Gas City on my route has E85 for $2.42, with 87 octane going for $2.52. Diesel prices have beena veraging about 20 cents higher than 87 octane.

    Yeah, I paid that today at the Jersey shore. Saw it from anywhere from $2.17 (which I saw after I paid $2.25...) to $2.35 today.

    Yeah, the NJ prices are really good compared to a lot of other states. The problem is.... I leave for Florida next week and they (AirTran) won't allow me to take a bunch of five gallons cans on the plane. Florida is usually about twenty cents/gallon higher.

    Back in the good old days I could just check a whole case of booze on most airlines. Pre 9/11 that is. One agent I ran into with United in Reno would not allow me to check my case of Yukon Jack for the trip back to Alaska. He made me carry it onto the plane. When I got to SF I checked it through to my destination in Alaska. Never could figure that one out. Never tried to haul gas. Though I believe that 100 proof would run in something.

    Costco holding at $2.91. Spotted diesel $2.74 at a truck stop.

    I "helped" a friend drive a truck to Prudhoe back in the 90s and after a day of viewing the sights, we went to the airport where he checked in, using his "go north" ticket. Then he gave me his boarding pass in the gate area and I got on the plane and flew back to Anchorage. The good old days. :)

    I filled up with regular today at Fred Meyers for 2.63. It's between $2.69 and $2.73 at the majors. Premium is $2.95 - I guess it'll hit $3 a gallon soon since it's gone up since summer driving season.

    That played a big part in my retirement. It was such a good job working half the year in the Arctic. It was the flying and the hassles at the airports that got to me. If there was anyway reasonable to get to Hawaii other than flying I would take it. This year our major vacation will be driving the USA. I will keep you posted of the gas prices on our trip. First to the farm in MN. Then to visit the kids in Indiana. Not sure from there. Want to catch some of the trees turning color.

    R.U.G $2.23.9 on road diesel $2.59 Diesel always seems to be about 25 cents higher in South Jersey.

    here in ct, leaves are falling off the trees, but color is not there yet.
    gas prices are under 2.70 even paying the non cash up charge.

    by me. Filled up for $2.44 (87 octane) with a couple stations at $2.42 a little further up the road. The others had petrol prices for $2.49 ~ 2.51.

    Was in the city Saturday where prices on the south side were in the $2.76 range.

    Can we hope for more price reductions? But with the wind kicking up last night / today that may have caused someone to panic and the price may go up :surprise: (haven't had one of those stupid excuses in awhile)

    As soon as I got good gas in Nevada and Utah the Sequoia mileage jumped up. Highest 19.34 MPG last tank 18.85 MPG. Averaging between 75-80 MPH. Most of Utah on Interstate 15 is posted 75 MPH and several sections are now 80 MPH.
    Gas prices:
    Mesquite Nevada $2.76
    Provo Utah $2.64
    Rawlins Wyoming $2.41

    The colors driving on 189 out of Provo Utah were beautiful

    I can officially buy gas for under $2.20 at the Jersey shore. $2.17 at the Wawa. If I want a major brand I'm at $2.21.

    Gary, those pictures are great. You will love Mount Rushmore. Nothing prepared me for how much more impressive it is in person. Just stunning.

    Just got back from Mt Rushmore. It is the second time for me. My wife had never been to see them. Also rode that steam train for over two hours. My eyes still burn from all the smoke.

    In Hill City, SD I paid $2.43 for Conoco 85 octane with NO Ethanol. Ethanol laced gas was $2.38. I have been averaging close to 19 MPG for the trip using good old unleaded, so did not want to go back to the 14 MPG I get with ethanol added.

    Still holding at $2.379 and $2.679 for 87 and 93 octane, respectively, at the local Shell. I filled up my '76 LeMans this morning, after driving it up to PA and back over the weekend. Got an astounding 16.6 mpg on that trip. :)

    Paid my first under $2.10 a gallon since last spring yesterday. 1/10 of a cent under but it's getting there!

    Not quite as good as South Jersey, but getting there...$2.17 for RUG at Kroger including a 10-cent discount for reward points.

    And here's something I haven't seen in quite a while: the prices at Hess are $2.26 for 87, $2.34 for 89, and $2.40 for 93, just a 14-cent spread between regular and premium.

    i paid 2.559 for RUG, not @ my regular station, which is less than i have been paying for quite while. the bad part is, the hand calculated mileage was quite a bit less than the car computer(-.6). usually it has been pretty close(+- .1).

    Filled today in Evansville Indiana and the Shell station was up 10 cents from Monday. Paid $2.39 for RUG. Still at least 50 cents cheaper than CA. Just across the border in KY the price at Shell is $2.32. I will fill in KY when I take off on Friday.

    Watch to see if gas prices take a Thursday jump before you leave. We had shrinking gas prices with occasional restorations to full price on Thursdays or Tuesdays. Some pleaces had gas at 2.09 a little north of Dayton and $2.17 in Dayton hot spot. Monday we had a jump to $2.39 everywhere (many stations were at $2.29 so that wasn't too drastic). Today I saw a station at $2.48.

    Here in the Midwest we deal with big jumps followed by slowly shrinking prices with big jumps to get the price back to a good profit margin. I call them the Speedway bumps because Speedways are usually first to go up (owned by Marathon Oil).

    I think the price jump here in Evansville is related to the Fall Festival. It is the second largest street fair in the USA next to Mardi gras. We were wandering through the back country of KY and RUG was as low as $2.27. Headed back home tomorrow. Will report gas prices in the Ozarks. Not going on any freeways. Will spend the whole day on US 60, going through the Ozarks. Mostly two lane and NO large cities.

    We are enjoying the drive. 3400 miles with about 2100 left. We plan to be home in about a week. Hope the good gas prices hold. I expected $3 per gallon and 15 MPG. The average price so far is about $2.39 and we are averaging just over 18 MPG.

    I agree completely! There's so much more to see on the back roads, and often they're nearly deserted because everyone else is "making time" on the interstates. Plus if you see something really interesting, you can usually just pull off the side of the road, especially out West.

    as you go through Missouri you could even go on old stretches of Route 66. Rolla, MO, has a stretch of Route 66 heading west out of it. I used to love to drive down those stretches of old highway and imagine life as it was way back in the day. Very cool. That's back in my old college stomping gorunds. You are really logging on the miles, and I agree, great way to do it, off the main throughways.

    Gas is $2.45 here at the Mustang/Giant. We've been in this general price range for literally months now, here in Willcox, AZ.

    I am spending the night in Neosho, MO. We took US 60 across the state and then 14 to bypass Springfield and Joplin. Plan on going South through OK. We will probably spend time on I 40 across the state. Not sure yet.

    Cheapest gas is in MO. Filled with Shell for $2.19 and found the discount stations selling as low as $2.10. Lowest priced road diesel I have seen on the trip is here in MO also. Several selling ULSD for $2.39.

    The Shell station in Sparta MO had a big sign. NO ALCOHOL ADDED TO OUR GAS. I am running on that tank and will see if it gets better mileage. Put about 500 miles down today. It was raining most of the way, so not as pleasant driving.

    is a beautiful state, especially if the weather is not too humid and there's no tornado's brewing. It is serious Bible Belt country. You'll notice what seems to be a different church around every turn on those backwoods highways. Beautiful, wooded hills rolling and stretching for miles and miles.

    It was a cool state to go to college in. Not overly impressed with St.Louis or KC, except that it was in St. Louis, MO, that my wife and I and son first saw one of my favorite rock bands, The Drive-By Truckers. In the spring of 2004, right after I finished up my required courses for the Respiratory Therapy program I was in.

    I remember gas prices being pretty agreeable there as well. Enjoy your trip and watch those floor mats, man!

    The drive through MO was nice but it rained off and on most of the trip. It was a dry ride through OK yesterday. We were re-routed two times due to roads closed by floods. Missed the prettiest parts. The drive across on 152 was pleasant. The bit of I 40 we were on was a mess. Lots of trucks and road work. Our Stimulus dollars at work. And it needs it. That is one rough section of highway.

    Shell is $2.29 in Amarillo. Not sure what the highway will be like to Albuquerque. We woke up to 31 degrees and icy rain. So much for GW. It is warmer in Fairbanks AK than the TX panhandle.

    You're not kidding - Friday afternoon we jumped up to $2.60 on average, about a 20 cents jump!! I was lucky on Saturday as my Plan B station was still at $2.42 for 87 octance, with the Plan A at $2.49 (my last fill-up was for $2.24 in Lowell, IN.). All the rest were at $2.55 ~ $2.62, with the Speedway the highest. Not sure if this was due to Columbus Day, the cold weather we're in or a combo.

    Filled in Albuquerque Flying J at $2.32 this morning. Just filled in Globe, AZ Shell for $2.31. The 86 octane Flying J gas broke my old record. For 327 miles I averaged 19.80 MPG. It did not say if it was laced with ethanol. From the MPG I would say it did not have any ethanol.

    just filled up the '79 5th Ave this morning at the Shell in Seabrook, MD, on my way in to work. $2.679 for 93 octane. 18 mpg since my last fill-up. Mostly highway, but that's still pretty good for that car! The week before, I only got about 16.5 out of my '76 LeMans on the same trip, and I drove it more gently. Sometimes I wonder with these bigger cars, if they might actually get better mileage at higher speeds? At least, up to a point?
