It happened to me before also, but not on the lexus, on my other car (Legend). It only happens when I drive fast (high 60s to around high 70s...) it'll feel kinda shakey...
if I speed more than 80, it will actually feel better...
I would suggest you check the tires... maybe the tires are not rotating perfectly... or the tire treads weared un-evenly... tire pressure not right, alignment not right...
or simply, wheel not round.... wheel balance is off....
quite a few things can do this... maybe you hit a big bump / pothole... hit the curb when parking and rubbed the tires... anything big or small can mess the wheel or alignment...
and usually it won't show when you're travelling slow (relatively speaking...) but at high speed, that's when everything is amplified, and you can feel the difference...
hope it helps...
Thats why they call them high intensity.
I did extensive research and ended up putting on Michelin
energy MXV4s8 and have noticed a far more superior ride.
They are also less expensive than Goodyear.

...do you (or anyone!) know the specific Bulletin number regarding the warped rotor replacement?? I am asking because I had the same problem and my dealer told me that there was no "campaign" for this problem so he resurfaced the rotors and left my original calipers and pads on the vehicle. If there is a bulletin I will go back and get it done the right way.
Thanks for your post..
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: NHTSA Bulletin Number: 00404
MFG Bulletin Date: 20040618
Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
Details: FRONT BRAKE VIBRATION. *MJ
Date added to datbase: 20040729
Thanks for the quick post...I tried searching the NHTSA site with the Bulletin number 00404 but a message came back that no Bulletin matched the number. From the date (200406 which looks like 20April06) it looks pretty recent and the NHTSA TSB site doesnt list this fix.
If you have any additional info it would be greatly appreciated...I want to go back with a specific Bulletin/TSB printed-out otherwise they will just deny that a fix exists..thnks again..
We just have summary info but it gives this number (here's the direct link but it may not work?):
NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10008391
Full text is sometimes available at the NHTSA site or you can buy it at Alldata.com. Or ask your service writer for a copy.

..thanks; I didnt realize that the 00404 number was the actual TSB number. I found it; I was surprized that it was from so long ago (June04). There isnt much of a description, though it does mention brakes/vibration
I'll ask my service rep to print-out the TSB and we'll see how it goes from there.
This is a great site...
Of course, its not like service is cheap that they aren't making up the cost, but I have not been denied it yet.
I'm curious ... does the RX330 have some high speed stability problems? I have a GX470 that's awful at high speeds ... any breeze at all > 70 mph and I'm constantly fighting for stability. My old Grand Cherokee was MUCH more stable. Bart
The dealer has replaced my front rotors (under waranty)for the steering wheel shimmy and recently replaced my radiator under and extended the waranty for the raditor to around 90k miles. There was nothing wrong with the radiator, but the dealer said that some could be questionable in the future, so why not replace it now.
My brakes recently had that metallic clunk coming from the floor near the pedals and I also noticed that the pedal was slightly lower on the 1st pump and got higher on the 2nd press of the brakes. The dealer bleed the air from the brakes and BOTH problems disappeared. Hope this helps.
have not posted since we bought our 04 AWDRX 330 but have checked in several times to keep up.It now has 45K on it
Just recently had Radiator replaced (leaked-its a good idea to let them do it if suggested as the new ones is most certianly a different/improved type-we also recieved a $50.00 gas card from Lexus for trouble). They did brake booster and headlight etch then as well.
Its at Lexus now as brakes have not felt right since the booster was replaced (low pedal) and quoted $425. for pads and resurface rotors in front (we are buying parts and having Toyota dealer do it-bought the "lexus" pads, shims from dealer(@typical overpriced $113) as suggested by the Toyota service manager-claims some of the Toyota pads are not exact fits and they will do for $176.00 saving $130 !
Also quoted $900 + for tires,Michelin's.
Any ideas for best price?? Sams, BJ's???
Its a AWD and after 45k I figure tires and front pads is all I have had to buy for it (except oil changes of course-been doing Mobil 1 with Toyota filter at friends shop for free)
Thanks in advance
Any ideas for best price?? Sams, BJ's???
Check out Tires, tires, tires for suggestions too.

Tirerack was $5 less per tire but by the time you add shipping and install (two of the reccomended installers where not to hot on doing it-kindalike bring a steak to restaurant I suspect)it would be 784.
both Bj's and tire w/house where a good bit more and the dealer was 975!!!dont mind a bit more but damn 225 is to much.
My parents have an 2004 so I am familar with driving it.
The following has occured 3 times now:
At speeds between 60-70mph the car all of a sudden gets very rough and stops accelerating.
The whole car begins to shake violently and make loud clunking sounds.
I have to full off the highway.
The care feels like it is either running out of gas or I am stauling out.
The first time the dealer said nothing wrong, but we'll change the brake pads and udate the software for the transmission.
A week later it happened again. After being in the shop for a week with technicians driving it (putting 130m ont he car) they said nothing wrong, I must have had "bad gas"
Now it is a week later I just got back from a weekend trip in which case it happened again. This time the sterring wheel shimmied for about 3 minutes before the entire car clunked and started shaking violently.
It is truly very frightening. No warning lights are coming on and the dealer insists the car is fine! I am scared to drive it! I think it is the transmission, but the dealer thinks I'm just nuts - thankfulling it has happened with serveral people in the car to witness it, but I just want my car to run properly!
HELP!
Brakepads/rotors: My Lexus RX330, approximately 25K miles, shook slightly whenever I braked on the highway. I took it in and the dealership stated that the rotors needed to be resurfaced and that this was not a defect in the car. This just didn't sound right so I did some research and thanks to "cotmc" I too phoned the national service number and the rep indicated that there was a service bulletin out for this issue and stated that the replacement of the rotors and brake pads would be covered under warranty.
Radiator: There was a recall for the radiators about a year ago. My car heated up so I didn't find out until it was too late. First syptom was not the temperature gauge but rather less than cool air blowing out of my air conditioner.
Hope this is helpful.
I have demonstrated this gearbox ‘whine’ to the Service Manager at the dealership, who had no answer and is going to check with Lexus Service to find out what could be causing it and what the corrective action is.
Has anybody experienced similar symptoms?
:confuse:
ARE THE SEATS UNCOMFORTABLE TO ANYONE ELSE?
Sorry couldn't be more help.
