Yes. Fox Chase to be exact.

I need to get some neighbors like yours.

2009 BMW 335i, 2003 Corvette cnv. (RIP 2001 Jaguar XK8 cnv and 1985 MB 380SE [the best of the lot])

LOL, there are some who can afford it and some who can't. I unfortunately, fall into the category closer to the latter. :(

If I had it though, Mercedes would be my choice :D

...new-style Honda Insight on Oxford Avenue going south into Fox Chase from Rockledge. This one was sort of an iridescent blue and it still had the new car stickers on the left rear window.

Maybe not brand new, but I saw an E63 wagon the other day. Yes, please.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
    That's gotta be a rarity.

That and the RS6 have got to be the ultimate sleepers in my books... Top gear did a great comparo and the E63 was just ridiculous :shades:
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
W211 E55 wagons came over at a rate of about 100 per year...I'd bet the E63 is even rarer.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
I think I remember that comparo.

The performance figures are also virtually identical to the CLK63 Black Series - in a wagon!
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
I think the M5 Touring was in that comparo too.

Not on the same level of performance but I have always found the V70R a lot more fun to drive.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
A V70R has to be a pretty rare bird, too.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Probably not as rare as the E55 wagon and definitely not as rare as the E63.

We end up selling four to six V70Rs a year on average sometimes more. I think we are on number four so far this year. Usually only get two with manuals though.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
I don't know if I have ever seen a V70R on the road. I have seen a few S60R. There is something to be said for exclusivity, especially if it is subtle.

I have seen 2 E55 wagons, and the E63 I saw was my first sighting in the wild.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
I'm a big fan of the V70R, especially with the manual. Now that Subie doesn't offer the Outback X/T nor the Legacy GT wagon :( , it would be nice to see Volvo offer the R-spec wagons with the next iteration of the V-series.

Guess they don't really count since we went to a dealer and test drove an Elantra Touring.

They had several Genesis sedans and a few coupes too, including one in a semi-bright green that was very attractive and sporty looking. The salesperson said that yellow cars were the worst for getting speeding tickets but that the bright green one was sure to attract its share. Maybe I'll be able to recognize them in the wild now at least.

The Elantra Touring wagon we drove was bright bright red and a bit much for us. The blue was bright too, but at least it matches Boise State blue. Nice ride but they're about two grand too high at this dealer.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
The current V70 is a bit too big to make a good V70R the way the old one was.

I guess the current gen V70 with the new 280ish T6 engine and a bigger turbo with more boost would make a great high speed tourer. The new V70 is just way too big to be a tossable car like the old V70R was. Either that or the 311 hp V8 from the S80 maybe with a single turbo would be hot too.

    EDIT:

I saw an Elantra Touring today as well. I actually kind of liked it.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Wagons are the new crossovers, lol. I think we still are going to sacrifice some space and comfort and get a hatch, but you never know. We may just sit on our hands another six or eight months.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
New car sighting of the year for me, so far - SL65 AMG Black Series. I knew exactly what it was by its unique rear quarter windows and the odd wing. Wow.

It's an attractive little wagon... Makes you wonder who Hyundai was using for their designers about five years ago... :surprise:

They most have stolen a couple of good people from some where or hired some really bright kids right out of school.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
The Elantra Touring is a port of the i30 which came out of Hyundai's European design studio in Germany.

It most reminds me of a Matrix but the Matrix/Vibe are not quite so wagonny looking.

I finally realized what bell and whistle was missing - they don't offer factory navigation. That's fine with me - they have a little flip up box on top of the dash that looks fine for sticking a portable nav in, although there's no power in the box.

The heated/cooled glove box was a bit of a "huh?" too.

Open track day at High Plains last Friday: Not one, but two Nissan GT-Rs. A local Nissan dealership is owned by a car nut. I guess he brought them in to exercise properly. I think one had been driven over, the other trailered.

They were running in the "slow" group. I don't know why, 'cause with a competent driver (which they seemed to have), they'd have been faster than almost anything in the "fast" group.

    Bugatti Veyron..

Never thought I would see one of these.. Visiting Chicago, spotted one in the showroom of the downtown Bentley/Lambo dealer...

Saw 2 of these driving south from NYC on the NJ Turnpike. They look OK but I the Challenger is cleaner.

Also spotted a Genesis near home, looks good. At a glance it could be a Benz.

A neighbor owns one of those, traded in a Suburban for it.

She said she misses the space the old truck had. She has 3 kids so with captain's chairs she's always using the 3rd row. The Burb had a bench that fit all 3 kids so that left her with 6 times as much cargo space.

first the new. i cruising at about 60 in my mustang convertible, when a nissan GTR went by me like i was standing still, and about 2 feet away.

it is here for the and flying out of a local airport, giving people rides to help pay for the restoration.

Open track on Sunday, the largest single contingent was a group of 7 or 8 new Camaros. I'm pretty sure they were all V8s. Most of them went out on the track, but typically for only a couple of laps at a time. A couple of them did show some interest in learning the line. The one who was trying the hardest had his brakes go completely south.

The majority were good about checking mirrors and pointing by, but one guy needed a little attitude adjustment. A dive-bomb pass is a good way of disabusing someone of the notion that being fast down the straight is the same thing as running a quick lap.
  • xhe518xhe518 Member Posts: 107
V8 Camaros have Brembo brakes, so maybe those were V6s
  • xhe518xhe518 Member Posts: 107
Saw one on the road with manufacturer's plates. Looked nice!
  • ajvdhajvdh Member Posts: 223
Nope, It was an SS. Even said "Brembo" on the calipers. Doesn't matter who makes the brakes, they're still bound by laws of physics. You need big, honkin' rotors and lots of cooling to dissipate the heat generated by slowing a 3900 lb/426 HP car lap after lap.

In fairness, he almost certainly had street pads on, and swapping to track pads and proper brake fluid can make a big difference. It usually takes more than a few track days to get to the point where those are required - I don't know how much experience this guy had.

Not brand new, but the local Enzo (there can't be more than one) drove past my window a few minutes ago.

The other say I was out for a walk, and in the same place I spotted the SL Black Series...I saw the same car again. Certainly it was the same car.

Every single new-style Mazda 6 I have seen has been a rental.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw a new one, temporary diplomatic tags.

Gotta wonder how that would do here. The 335d costs more than $10 grand more than a 328i, the 320d might actually carry a reasonable price.

More style than the xB.. Not sure I'd want one, though...

Gawd those things are ugly. The non symetrical C-pillar really irks the heck out of me. And the bumpout that houses the tail lamps makes it looks like it's got a fat lip. And the tiny wheels, ugh. The whole package just looks like a covered shopping cart from the local grocery store. I'm sure it's got gobs of room inside and plenty of functionality but the stylists went overboard IMO.

And I am one who really likes the Honda Element...
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
I think a 320d would sell well here. With VW nearly completely sold out of TDIs till the 2010s get here maybe that will help convince BMW to bring some of the cheaper more fuel efficient Diesels here.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,408
I wonder how they would price it...seeing as a loaded 335d flies past 50K, and the 1ers sell for barely less than 3ers...

MB has a huge range of diesel engines in Europe too. E220/E250/E350 and C200/220/250/350 is quite a lineup, not to mention the other cars.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Base wheels are small, but that's probably intentional, so they can sell the big wheel package for a hefty profit.

Think about this - the Versa starts under $10 grand. A loaded up Cube, over $20 grand. That's a lot of fluff (and profit).

I see a new Prius or two every day.

Part of that is probably that DC is a political city, but I swear every other car is a hybrid here.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
They are getting pretty common here now too, and I've seen several 2010 models with the pointier rear light treatment.

I also saw a Toyota Prius Hybrid sedan while in California last week but couldn't get close enough to see what kind of glue the owner had used to move the badges around. Either that or I missed a good opportunity to pull a Brenda Priddy and get a spy shot. :shades:

There's lots of Priuii here but I haven't really noticed any new ones. I've seen a couple of Insights though.

Several new Insights and Prius here every day, too. This is an area where "green" is a status symbol to many people.

Brought the wifeys Outback in for an OC over the weekend and got a chance to check out the new Legacy GT. I'm still not a fan of the exterior (My wife likes it alot)... The profile is awkward, the tail end is too blunt and Sebring-ish and the pulled back headlights dominate the front profile.

But, step inside and my opinion changed dramatically. It is very well done. The seats are excellent, the visibility is good, the rear seat is commodious, the materials and build quality was top notch. Really dig the new layout. My only gripes were the uncovered cupholders and the notchy gerabox. I didn't drive it unfortunately, but I plan to.

I am also warming up to the new Outback as well. Still ticked that they got rid of the large sunroof and the X/T model.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Also checked out one of these bad boys at a mall last evening. The swarm of people around it made it difficult, but my wife and I got some seat time to check it out (not driving it tho :( Love the seats. Good materials, good build quality. BIG. Good ergonomics and surprisingly good visibility, even with the thick C-pillars.

I'm not really a fan of big coupes but the Challenger would be an exception if I didn;t choose a Mustang GT first :shades:
