Or be in a political swing state where gas prices were nearly $4.00 several weeks ago. This is more than just clearing out the storage tanks at the farms for winter blend.
were for $3.33 at Shell by home. Filled up the Olds for the winter then the DD. The usual place and back-up were at $3.40. Places by work are still @ $3.70 on average.
Funny thing but on my route near home there are two Mobil stations priced at $3.33. The Shell I filled up for the same is about 1/4 mile away from one of them. The other Mobil is about a couple miles east down the road and price the same & there is a Shell and a BP at the same intersection. The BP is priced @ $3.66 and the Shell @ $3.35 (with a wash - which is in very small print), $3.60 just fuel. :confuse:
The economy is slowing. People aren't buying. The crude price is lower as well. The odd low pricing has lasted much longer than the usual 3-5 days we'd get as they cleared out the summer and loaded the winter into their storage tanks at the farms. It's been 7-10 days now. Bet it'll go up on Nov 7.
Nominal pricing is $3.18 in this area with $3.02 available if you travel around the area on other business and want to fill up there.
My son is enjoying the price of gas in Ky right now. After leaving Alaska gas prices and being gouged down through Canada, Washington and CA, he can fill his Yukon for a lot less. His home in Evansville is just a mile from cheap gas in Kentucky. Just filled for $3.11 per gallon. Indiana ain't much higher at $3.21.
Heading home yesterday majority of the stations were back up to $3.66 ~ $3.69 per gallon. This from about half of them being $3.28 earlier in the day. I was lucky and the Thorntons was still at $3.26 so filled up a day early.
Guess because we may, possibly, might, could get swells at the lakefront that's cause for a 30 - 40 cent price increase by me, which the lakefront is about 65 miles away.
NE Philly: Sunoco Ultra is $3.87. Surprised they didn't use Hurricane Sandy as an excuse to jack up the price. Philly was spared much of Sandy's wrath. The only damage in my neighborhood was a fallen tree about a block away.
Encountered first snow for myself though where I'm at (Tomahawk) had 1st snow early October
Side note: in 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan rental. Not bad, 3rd row seating not too cramped, has amble room for 6 male adults with basic luggage (duffel / gym bags and laptops), perhaps w/ ladies wouldn't be enough cargo capacity. Not too bad of a ride considering the choppiness of I-39. Not sure how it would fair taking that route everyday at highway speeds, or any vehicle for that matter. Would I buy one, not sure - not a minivan type of person but for a rental not bad I must admit. Very good HVAC system, nice and toasty!
Filled up the '02 Explorer for 3.739 credit price. DTE read 0 miles to empty for a mile or so, but I put in 22 gallons and it is supposed to hold 22.5 gallons.

This morning I noticed that several gas stations around Port Huron had bumped from ~$3.55 to $3.65. Even though I had a half a tank, I started paying attention and found a Marathon that had gas for $3.35. So I put ten gallons in. Gotta look up some gasbuddy stations tonight for a refill before the bridge.
Same here - the $3.49 stations are bumping up to the $3.59 ~ $3.69 range. I'm a couple days from my next fill-up but may be filling up again earlier if I find a decent price...
Just got another tank at $3.49 in Mackinaw City. Downstate it's pushing $3.69 most places. There's one more cheap spot I know of that I can top it off with in a few hours and then I really will "park" the van for the winter. Had a few snow squalls on the freeway today, but the radar looks okay for a while now.
Not too bad - glad you were able to get the $3.49, hopefully I can do the same or even cheaper as I did last week. Maybe because we got our first "snow", or maybe because Tesla S got MT COY, or maybe it's because it's Tuesday...
Filled up the old Explorer with RUG for 3.739 credit price on 11/9. Filled up the new Explorer with RUG for 3.799 credit price on 11/12, same price I paid filling it up on 10/24.

I was going to fill up yesterday at Costco. I hate long lines, 6 deep on every bay. Had half tank wait until next trip down. Price was $3.73 best in area.
I put in 9.9 gallons on the last leg to the house at $3.49. My usual "cheap" station over that way was a dime higher than three stations a few miles back, but this place has good coffee and it's free, so I figured the extra buck it cost me to fill up saved me two bucks on the two coffees we got.
Gas at home is up six cents from last week to $3.59.
Well, that means that regular is ~6.79 a gallon and diesel is ~7.43 a gallon, sticking to Swiss francs.
Converting the currency, regular comes in at $7.17 a gallon and diesel is $7.84. The differential is 67 cents. So diesel is around 9% higher. Not bad assuming the mpg is typically higher than 9% comparing a gasser to a similar diesel car.
In Germany, it is reversed - diesel is cheaper (not by a huge gap, maybe 5% or so at most). Diesel is still the sensible choice in Europe no matter where you live.
From all the posts you read in the diesel forums here, I had the impression that it diesel was always significantly cheaper in most of Europe, what with tax breaks and other incentives to encourage using it.
I think gasoline in Germany was around 1.60-1.65 Euro/liter, with diesel maybe 1.50. So maybe closer to 10%, but not huge. Good reason to choose a diesel rental car.
In Switzerland, I think the goodie goodie bleeding heart types who have some influence (and with their huge salaries probably drive X6s and live in energy guzzling houses) would do away with the car entirely, if they could. There's an active political component against it.

"Some central Ohio stations [are] selling gas for $2.97 a gallon."
Could this be because of a late October before an early November Tuesday??
It makes for good conspiracy theories on timing. Just too many factors. And of course we all know gas is tied to Supply and Demand.
RUG= $3.69
Plus = $3.79
Ultra = $3.95
>supply, demand, Yahtzee.

2014 Malibu 2LT, 2015 Cruze 2LT,
Gotta buy some in the morning and hoping to score some in the $3.60 range.
Got some on the road a couple of days ago for $3.52.

I don't ever remember gas prices going down this fast. Going up, yes.
Looks like gas is around $3.19 down in Detroit for regular, per GasBuddy. Looks like diesel is running mostly between $3.70 and $3.90.

Really odd.

Don't think prices are going to get lower but there's always a chance...
